Overall Satisfaction with UltiPro

UltiPro is our one and only HRIS, and it is touched by the whole organization. We use it for payroll, annual enrollment, performance reviews, HR reporting, compliance, recruiting, onboarding, and record keeping. Our company has been using UltiPro for about 7 years, and we will not likely switch to another provider given how many features we use.
  • Annual enrollment.
  • Merit increase imports.
  • There has been a delay in communications about 2020 EEO-1 requirements.
  • The back office has a steep learning curve.
  • Consolidating HR administration under a single solution
Our entire employee life cycle touches UltiPro, so we have definitely achieved consolidation of human resources administration. Our company only has one segment of the human resources functions that are not served by UltiPro, and that is our wellness program. We use a separate vendor to track rewards points, activity trackers, etc. We use UltiPro for literally everything else. I am not sure how we would function without BI.
UltiPro is much more robust and has better reporting, which is necessary for the size company we have. When I used Paycom, I was only supporting about 60 employees on average, and I had no complaints at the time. Once you have processes outlined, both are very easy to use. Paycom has probably grown a lot in the time since I last used them, and I will say that at the time their customer service was miles ahead of UltiPro.
UltiPro is very responsive. Most of the time if there is any sort of lag, it's just a matter of closing the window and trying again. If a report is too large for BI to generate in a reasonable amount of time, it means it would crash Excel anyway and I need to restrict my parameters.
I am not intimately acquainted with support.
I know that our HRIS Manager and Payroll Administrator were working closely with support for a couple of weeks trying to get a W2 error squared away related to our phantom stock plan, and they seemed pleased with the results.
I think Ultipro is well suited for larger companies that can have a dedicated expert and one or two support staff to run it. I'd say it's a little too robust and difficult to navigate for smaller companies. There is another payroll/HRIS provider I used to work with that was a lot more intuitive, but not suitable for larger employers.

UltiPro Training

Yes, but I would recommend the training Ultipro puts out. You can think you know the best way to do a lot of things, and then Ultipro experts can show you a better way that you didn't know about. My supervisor has been using Ultipro for 10 years and still learns new things on a regular basis.
Be aware of what may be useful or what recordings may cover a lot of what you already know. I recommend using the recorded trainings rather than the live webinars unless there are specific questions you would like to ask.
