Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
Sage Intacct is used by my company's accounting department. This robust system is fully capable of handling project-based financial accounting, which we required as we are in the government contracting space. Sage Intacct provides flexibility and impressive customization. It was a huge upgrade for my company, which was previously using a very 'clunky' government contracting software product. Sage Intacct has a smooth and intelligent interface, allowing the user to drill down and get to detail in an intuitive way.
- Vendor and customer history: because these records are linked throughout the transactions (payables, receivables, journal transactions) it's very simple to run a GL report and filter it by vendor, customer and/or employee
- Filters: the ability to filter the dimensions (account, class, project, etc.) makes looking up information - or solving 'accounting mysteries'! :-) very easy. The staff here are always impressed at how quickly accounting can provide the report information that they dream up.
- Customization of reports: while learning the report-building process takes some time, it is truly limitless when it comes to creating the custom report that you or your supervisor needs.
- Groups: The concept of creating and using account groups, project groups, vendor groups, etc. (i.e. a subset of any dimension, used to run reports with multiple 'members' of a certain dimension) was new to me when I started using Sage Intacct and it is incredibly helpful and time-saving.
- Sage Intacct's reporting capabilities are boundless and impressive, but I wish there were more readily available (and low-cost) training, even if it's DIY training. The reporting function is complex - although certainly worth the time to learn it.
- I have found that the main menu of modules changes around frequently, which is a little frustrating. Perhaps I just need to change my settings to have it stay fixed.
- Sometimes adding an item to a list (expense type, bank account, etc.) is difficult in that the various connections you need to make to the new item aren't always obvious and can take significant time to figure out.
- Positive: improved reporting leads to much happier management.
- Positive: improved confidence in the accounting system by management.
- Positive: improved visibility into project status keeps project managers informed.
Although our previous accounting system (GL system) did this, it did so in a very slow and clunky way with little visibility between screens and modules. Sage Intacct allows users to breeze between modules while keeping them connected. The system works quickly and efficiently and allows one to add vendors, contacts, accounts, etc. on the fly - a huge time-saver.
The use of the Project Management module was of paramount importance to our company, as our work is always project-based. Being able to quickly run GL, P&L, summary, or detail reports by project OR by customer helps business productivity and business analysis.
When comparing products, Sage Intacct had the best level of configurable customization within a cost level that we would be able to handle. It also had the smoothest user interface of the various products I reviewed. It is light years ahead of the product that we had been using prior to implementing Sage Intacct, 'Procas'.
