Likelihood to Recommend If you have a big event (over 300 people) that requires an app, has a substantial agenda and/or lots of sponsors - then Cvent Event Management is for you. I would never recommend it to a client that didn't have a ton of cash, as it's an expensive asset. If you have a complicated event in any way shape or form, it is a LIFE saver.

Greater Giving before switching to OneCause, I'd highly recommend OneCause for any event or fundraising management. The ability to see a company's support over multiple events is great for a snapshot or quick numbers for reporting. It's easier to navigate than most systems, and truly is a one-stop shop for your needs. I look forward to using OneCause for all our future events.
Read full review Pros Cvent Event Management's platform offers a great way to build out diverse event structures. Their platform is very customizable so it can work with almost any event structure there is. Their software integrates extremely well together. We use them for our event App and On-Site solutions and being able to have each piece be a one-stop facet is great. I don't have to edit different aspects in multiple different places since they systems all work cohesively. The customer support is fantastic. Between having our own set team assigned to us for questions as well as various methods to reach out to them through chat, open cases, phone calls and emails, you're always able to get ahold of someone. Whenever I have had an issue that the person I was speaking with didn't have the solution for, they always escalate it until they get the answer for me. The Exhibitor and Speaker Management tools really help reduce redundancy and keep track of all facets of the event. Especially when there are upwards of 50 of each it can be hard to track all of the elements needed from them. Cvent Event Management allows you to assign tasks to each exhibitor or speaker and can send reminders to those with incomplete tasks. They tend to add features by acquiring other platforms, but then don't always cleanly integrate them into Cvent itself, so they always seem sort of ratcheted on. The media and document library is pretty basic, so you need to take extra steps to link PDFs and other documents within the registration process if you choose to host the docs on Cvent. Read full review Auto-numbering items in auctions need to be editable. Right now, when you add items, they are numbered consecutively, and you can't edit them. I want all of my items to be numbered together by item type. We always have last-minute additions, but there is no ability to renumber. Read full review We are a very small non-profit and are actually looking to use another service just to cut costs, but we may not stay with them and will coming running back to OneCause if we can't make the other option work! The ONLY reason to move would be to reduce the over-head cost of the platform.
Read full review Usability Cvent has a lot of functionality, which can be overwhelming to new users who are not too technically savvy. However, Cvent does a great job of providing tools and support for users to learn and troubleshoot. I also appreciate the work and progress that Cvent has been making in Accessibility.
Read full review Use of the software is generally fine, but the setup and implementation are not always intuitive. Though the knowledgebase is robust and covers a lot of areas (and the support team is pleasant and knowledgeable), the event setup process (particularly when setting up payment and bank information) can be a bit cumbersome and should really be streamlined
Read full review Reliability and Availability Cvent does go down pretty frequently. And while it often doesn't impact day to day use usually, if it does go down at the wrong time, you may not be able to access very important event information when you need it. Usually outages do not last very long, but it could still be a very bad situation if this happens at the wrong moment

Whenever I have inquired how to use a feature or asked about how to do something, they give me the answer but also go above and beyond with additional info that I ended up also using.

Read full review Implementation Rating It would have been nice during implementation if we had received more pointers on how to organize our parked report folders, libraries, etc. to avoid the mess we find ourselves in today. If we had known ahead of time the limitations we could have planned better.
Read full review I don't know if my insights are key but I can say that implementation was done in-house without any outside support for the solution. The staff influencing the solution had very little technical expertise and ability as well which showed just how easily the software was to implement.
Read full review Alternatives Considered The top reason I prefer Cvent Event Management over NetForum is the customer support. Our Account Manager and Customer Support Staff are in constant communication with us. They anticipate our needs and help us find the solutions. If we don't feel confident in a product, they loop in a specialist to provide training.
Read full review We used Auction Star one time. It was not as user-friendly for our donors. Prior to that, we planned event logistics and auction components without any specialized software. Everything was done in Excel and Word. OneCause allowed us to organize tables, registration and auction packages a lot faster and more effectively.

Read full review Definitely saved us a fair amount of time in terms of individual ticket sales and managing guests on the back end. Did not save us that much time for sponsored tables as most of our guests did not purchase their sponsorships through the site. OneCause doesn't seem to have a function for entering a "Reserve Value" for auction items--i.e., while it allows for a minimum bid, it doesn't allow for having a minimum sale value, which meant that a few of our auction items sold for far lower than their value, which was unfortunate. Having the support package on the night of was critical for our organization, particularly as ALL of the full-time staff had very limited experience working with OneCause/Bidpal. Knowing that there were experts there to help liaise with the auctioneer and to troubleshoot with any guests experiencing issues was really essential. Read full review ScreenShots
