Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare as the primary CDN to serve the largest chunk of our dynamic and static content. Cloudflare solves low-latency content delivery, security, and monitoring for our engineering teams. Within Cloudflare, we use dynamic image transformation, country-level customization, geofencing, and origin protection, among other things. This powers most of our primary workload, with failovers on other CDNs.
  • Serving low-latency content.
  • Edge compute to solve for personalization.
  • Origin protection, so that you save costs overall.
  • Regular expression-based rules for Pages.
  • Reduced cost of serving content.
  • Reduced efforts in maintaining A/B test stack.
  • Faster page load times.
Cloudflare is notably simpler and cheaper as compared to CloudFront. If we also consider the corresponding edge compute mechanism, CloudFront has more complexity in maintaining it. For instance, in order to maintain our A/B test stack on CloudFront, we need to maintain three separate functions, whereas, on Cloudflare, it requires us to do it just once. Configuring page rules is also simpler. Enabling Brotli, H/3, etc., has also been a lower effort on Cloudflare.
The onboarding process was smooth. The Cloudflare dashboard is excellent for self-service. Our engineers were able to comprehend things and transition services rapidly. Our team was enabled to be successful with Cloudflare. We were able to find value within a couple of days of migrating the workload in a production environment.
Support is responsive and available. One factor which probably should be addressed for enterprise customers – sometimes, some of the engineers take more time to comprehend the exact nature of the issue. A few of the issues which require a deep understanding of the Cloudflare stack and of the internet, in general, don't get fast resolution.

Do you think Cloudflare delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cloudflare's feature set?

Yes

Did Cloudflare live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cloudflare go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cloudflare again?

Yes

Cloudflare is suited when your products are growing rapidly, and you want to leverage a global network with features that suit your delivery strategy. Dynamic image compression, optimization, resizing. Dynamic video optimization and compression of assets on-the-fly are some of the use cases which are otherwise tricky to address. Cloudflare is also good when it comes to API delivery to clients of different classes.
