Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashArray

I'm only picking 10 because there is no 1000 (rating)! When you've been abused by the other offerings and are used to dealing with "specialists" who only know how to read a script after getting back with you hours later only to end up going off shift so you can start the adventure all over with the next person.... The PURE support will have already answered, worked and resolved the issue. Software upgrades? They go like this: Dear support@purestorage.com, can we upgrade to the latest release this weekend on both arrays? Thanks! Seriously, that easy.
We are using a PUREStorage M50 at our home office supported with an M10 at our co-location. It handles our Production as well as some Test/Dev environments. Coming from a VNX/Unity platform, this is a thing of beauty. It actually works as expected and as described. It has truly been a game changer.
  • Compression and Deduplication are incredible. It's like a skinny person at a buffet who just keeps shoveling it down. I'm not sure where its going but they are steady chowing down with no sign of slowing.
  • Array Management has been a god sent. Its easy to use and very intuitive. The PURE1 console is fantastic and there is even an APP!
  • Fast....Blazing fast doesn't even begin to cover it.
  • If there was anything that would make my life easier, it would be some sort of reporting system that puts out some pretty graphs I can show management.
  • ROI? There is nothing more expensive than regret. We tried the Unity route and after the lawyers got involved, EMC bought it back from us.
  • The most positive impact has been my morale. I no longer have nightmares of calling support and waiting for them to blow our SLA on a return call.
Our Unity 300F was horrible and had we even been able to POC it, it would have failed but it wasn't our call. EMC support used to be something to be proud of (think 2011 before the Dell purchase) but has become the butt of many MANY jokes. The PURE Storage system is better in every way but mostly just because it actually does what they say it will and does it better than you think is possible.
  • Using the Analysis tools we've been able to track/smack down offending processes and runaway code which we never knew existed.
  • Our Data Management team has become much more confident in the environment and will quickly be able to not only say it's not us, but also be able to assist with problem determination.
Our Production system currently has 188.14 T of provisioned space, containing roughly 400ish VMs. The actual amount of storage used is 31.94 T out of the 41 T available. This thing is like the bottomless pit of Sparta and I just keep donkey kicking more VMs into it. It smiles back with a "Please sir, may I have some more?"
