Any business that has workers in multiple locations or workers who are based out for the office for significant periods of time will really benefit from the 8x8 cloud-based system. Your direct line follows you around, but because of the Virtual Attendant, office hours and out of hours can be configured so that you only receive calls when you're "at work."

Articulate 360

I can't imagine being able to do my job and do it well without Articulate 360. I am able to create simple linear training courses and complex branching courses with ease. Some of the greatest training courses involve a "choose your own adventure" feel with many branches and the outcome is based upon the points earned through the course. The better decisions, the better the outcome. Importing from PowerPoint is easy. The content library that comes with 360 is very helpful. Images are crystal clear, high-resolution, and able to be used with any use. No need for me to have subscriptions to other content services anymore. I love how easy it is now to create a video background with the content library included in 360.

Articulate 360

  • Articulate 360 has lots of options: Rise is for simple, HTML-based course content delivery. Storyline is an animation/interactive eLearning designer that is robust yet easy to learn.
  • It totally simplifies the review process. When I want to have my boss look at a course I made, I create the Articulate Review link and he can make comments at any point in the course for suggestions/corrections, and the program takes a picture of where he is looking so I know exactly what he is talking about. I can also comment back.
  • The content library is high quality and professional. You can search images of people, backgrounds for Storyline projects, or entire project templates that you just plug your content into. It allows you to create content really fast and good looking.

  • Voicemail passwords. 8x8 imposes certain limitations on voicemail passwords, like not letting you use any number combination that is also a year between 1900 and 2019 I think. We have used the number combination 1957 for a particular purpose, not related to the year, but 8x8 will not allow us to use this as a voicemail password. I think users should be able to choose whatever passcode they'd like for their voicemail, as long as it's 4-digits or more, or whatever the parameters are.

  • There could be more intuitive buttons in many places. Without a "getting started" training, it might be tough to just try and figure out how to do things in the software.
  • The software has been known to be a little buggy (all versions). It is known that you should save your work often in case it crashes.
  • I wish the the vendor would build in more integrated instruction and tips withing the interface, so you can be reminded or clued in to what you are looking for if you are not an expert yet.

We've had an excellent experience with 8x8 Virtual Office. We have downtime very rarely and the service provided by all reps is excellent. The little quirks that I've mentioned as cons are minor inconveniences but I prefer working like that than hosting our own PBX.

The web interface is easy to navigate and the data that I need is only ever one or two clicks away. When running reports, I don't have to deal with convoluted filters or awkward logic implementations, it just works and it works well. If I had to fault it for something, I would say that the interface is not consistent all over the place; The account manager portal and the Virtual Office portal have two completely different styles.

Once you get over the learning curve, the platform is pretty easy to use, but the learning curve itself is rather steep. Even once you are familiar with the feature set, it is easy to overlook a small setting, which can cause client-facing errors. Correcting these errors is kind of a tedious process due to having to load up the application, make your change, and re-publish the course.

In the time I have used 8x8 Virtual Office, the core system has been up and running almost flawlessly though we do have a slight performance degradation from time to time as is expected of cloud software. The one recurring issue for us is that the fax connection is not always functional for outbound messages. We usually have to retry three or four times to get the fax to connect reliably to the destination machine. Once connected, it's smooth sailing.

None of the features that are available slow down the application. The reports (even the ones with hundreds of records) complete very quickly and the web interface as well as the mobile application never struggle to load or complete a task. The analytics will sometimes take some time to reflect the online status of users but it is to be expected due to connection speeds.

Whenever I call the customer support people, they are very helpful. Early in our use of the product, we configured something incorrectly and couldn't figure out how to fix it. I called customer service and they quickly explain how to fix it after making a few changes on their end. Very helpful!

Their user communities are amazing. Employees answer questions very quickly and other users often answer them as well. For additional support, you can reach out to their IT support team. Support tickets are generally resolved within a day as well.

When looking at phone systems for my office several years ago, I reviewed three different systems that were recommended to me. The 8x8 sales person who made the original presentation was extremely helpful in identifying the things I needed to fit my particular single office situation. She didn't try to sell me more that I needed.

I haven't used development software other than storyline since it came out. One, because I haven't had to. This software is much more user-friendly and rapid development than previous software I have used. It also is capable of creating pretty complex items. I recommended out team get Articulate 360 because of its new additions such as Review.

We've had periods where our organization has grown a considerable amount and we have had no issues in scaling our communications with 8x8. The number of possible extensions that we can use is far more than we expect to go through in a very long time. The only complaint that I have is a very minor inconvenience for me where I have to download activation codes for each phone. I would prefer to have the phones automatically activated as soon as they are plugged in.

  • The subscription model of Articulate 360 paid for itself almost immediately by providing access to some awesome stock content in the Content Library. We used to spend hundreds of dollars buying content that is now included in our membership to a tool we were already paying for.
  • The greatest return on our investment has come in the form of time. Stakeholders love Articulate Review. It's easy to check the progress of the course creation, see what issues have been addressed by the development team, and provide feedback-- cutting back on everyone's least favorite thing: MEETINGS.
