In all honestly I don’t know a situation where Ceridian Powerpay would not be appropriate to use. I have used it at a company with 12 employees, and at a company with 100 employees. The system works great regardless of company size and the benefits significantly outweigh any (if any) negatives.
I only have experience with the system in the hospitality industry but it covered all our needs and more that I can only imagine that would apply to other industries as well.

In my own experience, the specific data that you see in the software is a great aid in managing your workforce and evaluating performance. It is straightforward to understand how to use it; I'm sure that after 2 to 3 weeks, most people won't have any trouble using it, but I don't want to sound biased since my knowledge only takes me so far into some of it the software capabilities. The user interface can be dull at times, but it's a minor, aesthetic issue, in my opinion.

- Customer Support is Horrible
- They over bill you for everything and ignore cancellation requests
- They don't listen to what you need or want, they slip in cancellation clauses and charge you for inactive employees throughout the year.
- They leave one person in charge of your account and should that person go on leave you are stuck waiting until that person gets back (including personal leaves that lasted 2 months)

The product is really good overall. The customer service is not the best and the benefits administration is kind of painful. However, the good outweighs the bad. We might get a different benefit admin system that can be integrated into Paycor. My controller doesn't want to switch anything for a [long] time.

The overall interface is similar to others, but the fact that half of the features are turned "off" and you have to know WHERE to go in the system to manually turn features "on" seems annoying (like just make all of the features that you sold me on available to me at the outset... why should I individually one-by-one have to identify features and then try to figure out where they might be and how I might turn them on?!?! Also, [I believe] their notification system is a joke. If a payroll fails to process, Paycor will NOT notify anyone in the company. You'll find out when the checks don't arrive (whereas every other payroll provider would alert you if any pay run failed to process by the anticipated date/time).

Generally, Ceridian Powerpay support is strong, with the edge given to the telephone staff, which is prompt and always helpful. When I have had to reach out via telephone, I am greeted quickly and provided with a quick resolution to my issue. The email support leaves a bit to be desired, though, as my experience with change requests result in long waits for confirmation and completion, with some instances not even being given a resolution to an issue without requiring additional follow-up. I shouldn’t have to stay on top of the support in addition to providing the details needed, and it should just get done.

I'd give a zero if that were an option. I currently have multiple requests for support that have not been answered in over a week. I have called their support phone line and usually hung up after waiting for 45 minutes for someone to answer. It is unlikely to get a quick response, EVER, even to urgent problems that effect taxes and benefit submission.

Implementation of any new software is going to be challenging, especially if you are maintaining an existing program concurrently. When it is time for dual-processing (both old and new software) prior to going live, be prepared to be stressed. But trust the process and it will be over soon.

When I started this business 4 years ago, I immediately defaulted to Paychex since I used them for over 20 years at my last company. It took a lot of effort to even get them to return my calls and emails. Then, when they reluctantly took my business on, they assigned me to a rep in Indianapolis - even though I'm in Nashville, Tennessee! That office wouldn't return my calls or emails for up to 2 weeks at a time. So I did some online research and discovered Paycor, and I'm very glad that I did. I have been very satisfied with the customer service I've received, and I've been very impressed with the respect and patience they have shown to me, even though I'm a very small business.

- The return on investment has been substantial for our company. Having a payroll system that calculates everything for you, processes important documents, and only takes minimal time and effort allows us to focus more time on running the business and generating revenue.
- Instead of having a user spend half a day (or potentially a full day) processing payroll, it only takes a couple hours (obviously depending on how many employees need to be processed).
