Aspect Workforce Management

I would say Aspect is less appropriate with smaller businesses or businesses with a smaller amount of clients. Aspect is really useful if you have a lot of customers and employees as you have to schedule the employee breaks and time off around the business needs. A lot of smaller businesses don't need that ability since they might not have the demanding customers like a lot of larger companies would have.

Ceridian Dayforce HCM

Dayforce appears to be a product that was designed for retail, however, we have made it work for our environment in a law firm setting. It works well for time management to my knowledge, but our recruiting, performance management, and billing through accounting is still outside of Dayforce in other systems.

Pros

  • The tool offers a great deal of flexibility in forecasting approaches. It allows you to track seasonality, growth, day of week factors, arrival patterns, store information on holidays and special events. You have the flexibility to forecast based on historical data or user defined data or a combination.
  • Although somewhat complex to configure initially, the scheduling features are also quite flexible allow you to create schedule scenarios for the most unique situations.
  • There are a great number of reports available in the tool and the tools offers you a variety of different options for pulling the same data making it much easier to analyze and trend. You can also set up routine reports to automatically run and export in a variety of different formats and save to shared drives or even email to specific users.
  • The agent interface "Empower" it also very intuitive making it easy for agents to view their schedules, request time off, participate in shift bids and view their own performance reports.

  • Allows employees to submit personal changes either to address, direct deposit and/or a life event changes such marriage, the birth of a child.
  • The system also allows our employees to clock their time more efficiently using their mobile phone, computer or even a time clock that we have set up for them. This especially makes it easier for the manager to approve time as well.
  • Reviewing employee changes and payroll has been better as well with the reporting tool the system has in place. The standard reports and report templates make it easier to run custom reports as well. Fantastic tool.

Cons

  • Some of the features can be difficult for a new user to learn. Once they have them down, the software functions wonderfully; however, the learning curve can be high.
  • While RTA is a great tool to utilize, the look has not changed in a long time. It has an 'old-school' software appearance that does not match the core system.
  • When dealing with huge sets of data (for example, changing schedules for an entire year for many agents), the software can hang for quite a while. While this is not a frequent occurence and can happen with any application, it can be frustrating for some users.

  • I think the scheduling component could use some work. Currently if someone has a different type of availability for work, you cannot simply look at the days they are available and visually see what they can work. You have to hover over the box to see what they can work. It would be benificial if there was a way for their availability to be visible A for AM, P for PM or O for open in each day.
  • Some of the upload functions could use some additional functions. We are currently trying to figure out how to upload our J1 visa employees, but have their social security tax blocked so we don't have to manually for all of their work assignments. It's very time consuming.

If I were in a position to use this type of software again, Aspect would be at the top of my list. The biggest factors I would consider would be the size and culture of the call center where it would be used.

Allow yourself a sufficient period, and if you hit snags TALK with your implementation team. Do not try and figure it out on your own. This was the first and only scheduling software that I had any experience with. I was not involved in the selection process, only the implementation and on going support.

Having everything all in one and a timekeeping system that is based off of the schedule already input into Dayforce is a huge plus. It helps us forecast labor budgets and ensure employees are only working when they are supposed to be working. The fact that there is an easy to use app that employees can use to ensure they are up to date and know where they stand weekly is also amazing.

  • Dayforce has had a very positive ROI. The labor costs itself by combining programs together is in itself instead of having to pay for multiple programs, and we have barely scratched the surface of the full potential of Dayforce. We've also seen a significant paper reduction as much of our forms have gone to paperless through Dayforce.
