Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sauce Labs is used for our Selenium tests for our web application. It is integrated with Jenkins and helps provide an environment so it can be run separately from the pipeline. There was a previous issue that our pipeline would time out when we ran our test because it took too long. With Sauce Labs, we were able to resolve this issue.

Sauce Labs is very suited for DevOps especially the concept of continuous integration and continuous deployment. It allows testing to be integrated with the application and allows for reliable testing. However, the pricing is less than desirable which has made using Sauce Labs quite limited in my company. Some teams use it and some don't since it could add up in the project budget.

Mostly for our company, pricing has been a big issue and a main factor in deciding which tool to use. Sauce Labs reputation has helped and compatibility with Selenium has been one of the main factors since our company mostly has web applications.

I am not sure if it's my company that makes getting Sauce Labs integrated into the team difficult or is it Sauce Labs. The process for getting Sauce Labs for a project is quite a tedious process and the information for using Sauce Labs initially is quite lacking. There is little support for getting started.

The support is good for Sauce Labs. It is hard to get an initial response but the support has cleared our issues with Sauce Labs. Sometimes we have to follow up and it's hard to get a hold of the team initially. Once we get a hold of the team, the issues are always resolved.

Exceptional Examples of Sauce Labs Support

There was a lunch and learn for Sauce Labs and it was a great introduction for the product. Even though it was only a lunch and learn, the team asked if anybody had any issues and was willing to follow up with our team's issue even though it was only a lunch and learn.

Usability

The dashboard is very easy to use. I think the dashboards give great information on how the tests are running. However, I think I have a shallow understanding of Sauce Labs and cannot give an appropriate review. Overall, my experience using Sauce Labs has been enjoyable and it was easy to learn for the first time.
