Boomi is an integration platform. It will address integration requirements between applications, cloud or on-premise. Also, will allow you to integrate with vendors and customers via EDI or FTP for data transfers. Examples: - NetSuite/Oracle eBusiness Suite/SAP with vendors for manufacturing management and financial transactions- cloud to cloud integration(NetSuite to Namely/OpenAir/Concur, SalesForce to ERP)- on-premise to cloud: custom legacy apps that almost every company has can be integrated to cloud apps, making the transition to 100% cloud apps easier

TIBCO Cloud Integration (including BusinessWorks and Scribe)

It is well suited for On Premise integration use cases and especially with cases where the source or target does not have a recognized API to work with. It is not so well suited for modern integrations and in high transactional use cases. If there was a bigger marketplace it might make it more compelling.

  • They have a large collection of existing connectors that allow for quick integration in almost every case.
  • The UI for building maps is competitive with any top shelf ETL tool on the market.
  • The ability to run maps in the cloud or on premise, or in a hybrid environment is incredibly enabling.
  • The sandbox environment makes it easy to build and test maps before hitting a production environment.
  • This should probably be higher up the list. But the error tracking and reprocessing of trans, and detailed error information and download ability is invaluable.

  • Honestly, the user interface. It has a lot of room to improve to get aligned with our products it is working with. The design is intuitive, but somewhat clunky because of the interface. It seems to be about 10-years behind other products in this area. The UI is important, especially when you are trying to attract users that may not have a development background.

  • The synchronization is not fast and seems to do some unnecessary work.
  • Selecting the entities to synchronize is quite tedious, you need to scroll through quite a big list (especially when you have a lot of custom entities) a filter would be welcome.
  • You need to manually update the metadata of the sending connection to see newly created entities, it would be nice if you could schedule those tasks too.
  • We already had quite some situations where MS changed things in the data model of CRM that caused issues in the sync tasks.

Of the integration tools reviewed, this one is preferred; 80% of our current clients use either the on-premise version or the cloud version of Scribe for integrations. The others are either using SmartConnect or custom integrations via SQL or .NET; of those we are always pushing for them to move to a true integration tool.

From its web administrative interface that provides added value for administrators, such as its development platform which is very intuitive, TIBCO Cloud Integration offers many benefits but it is important that the personnel using the product be previously trained in architecture as a definition Inadequate can make TIBCO Cloud Integration more complex to use or does not comply with the specifics.

In the three years we use Tibco Cloud Integration platform Scribe, we have not yet experienced any outages. The only issues we had were with Microsoft changing the Microsoft Dynamics 365 REST API which caused our replication jobs to fail.But for the time being we have not yet had any real downtime impacting our scheduled replication jobs.

The atom sphere takes a time to load, when I open a process or when I open a log. One more slow processing is when I import objects from NetSuite.
About the performance of processing, it looks like Boomi takes a time to initialize some things such as connectors before starting the process. This is also performance we have.

TIBCO Cloud Integration (including BusinessWorks and Scribe)'s performance of the user interface are not to be complained about. The user interface is swift and is a pleasant user experience. The replication jobs take some time to finish but that is because the number of records to be updated/created on a daily basis is quite big. I did split up the jobs between highrunners (entities with a lot of changes) I update on a daily basis and quite stable entities that I update weekly. That solved my issue of a way to long replication.

For creating new process, you have lots of palettes to do every develop you need.For created process it is easy to understand even if you have ever seen before it. You can analyze your process in all their detail.User Experience is positive for beginner and expertise people. Just debug mode is still raw, but better in TIBCO BusinessWorks 6.x than TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.x .

We have not needed any training. The User interface is self explanatory and makes training unnecessary.Mainly because there's a small number of steps needed to create a replication job in Tibco Cloud Integration (Scribe). Manually selecting the entities to be replicated from our Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM was the most labour intensive part.

Implementation is a no-brainer, it's just installing the agent on our Microsoft SQL server environment. Linking it to the Tibco Cloud Integration platform and then setting up the connections to the source and destination systems. Once those steps have been done, it's just setting up the jobs using the connections and selecting the data we needed to be replicated.

Dell Boomi

We had previously used Adeptia to integrate, and they were night and day. Boomi is easier to set up, easier to use, easier to monitor, and faster. We have also used other custom solutions for integrating, and they don't compare with the robustness, speed, and accuracy of Boomi.

I've not used other integration products, but have heard of MuleSoft and Kingswaysoft. From my understanding, Scribe has less functionality but doesn't require coding experience. Scribe needs more connectors such as OneDrive for Business SharePoint and Zendesk. Most of my mapping needs are Excel & text workbooks and integrating those as endpoints is somewhat difficult with the current connector options.

We have not yet needed to scale the solution for which we use Tibco Cloud Integration. As mentioned earlier, we only use it to replicate our cloud hosted Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM environment. We don't have any plans to use the tool more extensively in the future.

Return on Investment

  • Boomi has very positive impact compared to other competitive tools. My clients are very happy that they can build their systems quickly and move data. Process development time is minimal and deployment is easy.
  • In my current project, within 6 months we were able to build processes and go live. Which was well appreciated and happy with their investment.
  • I do not find any negative impact to the business.

  • Data migrations from Salesforce to Workbooks used to take several days, if not weeks to export and manipulate the data resulting in a high cost project. Without Scribe we would have to rerun the migration again from the start, as it was often very different to complete delta runs easily. Now, we have created re-usable templates which provide a solution foundation for every project which we can build upon, making migration projects more effective and increasing ROI for our customers.
