Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro to have a global vision of a project or problem. We also have Figma and FigJam as tools, but so far Miro's been the most intuitive for most people as we need something that they can easily use to visualize user flows, screens, connexions, and interactions. We usually use it in parallel with Figma, where the designs are made, and then Miro is used to give opinions, highlight desired changes, etc.

We also use it for retros, in which case it's basically a whiteboard.
  • Ease of use (everyone's been able to pick it up and go)
  • Speed (we have very large canvaces and they load rather quickly)
  • Flexibility (timers, markers, stickers, emojis, it's all there)
  • Elegant (the visual language is easy to read, clean, and polished)
  • The product could be more fun to use (see how FigJam has micro animations for some emojis, high fives between team members, etc...)
  • I wish the connection between Miro and other apps was even better
  • Improved productivity (we work mostly remote so it's important to have this type of experience available)
  • Clearer vision (it allows everyone to contribute, which means we can set goals in a very visual way and everyone can see it and contribute)
Did not participate
It makes it easy to have everyone in one place digitally. The impact is similar to having everyone standing in a room, except we're spread across multiple countries. It made the divide between office and home working very minimal, plus, unlike a regular whiteboard, we keep these around in a way that's easy to reference or edit down the road.

I find FigJam's integration with Miro to be better than Miro's. I know about the Miro plugin. It's not really comparable because FigJam is Figma's product, but the closer Miro can get, the more value it has. At the moment we're split between FigJam and Miro because of this.

Also the animations. Make Miro fun to use, it's not a business metric, but it's the kind of things that get people attached to products. We kept using Asana, despite having Jira, for wayyyyy too long and I'm sure part of it is because of that silly unicorn.
Miro is a great whiteboard tool. At the moment the only competitor I'd consider is Figjam, though sadly it's been acquired. I feel like Miro will have to provide a lot more value going forward though. We already use it in parallel with Figma, so in the long run Figjam might make more sense. I like Miro so far though, so please find a way to integrate even more with third party apps.

TL;DR: As a whiteboard, fabulous, in parallel with other apps, less than, say, Figjam.

Using Miro

  • Allowing people to see and contribute to a single planning
  • Allow people to contribute like they would on a regular whiteboard
  • Give feedback and comments
  • Design sprints
  • It's replaced going to the office for group sessions
  • We've used it for design sprints
  • If we could have calls in Miro, like you can in Figma, it'd be very useful. Sometimes you just want to have a quick call and staying in one product is nice.
Unfortunately, I'm not involved in the decision of renewing Miro or not, but I can't imagine we'd stop using it, it's one of the most popular software within the company. At the same time, I like using it even though I also like FigJam, so I can't see myself stop using it going forward.
