Overall Satisfaction with Procore

Our company currently operates on 6 to 7 large projects at various stages of construction throughout the year. This leads to confusion when coordinating with our field employees, office staff, and subcontractors to make sure everything is being handled as we intended during the bid process and laid out at the project start. With Procore, we are able to bring project managers, coordinators, superintendents, and subcontractors to one point for all our projects. We are able to lay out how the project will be done and tighten our scope, track drawings and owner notes, and effectively adapt our workflow so questions are no longer being shouted down the hall! It has greatly simplified the field asking the right questions with backup for when those questions have to go to the owner. It has streamlined our submittal process both in-house and with our subcontractors, and it has allowed us to keep our subcontractors focused on their scope of work. All of this has led to overall savings in inefficiencies, scope creep, and missed RFC opportunities that exceed the cost of using Procore.
  • Request for information workflow/process with notifications and updates
  • Drawing function that tracks revisions and allows field markup with camera pictures added
  • Some administrative functions can be hard to find, nested within other menus/screens
  • Training is necessary and can take a day or two of personal time
  • Caught missed scope-creep (free work that is not part of the contract), which is properly handled with an RFC process
  • Revision notes and markup highlighting on drawings with the ability to capture parts for RFIs for clarity
We utilize Procore Imports (for importing documents and data) and Procore Drive for synchronizing project data to our office network for storage/modification. Both improve the flow of project data to and from the Procore service, saving time and duplicated work getting files where they need to be.

We are evaluating adding additional integrations such as Hilti ON!Track for inventory management (a service we already use for tool and asset tracking), a BIM service (Procore currently has 8 third-party solutions available), and an accounting software tie-in that is offered by our current project costing provider. The Hilti solution would improve our tool/asset tracking, helping us manage inventory and prevent items from wandering off, the BIM would allow us to coordinate easier with other trades and the owner for layout and installation, and the accounting solution will help us avoid duplicated work in entering milestones and budgets. All of this could potentially increase our savings using Procore.
Foremen have reported that they are spending about 10 minutes entering a daily log, instead of 20 - 30. Procore provides a better framework and allows them to be more concise with events and information, streamlining data entry which means less time at the end of their day entering the log. Additionally, since the log becomes a part of the project in Procore, there are no more paper copies to scan in (if they can be due to weather and conditions) or files scattered around computers that need to be chased down. This leads to an overall overhead savings as foremen and office staff can spend time on other things.
Services were used for their collaboration tools and/or ability to easily share information. Unfortunately, they do not offer the automated file management, workflows, or document tools that can even come close to what Procore does. With the added functionality of having everything we need to manage a project in one place and applications that work on office desktops, tablets, and phones choosing Procore was an easy decision.
Very well suited for companies:
  • With multiple large projects
  • Coordinating multiple subcontractors
The service is excellent at storing and providing access to project drawings as well as specifications with on-screen character recognition and automated file naming to make life easier when uploading the files. The workflows designed for RFC/RFI/Submittal processes are easy to adapt to and greatly increase responsiveness to these items, which leads to net savings for the company.
