What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

Druva is a definitely well suited for backing up SaaS apps; both mailboxes and other information in the cloud. I would highly recommend it for teams looking to go completely on the cloud instead of keeping all data on-prem.
Less suited for teams that don't necessarily wish to utilize the cloud.

Druva is a nice fit for IT teams looking to spend as little time as possible on managing their backups once the initial implementation of backup policies has been performed, it is pretty much a plug and play solution.

Less appropriate maybe for use cases where you don't need the data exiting your office building for compliance or related purposes.

It is a great solution for organizations looking to store data on the secure AWS cloud. For our hybrid workloads, Druva Data Resiliency Cloud also offers a nice long term retention policy for data that we don't need retrieved anytime soon, making the solution simpler.

Being 100% cloud only, it is excellent for companies looking to go completely virtually hosted.

Druva is a great suit for our both on-prem and virtual machines. I would strongly recommend it for any vendors who wish to be hands off when it comes to implementing their backup policies and keep an efficient environment.
It also works excellently with open APIs already implemented in the current IT landscape.

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud works great in multiple situations: We use it extensively as our Disaster Recovery solution primarily, along with for data backups.
It is a great solution for any vendor not looking to host their data within the company premises.
One scenario where Druva Data Resiliency Cloud would be less appropriate would be vendors who have a big IT team that is happy to manage data backups and daily admin tasks themselves.

there was a time when a critical Cxo user lost his laptop we were not only able to remotely wipe the laptop of all confidential information but also track the estimated location of the laptop. With Druva we safely recovered the data on the new laptop . This impressed our top management and lead to renewals and expansion discussion

Druva is suitable for all workloads. The solution is best when you need to protect on premise workloads and you are intending to move to cloud. If you have small volumes of data at remote sites the hardware-less approach gives the best value for money. Druva is highly capable of backing up large NAS workloads in a quick and efficient manner. It can be less appropriate for HyperV if you are also looking to leverage the DR capabilities of the product

Druva is very strong in both the security of the platform and it's ability to protect cloud SaaS workloads such as M365. The whole design of Druva lends itself to a security first approach with design decisions such as air-gapped storage in the Druva cloud powered by AWS. M365 data protection is a very strong area of Druva and is personally the best product I've used in the space. Druva could speed up delivery of new feature releases, however it's good to know that they are thoroughly tested before release.

M365 tenancies with 20-10k Exchange users.

Companies with different offices around the world, having vCenters in every single office. You will be able to protect all offices vCenters in same tenancy, but you will be able to limit which office to which vCenter has access and can restore/configure anything.

We had specific NIST requirements when searching for a cloud backup solution, and Druva met all the requirements. We needed a way to backup our data to a secure environment and multiple areas. If you need to backup different systems, virtual machines, email accounts, cloud environments, Druva covers all those solutions.

Druva does provide air-gap based backup solution where backup is taken to Druva's own AWS account which act as airgap solution with immutable storage
There is no tape backup supported by Druva

If you are an office 365 user and are not already backing up your 365 tenant, I can recommend Druva Data Resiliency Cloud to solve the problem. Onboarding was a breeze as is administration. It just works, it's that simple.

It is best for endpoints and server back as we experienced. 100% data availability is really appreciating. Support quality is excellent. Druva support is just few clicks away from customers.
There is requirement of improvement in remote deployment. There is need of any tool so that the client can be deployed remotely.

inSync's flexibility will appeal to organizations across many industries and use cases. As long as your endpoints somewhat regularly connect to the Internet, backups will be consistent. Since the entire solution is cloud-based, it works regardless of legacy infrastructure (and leadership!) or remote-first workforce. If your endpoints do not connect to the Internet frequently, inSync Cloud will not be especially appropriate. We do not have experience using Phoenix with cloud-native workloads (AWS/Azure instances), but it works great for our on-prem infrastructure.

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud is well suited for customers looking to have a single, simple GUI to manage their database admin-related workflow. It makes it easy to implement backup policies and manage them. Probably not a good fit for Azure VM protection right now and users looking to have in-office hardware servers for backups.

Druva is a good fit for scenarios where the IT team does not need to be very hands-on with the backup. Once you setup the backup policies the console pretty much manages itself. We also like the fact that the end user's work is not disrupted in any way when it comes to Druva client doing its job in the background. A future feature we'd like that Druva currently does not have would be auto enrollment of VMs when they are created within Hyper-V. Currently Druva has this option for other hypervisors.

Druva seems appropriate for any industry which needs to protect its data safely and securely while staying as hands-off as possible in terms of the daily admin tasks.
It's pretty much a use and forget solution in terms of setting the backup policies up initially and then letting the product do its job.

Druva is well-suited for scenarios such as both admin and end-user restore.
It can also be done through the Druva client and web restore. Even the public folders and shared mailboxes can be backed up by Druva.
The model of preserved users for keeping active licenses handy is really helpful.

Well suited to back-ul endpoints of a company. It is smart and optimizes the used storage by not backing up the same file twice if it is in different folders or if many users have the same file.
Maybe not that good for a single user since there are other cheaper solutions for that

It is suited for environments where a lot of critical data needs to be backed up and retained. Druva Data Resiliency Cloud's long term retention offering is also excellent that saves money and credits in the long term. Maybe not the best suited for the environment where the backups need to be on a server within the on-prem environment.

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud is a really good fit for vendors that would like to be as hands-off when managing their IT backup and protection responsibilities as possible. The AWS storage is secure and reliable in terms of keeping the business continuity going. Less appropriate maybe for very price-conscious customers but then you get what you pay for.
