Overall Satisfaction with Procore
We are using Procore for operations management of documents, RFIs, Submittals, Quality control. Our current accounting software (ComputerEase) is not compatible with Procore so we are not fully using the financial modules yet. The most immediate impact has been the ability to control the construction documents and update and distribute the most recent drawing revisions to the entire site team and subcontractors.
Pros
- The drawing module is very useful and easy to set up and manage updates. It allows us to slip sheet the most recent drawing revision while maintaining the history of the drawing revisions with easy access to pull up the previous drawings.
- The submittal tracking module is very good. It allows us to create a submittal register and tag the submitter as having the ball in court and provides a very clear and easy to follow progression through the submittal review and approval process.
- The RFIs module is very useful and intuitive.
Cons
- The auto character recognition hyperlinks to section and detail references misses many of them. In Bluebeam, a user can fine tune a hyperlink to take a user directly to the detail, and back. Procore only takes a user to the page, and does not appear to be able to take the user directly back.
- The submittals module does not allow markups within the system. We have to download the document onto our server, open in Bluebeam to complete the markups to the drawing, save the file on the server, then upload the file back to the Procore submittal.
- Bluebeam Revu and Prolog
We are still using Bluebeam for document markups, shop drawing markups, and pdf document work. Bluebeam also provides the ability to create a more user friendly dashboard for access to submittals and project plans. The RFI and submittal and observation modules and process are more intuitive and user friendly than those in Prolog.
The subcontractors and architect are using the submittals, RFI and drawings modules for collaborative work. Procore does not work nearly as well as Bluebeam Studio for real time collaboration on design development and page turn review and markups.
- The local inspectors require hardcopy paper documents for the RFI's and permit plans etc, but if that were not the case, our project would be mostly paperless
- The submittals and RFIs is saving us a lot of time over what we were doing prior to using Procore
- The drawings and specifications tracking and slipsheet in Procore has greatly improved our document control and distribution of revisions
- Ensure information is accessible and up to date
- Document job site conditions
- Report on incidents and inspections
- Identify job site risks
- Track cost impacts from the field
The Drawigns, Specifications, Submittals, RFIs, Observations are the most used modules. We are starting to use the meetings module also.
