Considered Both Products
BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans excels in the areas where Zoom and Skype for Business fail. The software is easy to use, there is no need for installing or multiple windows. Client use of BlueJeans has been positive compared to other options and overall BlueJeans is simply just easy to use.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
I would say Skype for Business gave us the worst experience.
Teams are easy and very convenient; however, it is not useful for clients outside the organization.
Some clients use Zoom and work perfectly fine. However, I feel it a bit more complicated than BlueJeans.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
Skype for Business is unreliable in terms of audio. For some reason, not everyone within the organization is able to communicate via this product. We are currently testing Zoom. It is very similar to BlueJeans and so far I find the set up less intuitive than BlueJeans.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
  • Zoom is very easy to use and easy to invite external invitees. I think BlueJeans is better than Zoom in terms of quality
  • Skype for Business: I remember so many issues with things like users, active directory problems, and quality problems. BlueJeans is better, however, Skype for …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
We needed a tool that allowed our external users to effortlessly join and collaborate with our internal team. This is where this tool really shines compared to some of the others. BlueJeans fit the need and when it was time for collaboration we were thrilled to hear BlueJeans …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans Meetings is the most deluxe, feature-heavy webinar and virtual meetings software program I have used. We began using it to connect for All-Hands Meetings for our country-wide company offices without needing to travel to be together, and we transitioned to using it …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
  • Much much better than Skype
  • Very similar to Zoom, but with better audio/video quality
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans was the preferred option over Skype for the reasons mentioned throughout the review, far more intuitive, easy guest access, improved video and audio quality, substantially better on tools (breakout rooms, whiteboard etc).
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
Because BlueJeans is not device dependent. We can use existing legacy VCon devices with BlueJeans.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans is reasonably close to Zoom. I do not have a paid account with Zoom, so I prefer BlueJeans when setting up a scheduled meeting. The app is very intuitive and feels relatively non-invasive. I like the phone-in service provided. We have used this quite a lot for …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
I know BlueJeans through a customer (Inchcape) and I prefer the design, stability and security.
For events I use WebinarJam, I've never used BlueJeans Events in order to compare.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
I chose BlueJeans for the integration with Polycom and Cisco Room systems. The audio quality and Dolby rooms have kept us with the service.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
More convenient and less error-prone.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
We selected BJ because of the high quality of connection across continents for many participants.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
The UX of the BlueJeans app is very easy to manage meetings, raising instant meetings, single clicks to join, recording, screen sharing, and ability to be used in low network coverage brings many advantages comparing to the other tools. Giving webinars and meetings to hundreds …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
I have used Skype and Zoom. I don't recall really much about Zoom and Skype, outside of they seemed a bit more complicated to use. Skype annoys me actually, because the sign in box pops up EVERY TIME I open up my computer. I would really like it to just go away.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans seems to have more functionality when sharing screens. Also if a user on the other end does not have it set up, it can be difficult to use.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans has provided a better product than it's competitor's time after time. As I interact with other companies, I'll have to use different communication tools, and BlueJeans are always the more seamless enjoyable meetings. Other tools have issues with communication, audio …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans is by far superior to all other kinds of software I have used. It is easy to use, both for the presenter and the participants. It is a simple technology that does not require you to need a phone and a computer. And, it works outside your organization via the simple …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
I prefer BlueJeans to the other technologies we've evaluated. It has the best combination of video/audio quality and user experience. Many of the other technologies require downloading the app or simply have a bad experience. They're all flawed in their own way, BlueJeans seems …
Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams
Chose Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams
This app integrates the features and functionality of Slack and Zoom into one app. This, when coupled with other MS platforms like Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive, and others makes this app a very compelling option when compared to others.
Chose Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams
BlueJeans is good for having smaller meetings and the ability to communicate with large groups, but I have noticed more lag time and glitches with BlueJeans which led me to look for alternative options. I think BlueJeans also has a less intuitive design and looks less sleek, so …
Chose Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams
Skype for Business is a bit more user-friendly to use than BlueJeans. BlueJeans is great, but I've had connection issues in the past, whereas I haven't had any problems with connections on Skype. I use both programs for different companies, and I'd say Skype if my go-to …

  • Collaboration with team members, clients and partners who spread out across the globe is made simple by Bluejeans meeting. As an Application developer it is easier for me to collaborate with people from various cultures and time zones so this is very important.
  • For code review , it plays an excellent role, it enables real time screen sharing and code discussion among my team, this facilitate quicker and more effective bug detection and correction.
  • Pair programming is a great use for it. It make possible for two programmers to collaborate on same code even when they are not physically near to each other.

Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams is a remote/virtual team collaboration tool must have...especially if you already use Microsoft tools. Of course, since it now part of an MS 365 subscription, it really doesn't make sense to use anything else. It is easy to use and just works. I'm not sure how anyone who works with digital files/documents and needs to work with other people doing similar work can be effective without such a tool. Of course, there are a number of alternatives like Zoom or Webex, but why pay or use another separate tool if you don't need to. :-)

Pros

  • Bluejeans' ability to record meetings would be beneficial for future references like If I ever needed to revisit a discussion or training sessions, I could access the recorded content, eliminating the need to take extensive notes during meeting.
  • Calendar program and messaging services are just a couple of the productivity and collaboration tools that Bluejeans frequently integrates with, scheduling of meeting and team members communication would become more efficient as a result.
  • Typically, bluejeans provides mobile app, making it usable on tables and smartphone, this enables me to take part in a meeting even if I am not near a computer system.

