Overall Satisfaction with Procore

We use Procore for document management (submittals, drawings, RFIs, specs, photos) and for safety/quality (observations, punch list, inspections). We do off-site construction so most of our work is in a manufacturing facility. Procore solves our problems of knowing which documents are current, provisional, void, etc. We also use extensively for tracking work to complete and quality with the observations and punch list tools.
  • Procore does punch list very well. Depending on how detailed you need to be, you can create, assign, describe, and photograph a punch item in 30 seconds. There are great setup options that allow you to have default assignees based on trade (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc) which makes creating the actual punch item very quick. The mobile tool also uses your phone's camera and has quick markup tools to circle or drop an arrow.
  • Drawings works well for us. We are a fully-custom design build company and we produce many type of drawings from SD, DD, Permit, IFC, shop, record and we use drawing areas to differentiate each of these different type/purpose drawings. This is a nice feature.
  • Procore needs the ability to markup specs like drawings. It also needs to be able to pin RFIs to specs just like drawings. All contract documents are a source for RFIs, markups, clarifications, etc.
  • Procore really needs to add a printing option. Right now, you have to download a file to print it.
  • Procore saves considerable searching and communication times.
  • We have only been using for ~7 months. In this time, we've cycled through the first round of projects that have been used exclusively through Procore but it's still too early to make ROI conclusions. I do know they will be positive.
We have integrated Procore Drive and Smartsheet Sync. Procore Drive is a workable temporary solution while Procore completes the Sync tool enabling Google Drive like functionality. We use Smartsheet for schedule integration. Procore does not have an integration for our ERP system (COINS) so I can't comment on that potential. I would like to see an integration for COINS from Procore.
Daily logs are much quicker than our usual method of "save as" for an excel template. Logs are entered directly into Procore via the mobile app and pictures of ship tickets, test reports, receipts, timecards, progress photos, etc. The additional functionality makes them more complete and useful than the previous method.
Procore does more than any of the listed above and does them better and in a more user-friendly fashion. Helix is particularly bad for document management usability. Same for e-Builder - the interface is not very user-friendly. We selected Procore based on cost, mobile app for superintendents, ease-of-use, and complete package of tools.
It does very well for what we ask of it -- document management and quality/safety. Drawings, submittals, punch lists, observations are all nicely documented and arranged.

Unfortunately, the construction financials aren't very useful to us because there is no plugin for the accounting software we use (COINS). I would have liked to make better use of them but to use them would require creating my own duplicate set of project costs using our primary books. Other small shortcomings like having to download something to print it are sub-optimal.
