Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT
We use the product for cultivating relationships with current and potential donors. Most importantly, we use it to manage communications with potentially high-level donors. The action items tool helps us to ensure we don’t overcommunicate or under-communicate with this population. Of course, we also use it to track gifts and donor contact info. we also use it to give us reports on our trending with regard to fundraising. We are considering a module that will give us insight into potential donors giving capacity. This is an exciting proposition, and I look forward to exploring this further. When recommending the product, I have to preface my remarks by saying there are other products out in the industry. This product is top-of-the-line, so its cost could be prohibitive for other nonprofits to use. But if cost is an issue, it is the premium product to use— so long as somebody on staff can interact with the database side of the program. That could be a concern if there is nobody in the organization that can work the logistics behind the database.

- The interface between the web-based program and the database side still needs work. Confusing for somebody who is not a database pro. I am not a database pro, but I know my way around a database – so it works for me.
- There are some features on the web-based side Let’s still not pull important information from the database side. I know all of this takes work, but more functionality on the web-based side would be important to develop.
- I know the pricing structure is important for profitability, but it would be good to delay some functions to be able to add others at no additional cost.

- Gift management This may seem basic, but the program is outstanding in making sure we are track and gifts from donors.

- We certainly have healthier relationships with donors because of this program. It makes sure that we do not under-communicate or overcommunicate with donors. What that means is when I donor doesn’t get back to you we are prompted in a few weeks to try to reach out again. Many times, this prompts a donor to respond.
- We have a much better handle on who gives to unrestricted funds versus specific areas. We also have an idea of how consistent a donor has been over the years and giving to us. All valuable information to have.
The analytics provided by the product are outstanding. They give us insight into how people are giving. For example, last year if you were donors gave higher level gifts – causing an outstanding year for us financially. Seeking higher-level gifts is an important element of our fundraising strategy, and the product helps us to demonstrate that to the board and executive leadership.

Raiser’s Edge is superior to the other products I’ve mentioned. But that doesn’t mean the other products are out of the running. There is a great deal of backend support needed for this product as well as some of the others. Some of them have less functionality, but also less complexity. That’s an important decision that needs to be made for each nonprofit (especially smaller ones).