  • Instant messaging to anyone who we know only by name/email. Even if they're offline, they get the message in missed convos and a notification automatically goes to them via Outlook mail. All conversations are saved and accessible via Outlook.
  • Video and voice calls are a norm in the WFH scenario, and an average employee has around 4-5 calls a day. Skype gives notifications for upcoming meetings, allows easy scheduling via outlook calendar, and its audio/video quality [is] reasonably good compared to the amount of data it consumes.
  • Status availabilities - in the WFH scenario, you could be off for lunch, out of office, busy, sharing screens - and might not want to be disturbed. Skype allows you to do that, and in case you're off, ensures that you know that you have missed messages.
  • Screen sharing - we have to share screens at least once or twice a day with a coworker when working on some issues/features, and Skype easily lets us do that. One of the best things about Skype is that the screen can be shared without being on a video/voice call - which is of immense advantage because oftentimes, you could prefer sharing the screen, while it [is] too noisy to talk.

  • Video quality is different between their desktop app version and web browser version
  • I prefer using Bluejeans web browser version but it lack many features which are there in their Desktop App version, which is really disappointing.
  • Not a big issue but if they decrease their pricing, it will be great

  • Connection issues can be hard to diagnose when they come up(as some knowledge of server information may be needed to reestablish as the connection troubleshooting options on the sky are not as user-friendly as the rest of the platform.
  • Some issues setting up camera/sound could use more info on troubleshooting options with playback sound, video, etc.
  • Statuses sometimes are unreliable and do not display correctly .

I have used many other competing platforms platforms; however, despite the fact that BlueJeans lacks certain features others offer, familiarity, ease of use, and several things BlueJeans does better than others mean that I will stick to BlueJeans. Further, whenever I have faced a problem, I have found BlueJeans support excellent overall; no lengthy wait to understand and resolve an issue. Good product, great support, BOTH TESTED OVER TIME; I do not have an incentive to move to another platform.

The software is simple to install and configure. It is rather simple to explain for correct use. It is possible to profile users for the different functions offered. It is integrated quite completely with Outlook and with Active Directory security. It performs all communication functions well with one or more interlocutors and the possibility of granting control of your computer is convenient.

Usability
Discontinued Products
I don't have much experience of joining a meeting from an attendee of someone else's. As for joining a meeting I've created, it's very easy. For recurring meetings, I find the meeting in my list, and if it's near the time to start, there will be a "Join" button, and I just push that. After that, it gives me the options for joining -- video, audio, phone, screen share only. It remembers my previous choices, so mostly I just can click by that. As for attendees joining, there do seem to be connection problems from time to time and people have to log off and come back on, but we had that trouble with GoToMeeting also. Being able to mute attendees is much better in BlueJeans. When we had GoToMeeting, I constantly had problems with people joining by phone incorrectly, such that they didn't even show up in the meeting list and thus I couldn't mute them when needed.

Very easy to use. Even though Microsoft Teams has a lot of features and integrations, as a user I feel completely comfortable on finding what I need, getting information about the app extensions and using them. It's a very comprehensive tool, intuitive design and does not make me feel tired to be using it. I am glad with the current experience.

This has been a continual issue with our organization. We are a IP/H323 infrastructure so we integrate BlueJeans via the IP/H323 connections to the cloud. In all these years, there has been ONE instance when a problem I pointed out (with screenshots, no less) was DENIED. Skpe for business is utilized company wide in regards to my company. Everyone not only uses it, but uses it often. It is an effective way of communicating. It also integrates very nicely with outlook and all conversation history is pushed to a folder within the outlook system. We also have it so that if someone misses a message, they are sent an email reminder saying that there is a message that went unread.

Select Blujeans Meetings because it allows me to better convey my ideas and at the same time build trust through real-time videoconferences. As well as sharing documents and presentations via screen sharing, I love the option to record play and then share the recording to colleagues who couldn't attend is what's needed.

Scalability
Discontinued Products
I believe BlueJeans is easy to scale, but we have a different business model that requires a more central scheduling need. Most vendors operate on an enterprise wide environment with a one to one licensing. We have a centralized group of video administrators and schedulers that do the majority of the scheduling for multiple departments. Because we are a centralized scheduling group we need shared access to on schedule not multiple users delegating access to one another. I.E. if I have 5 schedulers, under the current licensing they would each have individual accounts and delegating those accounts to one another. So when receiving a support call they have to search 5 individual schedules to make changes to meetings. This I think is a valid need even for smaller businesses that just have a few schedulers for the rest of the groups. It would be easier if it scaled within the individual accounts

  • All-Hands meetings were improved to feel less like a prerecorded video show and more like an actual conversation using BlueJeans.
  • Client meetings remained smooth in the transition to working-from-home with easy video calling and scheduling.
  • These were the main points that helped my department, as I am unfamiliar with how BlueJeans was implemented in external sales uses, but I imagine it was equally helpful for meetings when in-person was not available.
