Overall Satisfaction with ClickUp
We started off using Jira for software development but also wanted to expand its use to manage other tasks within the organization. The problem we quickly came across was that Jira was cost effective for under 10 users but costs blew out significantly above that. In particular, just about every half decent feature we wanted to use was only available as a paid add-on from a third party and not part of the core product. There were also other annoyances like dated UI, very rigid structure in terms of levels, no ability to have multiple assignees on tasks, etc. We went looking for an alternative and initially tried Asana and Trello but they also had many shortcomings that we couldn't get over. Through our search efforts we eventually came across ClickUp. It was the perfect fit for our organization. It did everything Jira, Asana and Trello did but was more feature rich, easier to use and didn't cost an arm and a leg by comparison (and we're on a Business Plan so it's definitely not the cheapest option, but we wanted the extra features). Now we use ClickUp across the entire organization from management, to IT, to marketing and operations.
Pros
- Task Management with multi-assignee flexibility.
- Fine-grained control of notifications.
- Not limited to multi-level task breakdown.
- Modern, intuitive UI.
Cons
- Implementing new feature requests.
- Better multi-level folder structuring.
- Better integrated diagramming on tasks.
- Clear accountability for tasks.
- Work is not falling between the cracks.
- Clear tracking of time spent on tasks.
We used to use messaging apps like Skype and Teams for ad-hoc collaboration, but the problem would be that work would often fall between the cracks. ClickUp has been able to address this operational requirement, and we're able to use it just as well for ad-hoc operational work as well as for project work, which we used it for initially. We've gone as far as integrating into our ERP system so that all tasks related to orders, returns, etc., are now managed in ClickUp rather than elsewhere.
We were sick of using multiple tools, all with their own associated costs, integrations, etc. ClickUp has really been a breath of fresh air as we've been able to consolidate multiple apps including Todoist, Jira, Confluence, and Redmine into a single app that we now use for absolutely everything under the sun from software development to operations.
For us, ClickUp was the happy medium between the extensive features offered by Jira (but at an exorbitant cost) and the more modern feel of something like Asana and Trello but with fewer features. ClickUp has really taken all the best features from all these apps and put it into a single app with a single cost, so now we can have everything in one place. It's really just made life so much easier.
