Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use it for our hourly employees clock in & out and for all employees payroll, benefits admin, and 401k contributions. It was more DIY than I expected it to be but the Knowledge Base is very intuitive and I think I've learned way more than I would have if we still used a large brand like Paychex that handles everything internally.

  • Pay entry is super straight forward and I love that you can do a 1-time special check.
  • Customer service is impersonal.
  • I have to have a timeclock profile to manage things even though I am salary, so we're paying a monthly fee for a timeclock profile that I do not use.
  • HR actions are a little jerky.
  • Reduced errors on paychecks
  • Data is very accessible for quick problem solving
  • Saving money on physical time clocks
Positively. The payroll process is efficient and transparent so if there's a problem with someone's check its easy to find the problem and resolve with a one time payment.
Honestly I haven't really had a chance to deep dive into those but it seems like valuable data to have.
Its much more in-house for us which I think helps us understand our costs, wages, and fix any problems quicker than waiting for a rep from the company to look at the complaint.

I think it's a better alternative if you want to have a lot of transparency and access to your payroll procedures vs. the large companies who handle it all on their own and are liable to unknowingly make mistakes and not alert you.
