Overall Satisfaction with Acquia DAM (Widen)

Acquia DAM (Widen) is used to house and archive final creative marketing files (mainly pdfs and jpegs) that can then be accessed by the entire organization to use as they need. If business development needs brochures or flyers for an event, they can find them on Acquia DAM (Widen), download them, and print them to take with them.

Pros

  • Collections are helpful to keep assets organized.
  • Linking collections to portals and having them auto update if assets in the collection changes.

Cons

  • In my experience, it's difficult to move assets around if they were accidentally uploaded to wrong collection or category. I also wish the category structure could be nested.
  • There aren't enough parameters in uploading content so if someone less familiar with DAM will end up dumping assets anywhere which turns the DAM into a disorganized dumping ground.
  • I'd love to see a more robust templating tool that would make it easy and intuitive for non-designers to come in and create what they need without so many options.
  • Assets available across the entire organization
  • Time back for the Marketing department to not have to provide assets for each individual request.
I was not on the team when Acquia DAM (Widen) was implemented so I don't have experience post Acquia DAM (Widen) implementation. I have however chatted with support a number of times since our team inherited the platform and the chat support has always been helpful.
Portals in particular have helped share brand assets, or campaign assets to our external agency partners which has helped streamline and maintaining consistency in output.

Do you think Acquia DAM (Widen) delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Acquia DAM (Widen)'s feature set?

No

Did Acquia DAM (Widen) live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Acquia DAM (Widen) go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Acquia DAM (Widen) again?

No

I don't think Acquia DAM (Widen) is best suited for Marketing assets. I think Acquia DAM (Widen) makes more sense for legal, law, finance, etc. type industries where what is housed are final archived word based documents that don't require a lot of organizational structure. Education is complex with multiple schools or programs within an institution and Acquia DAM (Widen) doesn't seem to be able to create an organizational structure to meets the complexity that we need.
