Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

Intacct is used throughout the organization. We extensively use the dimension features of the software. The ability to see information across our entities/locations is a key feature.

Pros

  • The ability to use dimensions within the reporting tool is a key feature of the software.
  • Being a cloud based application we no longer have to worry about the cost to upgrade or keeping current on the latest version. In addition, the cloud based platform allows our employees to be more mobile and flexible.
  • Custom reports and ad hoc data dumps give us the flexibility to access our data.

Cons

  • The cons to using cloud based application is that you are at the mercy of price increases.
  • Intacct has changed it allegiance with 3rd party software providers during the time that we have been using the software. They started pushing American Express pay service. Prior, they were a backers of Bill.com. Bill.com was the only option available when we purchased the software. Switching Bill Pay providers is not easy.
  • I don't have actual dollar savings. However, Intacct in combination with Bill.com has enabled us limit the hiring in our accounting department. It is only due to the overall growth in volume that has required us to hire an additional person. We have been on the software for 6 years.
We use Bill.com in conjunction with Intacct to automate our bill pay process. The cloud feature of both applications has allowed us to work with joint venture partners from around the US. In addition, it has saved us from having to hire a full-time AP person.
We do not use other features of Intacct other than the core set of financial applications.
Intacct until recently has maintained the original APIs. This is key for developers because you don't have to keep upgrading custom interfaces each time a new API is rolled out. We do not have any custom integration.
MS Dynamics GP is an archaic application that is fraught with data integrity issues. SAP Business One is an excellent on-premises application for direct manufacturing companies as it has a very robust and easy to use Bill of Material, Inventory Application. But on-premise solutions have their limitations. NetSuite - I have used and implemented NetSuite in the past. The application is complicated and not intuitive to use. I have had other job opportunities since joining Stratford. The companies using NetSuite or MS Dynamics GP were a no go. Life is too short to muck about with either of these applications.

We utilize the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and portions of Time and Expense. These applications are very stable and well integrated. We do have issues getting the 1099s to print correctly on the form. I cannot speak to the other applications.
