Were it not for the fact that IBM CPQ lacks mobile and tablet applications, I would have recommended it 100%. However, I still have that 99% recommendation rate since this solution has saved us a lot by allowing us to close more sales within a short period by creating a channel where we collaborate with customers by offering coupons, sending price lists and orders.

When a new lead arrives I can insert it in the right cadence, I can create a personal template with the various steps, attach documents. It can improve by giving the possibility of changing the email address of the prospect (it happens when the email is wrong) but it does not change it and the procedure is long

Pros
IBM
  • Firstly, IBM CPQ makes it easy for customers to make rapid products purchases through configuration, pricing and ordering processes.
  • Centralizing selling procedure in one platform by communicating products pricing to clients.
  • Improving ROI by attracting customers when discounts are introduced on products as well as offering coupons.

  • The use of cadences allows my team to quickly process calls that have been prequalified by our filters in Salesforce
  • The live call coaching with "drop in" capability has been useful for quality checking the calls, while allowing us to steer a call in a particular direction if necessary

Cons
IBM
  • Unfortunately, IBM CPQ does not have on-premises applications to use while not connected to the internet. This is no more a challenge since we have a robust WIFI connection in our organization premises.

  • Calendaring -- specifically ensuring credit is properly aligned when trying to calendar for sellers as a BDR -- even when using a booking/ calendar availability link (a seller's link -- this is the trouble spot from what I recall and why we can't use some of the helpful link scheduling tools in our org).
  • Would love to set up some report automation on the management side -- where specific things could be sent to me (e.g., I would love to set up a report that would auto-populate to show how many dials were completed during a power-hour/blitz period that would hit my alerts in the UI or be sent to email/Slack automatically).
  • A manager-specific view/home screen would be nice but not essential.

My rating is based on the fact that Salesloft is a great tool, it is very helpful for companies that have Sales Developers and work closely with marketing, as in my case. The tool is very intuitive, it gives you a way to schedule meetings, understand if the prospect or customer has read the email or downloaded the content sent.

SalesLoft is a fantastic product that will be extremely helpful to any Sales Rep looking to organize their information and stay one step ahead. While it has its shares of quirks and bugs it proves to be an awesome tool for anyone that is in the sales industry.

SalesLoft
The tool, which I have been using for years, has never given application problems, bugs or anything else, it has been a very stable and fast tool in its use. The team is always available if there is a need for training or if, by adding new sections, they give us the tools to understand it better

SalesLoft
The performance of the tool is always high and efficient, so the various integrations, after a first timid approach, were fast and never had integration problems such as: calls, emails, calendars, Zoom meetings, the dashboard, the generated pipeline and the opportunities opened in the various quarters and also the increases of the same

I have never contacted customer support, the tool has never given any bugs or other problems, so support has never been useful. We often do training dedicated to the best possible use of the tool but generally connected to the various updates and improvements of Salesloft but in general none of my colleagues have ever had any problems

SalesLoft
The training was done by the company we bought it from, I don't know if it was them directly or a reseller, but the training was very clear and simple in the explanation with the vision of the various steps and on how to insert the signature, how to import leads or contacts from Salesforces, the company CRM, how to send an email or how to make a call from the tool

I was not included in the implementation participation but daily use gave me the opportunity to understand many steps on my own, such as creating personal templates, which is very useful if the prospects or contacts are part of a specific vertical then it becomes important to create personalized templates for the end customer, with specific links.

Alternatives Considered
IBM
There are tons of Configure, Price and Quote software, but I have not used a lot of them. However, unlike IBM CPQ, HubSpot Sales Hub isn’t operated in compliance with any ISO standards and secured in a data center making it easy to leak customer sensitive data such as payment details.

We switched from InsideSales Playbooks to SalesLoft. Salesloft is much easier to use and more intuitive. We had previously used Inside SalesPlaybooks before they changed their name just so we had the powerdialer plug in in Salesforce then tried implementing PlayBooks and it was a bit cumbersome and not intuitive. We evaluated a few others but SalesLoft was the best choice!

Scalability
IBM

The overall scalability has maintained high performance and the workload even growing in the company, therefore without losing pieces or contacts with the end customer, without disconnections. It is reliable and fast at the same time giving priority and optimizing the work without waste. It has given the opportunity to add pieces to the system based on increasingly complex work needs
