Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

We use BigCommerce to host our e-commerce whole sale website where we sell directly to customers as well as b2b. We use BigCommerce for not just hosting our website but it is also the portal where our customers can find us.
  • BigCommerce has a very easy to use control panel.
  • Online store creation and editing is robust and pretty much everything is customizable.
  • Nice looking and decent built in templates.
  • Never any downtime since using it.
  • BigCommerce could use better account manager implementation.
  • The dashboard takes some getting used to in where you can find things at first.
  • Not as many third party tools as Shopify.
  • Switching to BigCommerce actually improved our SEO ranking just by making the switch.
  • BigCommerce allowed us to increase the amount of site visitors we had.
  • We ended saving a bit by switching our payment processing to Braintree powered by PayPal which BigCommerce offers a good rate for enterprise users only which is easy to set up.
I would say the scalability is the best part of BigCommerce, it comes with built in tools like abandon cart recovery for example. Using the abandon cart recovery as an example, it does a good job of automatically reaching out to our customers for us to tell them hey you forgot something in your cart here is a coupon code for it, but by downloading apps that partner with the BigCommerce marketplace we were able to make a better notification for people that had abandoned their carts. BigCommerce has lots of apps but at least it has things built into it so they aren't as necessary as other ecommerce platforms.
We use the BigCommerce open api to connect to our inventory system and integrations to our marketplaces. When an order is placed in BigCommerce for instance, our inventory system automatically gets that order declaration from BigCommerce using its API and then it updates across our marketplaces the new inventory quantity.
We used both Yahoo's ecommerce platform which was awful and very limited, not to mention incredibly difficult to find developers for, to also using Shopify Plus which had a lot going for it too but was surprisingly limited out of the box compared to BigCommerce but has more apps and more developers. BigCommerce is a happy medium in the middle for us and it has allowed us to scale our business up.

Do you think BigCommerce delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with BigCommerce's feature set?

Yes

Did BigCommerce live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of BigCommerce go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy BigCommerce again?

Yes

I like the BigCommerce platform because it actually does quite a lot of things for businesses of any size. It has the scalability potential right there and is pretty easy to use, if a colleague asked me as well if there are lots of developers for BigCommerce I would tell them that yes you can quite easily find a developer even though there aren't nearly as many as Shopify already has.
