8x8 Virtual Office Enterprise Suite

Some of the best scenarios are working remotely. It really allows you to get everything you need out of an office phone right from your computer/cell without any need for hardware. It's not great when you've already plugged in a dialer of some sort, or software like Outreach.io that has some overlap in features (click to dial, especially).

Great for both small and large businesses. Great for mobile agents when you have the call center licence to forward calls appropriately. Does not work well if the agents aren't tech savvy, there is a learning curve to use the fonality system to the best of its ability. Although, the webinars provide good instruction. The ability for managers to listen in on calls with a call center license will help with training new recruits.

Pros

  • Managing VM
  • Caller ID
  • Virtual TXT
  • Reliability of the system
  • The customization of the inbound call experience
  • Ability to transfer calls to a softphone, hardphone and cell phone
  • Great customer service

Cons

  • Integration with Insidesales/Salesforce/Outreach/etc.
  • RAM usage could be lower
  • Cross platform?
  • It would be nice if the landline would also ring when you are using the computer hub and a headset.
  • A hold button on the cordless device would be wonderful as well.
  • Maybe provide a second charging station.

With us it's all about price, price, price. If I can show a system that is cheaper then we would switch. There is another option of a plain asterisk box but then there is no support. You will be on your own. Note: Fonalty is just selling you asterisk with their customization. The core part of Fonalty is asterisk and if you have the skill set, you don't need Fonalty you can do this on your with free asterisk box. but as we need the support from Fonality and do not have an asterisk expert on staff we will continue to renew our service with Fonalty.

Overall excellent usability, with a few adjustments I feel this is the absolute best VoIP system out there. Just a clarification on the licences and limit the interface to reflect what licence we have. There should be a back or redunancy feature to Fonality Server, If there was a mistake we should be able to resort back to a usable state asap. Before implementing changes to the server, there should be a trial or sample of the changes to make sure it behaves as intended before effecting customer experience. It would be nice to have a demo version of Fonality interface so possible clients can truly evauluate the system. Because of the quality, it would have made it easier to convince the owners to make the transition sooner

Support has been great from start to finish. They sent me an Excel spreadsheet questionnaire on how we would like the system to behave. The tech made the initial setup very easy. We took 1 month to finalize and test the new system before we ported over our main number. All the support from technical training for the admins and user support on issues like call transfers. The system works flawlessly, but there is a learning curve to use all the benefits of Fonality

Training was excellent, but most of what they had was webinars and not real world situation for our company's need. It would be better to have them remote in my local computer and test my system using inbound / outbound calls. This would have made it easier to learn and more relevant

Everything from the installation to the implementation has been great with Fonality, there is a lot of freedom to how the system will operate but the freedom comes at a cost of more technical experience to make sure it is configured correctly. The staff is very helpful can will make sure that the system is setup correctly and work perfectly.

Alternatives Considered

I had no control over this but we are using 8x8 virtual office enterprise suite to get some of the functionality, mostly click to dial and contact handling. It's not exactly a competitor, but if you're looking for an easy way to utilize your company phone system remotely, I've had a great experience, including working from home for an entire month on it.
We looked at 8x8 and RingCentral but ultimately opted to move our existing Fonality PBXtra installation to the Fonality cloud because the call queue monitoring features offered the most for the money. The HUD application is also a big selling point in favor of Fonality. Also, since we were only switching the underlying hardware deployment, we didn't have a learning curve to overcome with a new system. Pricewise, Fonality landed in between 8x8 and RingCentral for the basic services, but the other two didn't offer the same feature set we already had with the Call Center option so the price was actually the lowest with that factored in.

Its real great

Return on Investment

  • I've reached more leads and contacts than before because I can text to set appointments
  • We are still trying to get figures on how much this has cost us in lost business, and additional time from all our employees in trying to troubleshoot this system. It has cost us a few thousand at least.
