6sense

6sense is well suited in areas such as creating a campaign for our site. For example, "grill season". It makes it easy to create a campaign to advertise all our grills, best selling [grills] and create certain price updates/categories. It is not as useful on the product campaign, coupon and sales level, but still more useful than platforms we have used in the past.

Chartbeat

Chartbeat is well suited for a company that wants to know at a specific moment of time how many users are on the website. It is great to have up on a screen in the background of a room so people can glance at it whenever they want. It doesn't do a whole lot other than tell you the basic numbers

  • Real-time data is Chartbeat's strength. Their "NOW" dashboard gives you actionable information.

Cons

  • Some of the terms used are a learning process for our team, but the site is easy to navigate.
  • Although the site is easier to navigate, it has a lot of facets that take time to learn where elements are saved.

I gave Chartbeat a 5 for a renewal rating, because, while it delivers clear and understandable content, Google Analytics also provides many of the same features for free. For a small to medium website, I believe it would be more cost effective to use Google Analytics. A website with a high amount of traffic, however, could merit spending the money on Chartbeat to maximize their potential.

Alternatives Considered

Oracle is not user-friendly. It is outdated and confusing, also makes it hard to enter in and out of certain tabs/areas within the platform. 6sense is more in-depth and has more functional abilities compared to Salesforce.

GA is free, but often hard to use. Allowing access to GA for a client can often lead to a ton of unnecessary conversations like, "Hey why is this page doing so poorly." For a 30,000 ft view, you can give your executive what they want to see without opening the entire kimono. I currently use Gaug.es. It's cheaper and a bit more simplified. But I like it's quick read format that allows me to view all 10 of my clients sites at once.

  • Using real-time analytics you can make quick adjustments to new content that is not getting the expected uptick.
  • Identify content that is trending up, and give it a boost.
  • Get a good view of your audience and activity on multiple sites at once.
