As my personal brand began to get traction, more people were being led to my website to sign up for workshops. Still, in the bringing phase, I knew I could make improvements and needed to know which areas required that. SEMrush seemed like the best tool at the time and was! It was able to address the flaws in the website (such as speed, lack of metadata) and suggest solutions.
  • Efficiently research keywords.
  • Keep track of ranking.
  • Further understanding of competition.
Cons
  • Interface learning curve.
For an up-and-coming brand, this might be a great alternative to SEO companies. Though it takes time to learn and understand the ins and out of the platform, the insight you get from the data is worth it. And, knowledge of this side of the business is beneficial as well.

Strong Offering. I recommend it.

We use it for a variety of clients, especially ecommerce. It's pretty robust. A bit of a learning curve, but it's continually evolving and it seems becoming a bit more user-friendly. When I want to research a specific part or analyze a client or competitor, Semrush has what I need to do so.
  • Competitor Analysis
  • Site Audit - Problems with Sites
  • Paid Ad Viewing
Cons
  • Keyword Research
  • PPC Research
  • Bridging the gaps between their products within the suite.
It's strong for someone who's pretty OCD like myself. I am always shooting for 90+ out of 100 on their site audit tool. It is very helpful to know where things are broken. Using Semrush religiously sets us apart from other providers in our space. It shows our dedication and attention to detail without a lot of manual work.

SEMRush is used to run SEO reports and identify keyword opportunities for our clients. It gives us a turnkey way to stay on top of essential maintenance tasks and automate some of our marketing efforts. It is typically most important, as we onboard a new account, as a way of generating insight quickly and efficiently.
  • Keyword Analysis
  • SEO Reporting
Cons
  • Interface is fairly complex
  • Reports can take a while to generate
SEMRush is great for pulling information relevant to SEO for research purposes. However, a fair amount of intuition and experience must still be leveraged in interpreting the data provided, else one will find oneself going down many irrelevant rabbit holes fairly quickly.

We use SEMRush to monitor and adjust the usability of our company website in order to preserve the flow for those who search for us and our long-time users. It allows us to see where we rank in the searchability and how easy it is to use our website. It identifies broken links and repetitive links or pages on our website.
  • Tracks the broken links
  • search-ability factoring
  • ease of use for the website
Cons
  • Huge learning curve
  • not the most user friendly of products
  • hard to understand formatting
It is great for finding out how your website search results rank. Great for finding broken links and repetitive issues on websites. Not good for beginners.

The swiss-army knife of SEO tools

Rating: 10 out of 10
March 11, 2021
Semrush is our "swiss army knife". As an agency that focuses on search engine optimization, Semrush is a necessity. It makes us better and more efficient. We don't have to spend hours chasing down data and can all look at the same metrics. It makes my job much easier.
  • Provides data on search engine metrics
  • Keeps the team on the same page
  • Keeps up with the industry and the needs of search engine marketers
Cons
  • There is a learning curve for new users
  • Lots of data, but it requires analysis from an experienced SEO
  • The plans suck for agencies - can be expensive to have mutiple seats
Any agency or in-house SEO team should have a subscription. It's the must-have tool. for SEOs everywhere.
