Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop Enterprise
Each of our staff (8 people) has Splashtop on their computers that they can log into from wherever they want, access is available to the end-user and to management. It's super easy and intuitive for us, and since we don't have a dedicated IT person, that's important! It doesn't matter what device you are logging in from because you are using the office computer itself to do everything. On rare occasions, we get some lag, but mostly it's as if you were on your office computer, whether at home or out in the field on a phone or tablet.
- Remote work is simple and intuitive.
- We can print locally (home/field) from remote computer.
- They do it all for a reasonable price! Add and remove users as you need them.
- Ability to lock and blank your remote screen is important, and also easy to use.
- The authentication process the first time you set it up is a bit cumbersome, requiring access to email at work when you are at home, or someone in the office to use your email to authenticate your account and then again to authenticate your first time connecting from a new device. I have people install it on their phone first and authenticate that while at work, then use that to get their authentication email when at home. Not all of our staff want to set their phones up with access to work email, so that works well, but it's not as convenient as I would like.
- I literally can't think of anything other than the initial setup on a new device that needs improvement.
- When the Covid-19 lockdowns went into effect, we were all able to quickly and easily pivot to working from home. Priceless!
This isn't actually a big issue for us, but I appreciate that it's there. The two-factor authentication for setting up a new computer or device that will be remotely accessing the office is probably very wise but is definitely a little frustrating. Only has to be done once per device though!
We were up and running within a day.
Yes - GoToMyPC shot their prices up so we went looking for a replacement. Splashtop has not only been more affordable, but it also works better and has fewer problems with lag and transferring files.
