Acquisio is ideal for marketing agencies, especially those that focus on serving a specific market. If your Agency has access to client data, depending on the data, Acquisio's software could be a powerful way to deliver that data in the form of online ads. Acquisio might be too powerful for a small business looking to manage campaigns in-house.

Marin Software

It's well suited when you have to integrate it with another data source, like an FTP for example. The dimensions you can assign to campaigns or ad group levels help for easier performance management and reporting.What makes it difficult is that everytime you need to update anything on the account, you can't use the publisher but have to do it through Marin. This makes the whole process very time consuming and causes more mistakes. Also if you have paused anything on the publisher and you don't remember to sync marin after, all changes on the publisher will get lost if you make new changes on marin

Pros

  • Provides multiple methods of viewing and sharing campaign data. It is definitely an upgrade from the basic PPC reports. Fully customizable and new features are being added regularly.
  • Acquisio now provides support for the importation of the video campaign data. This saves her company lots of time as we used to have to do this process manually.
  • Aquisio now has instant chat support in the platform which saves a lot of time as you can get quick answers to any problems you may be having.

  • Budgeting. Marin allows you to easily see budget and manage budget across engines. It is easy to shift budget from google and bing in real time.
  • Bidding. We have found the bidding tool extremely successful across our clients to lower cost per conversions and save money.

Cons

  • Some of the screens in the platform take a little while to load and you may need to refresh.
  • More details on mobile campaigns would be helpful but Acquisio is limited by what is available in the PPC provider's API.
  • Hopefully they will add support for more fonts soon.

  • Account representatives and upper management aren't always the most helpful when dealing with business effecting issues.
  • Some small minor changes require a bulk sheet when they can easily be done in the interface if Marin had that ability.
  • Doesn't seem like there is any progression by the Marin team to make updates to the tool.

I think the platform, with the latest release updates has a lot of great potential. The main decision, currently, is price and how that gets passed on to our clients. There has to be a conscious decision made on platform cost vs client spend and overall budget vs revenue.

We have a solid Marin account team that is thoroughly invested in our business. They are insightful, helpful, and are always willing to walk us through any new features or retrain us on old ones. Additionally, the sales dept at Marin has been helpful in providing use-cases, whitepapers, and other documents that have assisted our sales team with closing new business.

My experience with Acquisio is a tale of two situations. We had a customer service rep named Jeannie who was supernaturally gifted at anticipating and solving our issues. Her response time was so fast it felt like she was responding before I even hit SEND on our emails. Jeannie was deservedly promoted and support has been a little slower and we have had to make multiple requests to get answers since.

Marin software support was always responsive and could easilly look into the account to help solve the problem. IT was very helpful and they would even respond by email or phone whichever you prefer.

Interactive helpful videos, summaries, and quizzes help a user learn the platform in demo-mode. The only challenge was that once you clicked certain buttons per instructions, you couldn't necessarily go back to retake notes without redoing the entire module.

I think if we had known what we wanted, the implementation would have been perfect. Since we didn't, there was quite a bit of back and forth between ethology and the implementation team at Marin. The process ended up taking a lot longer than we expected it to take, but worked out in the end.

In terms of reporting Acquisio offers a much more flexible platform where you can fully customize and schedule reports as needed.

I have actually used both Marin and Omniture with the same client- both are beneficial in different ways. We used Omniture to pull in all revenue data as we didn't want Google to be pulling in rev info for privacy reasons.

  • For our Local paid search team, it increased our account managers productivity an incredible amount. When running on DoubleClick, AMs were expected to manage no more than 80 accounts per person. After the transition to Marin, some AMs were managing up to 130 accounts efficiency.
  • When it comes to customer service, I was incredibly impressed the first 6-8 months. Then everything fell apart. We had a dedicated account manager but they wanted to push all issues through their support center. I understand why they would want to do this, but the support center didn't know our unique setup and, quite honestly, half-assed everything that came their way. This happened across teams in the company as well. I definitely saw an alarming decline in customer service over time.
