DT is used by a single department for data imports and exports.
  • Merge picklist values for multi-select picklists.
  • Availability of restore file.
  • The UI is incredibly dated.
  • Customer support is not very helpful.
  • It is very difficult to scroll through long lists of fields to map. It would be great to be able to type in a letter and skip right to that section.
A web based tool would be more convenient. Downloading a desktop tool is inconvenient. Please make the tool available for Mac users. The Mac users on our team have to log into a remote server to use DT.

DemandTools is used by the Salesforce team primarily to look up contact or company IDs from an Excel file, to load new contacts from an Excel file, and to merge duplicate contacts or companies as identified by end-users.
  • Data lookup
  • Data loads
  • Duplicate merges
  • Simpler interface for selecting scenarios.
  • Giving users the option to force through contacts that are flagged as potential duplicates.
It is well-suited for one-off merges that have been identified by users. I find it less suited for mass merges based on specific criteria (i.e. same email address), at least for our organization because there is a high risk of false positives due to the quality of our data.

We use DemandTools to manage our Salesforce database (integrated with our registration platform) via scheduled account and contact dedupe scenarios and mass impact scenarios. It is specifically used by our CRM product team to help us offer a service to our customers who use the Salesforce community portal to access their customer data (i.e., we use the product as a B2B offering to allow our customers an enhanced B2C experience in data management and marketing). The Find Report IDs module is also used extensively to assist in our data management and loading activities.
  • Standard object data deduplication on a mass scale.
  • Finding data within the system to help with data management.
  • Mass custom object data deduplication. Enable batches to reduce API calls.
  • Add ability to select more than 1 non-master record when deduping from an external CSV.
  • Field rule settings: a bit hard to use and not as much functionality as I'd like.
  • Export abilities: Be able to schedule an export to a predefined location.
  • Cross-field matching for deduping (e.g. match email to secondary email fields).
  • Use conditions on dedupe: Can't choose an empty date when it's a date field.
Overall, the data management possibility with DemandTools is amazing. Developing and optimizing the dedupe scenarios and then running them on a schedule has allowed us to provide excellent services to our customers. Also pulling data from the system using predefined criteria is simple and a huge time-saver. I still prefer to use Data Loader when mass importing/updating data into Salesforce from a CSV as I find the user experience easier (from mapping to errors). It may just be a lack of time to learn within DemandTools though.

I am the primary user for DemandTools. My boss and another user are both familiar with DemandTools but I handle the majority of operations. I am also training an intern to use some of the modules. Our department is the only one that uses it. I typically use it for updating Salesforce with data from our partners, running dedupe checks, and pulling data from Salesforce to create reports and dashboards.
  • Update massive amounts of information in short amounts of time.
  • Match outside data with the data on Salesforce
  • Create detailed reports and dashboards with the data you pull
  • The scrolling on DemandTools is unbelievably sensitive. Almost useless
  • Address related matching is occasionally unreliable.
DemandTools is remarkably well suited for mass updates or creating new objects. DemandTools makes cleaning your Salesforce simple with pre-built formulas for updating addresses and names. Smaller updates (<20) could definitely be done by hand as DemandTools is a little slow for smaller projects.

DemandTools is used by multiple departments in our organization. It's used for batch data operations, data cleansing, and deduplication. When performing batch operations, results can be previewed before committing the update. When used in conjunction with JobBuilder, jobs can be automated. We have numerous automated jobs that run daily. In addition to improved accuracy, the automations save staff time and allow them to focus on higher-level work.
  • A really useful collection of ETL tools for Salesforce.
  • Ability to automate and schedule with Job Builder.
  • Ability to navigate to and reference related objects.
  • The training webinars, both live and recorded, are very helpful.
  • There is a learning curve required to navigate the user interface and learn the functionality.
  • I wish the vast collection of data transformation formulas available in Mass Impact was also available in Mass Effect.
  • I'd like a search box added to all the places in DemandTools where a field is selected.
It's a powerful set of ETL tools very well suited for administrators or power users. It works well with single sign on. It is much more flexible than the native Salesforce data loader tool. Some of the modules are less appropriate for non-technical users due to the learning curve of the interface and the power of the tool.

We use demand tools on a daily basis. We are duplicating our contact records based on set rigid or loose scenarios. Only the CRM department is using this tool. We find it to be very easy to use once you get to know how to use it. The UI can look a bit old school but it works well. It addresses the problem of duplication of records in our system.
  • It can run automatically over night.
  • It is much more feature packed then standard salesforce de-duping.
  • We enjoy the ability to grab large amounts of records with this tool.
  • The UI could be different, as it is older looking.
  • More tutorial videos for newer users.
Any scenario where you have multiple records from many objects where duplication is a problem. If marketing teams or other teams load mass amounts of unclean data. Demand tools can help with cleaning/merging this data. Where it's less appropriate is when you have lots of good data or if you have humans entering data.

DemandTools is used to manage duplication's on accounts & contacts, convert leads, update account & contact information. It's used to transfer data between team members if projects are handed over and to mass update iaccounts & Contacts info using Powergrid. I also use it to mass delete data. We have several SF orgs and I manage all the data in the events SF org.
  • Provides the ability to mass dedupe data.
  • Makes lead conversions easy & quick.
  • Allows for mass update or deletion of data.
  • It doesn't always do all the updates in one go - quite often have to run the merge a few times.
  • I don't have the ability to schedule jobs, that would be useful for lead conversions especially, this may just be my settings.
  • Would be good to have a search function when you have huge data lists.
  • The ability to increase text size would be good - especially whilst working directly from a laptop.
I spend most of my day in DemandTools, I couldn't do my job without it. I use it to mass update our Accounts & Contacts - being able to pull a list and then update in a spreadsheet and then import it back into SF real time is brilliant. Mass converting leads is so much easier than doing one by one in SF, you can set the parameters to look for duplicate emails or accounts, etc. Rather than converting all leads to new contacts and then merging duplicates.

Merging contacts - you can set various rules so start strict and then loosen the parameters each time.
Powergrid is very useful if you are looking for a specific set of data and can be updated on mass. I also use Powergrid to update prospect statuses on Mass as SF can manage only 200 at once.

We are using DemandTools for the following use cases:
  • De-duping and importing people lists from webinars and trade shows into Salesfore.
  • Mass de-duplication of leads, contacts, and accounts in Salesforce.
  • De-duping purchased list against existing accounts in Salesforce.
  • Real-time duplicate blocking and merging in Salesforce.
  • People import saves us an immense amount of time comparing and importing lists.
  • Dupe Blocker is intuitive to configure and has robust functionality.
  • Single table de-dupe has allowed us to reduce our duplicate records in Salesforce by a good amount.
  • There are certain pieces of functionality that simply don't work. Validity blamed it on our Salesforce org instead of figuring out how to fix the problem.
  • Took over 6 months to work through the above issue and support was extremely unresponsive.
Well suited for any de-duplicating or record importing needs. Not well suited if you expect the real-time converting and merging to work perfectly.

I am using DemandTools to support our Salesforce implementation in Financial Services. It is being used as a data-analysis/manipulation tool to support our lead generation and sales activities. As well as generating leads in Salesforce, we also receive data from several other sources, and we use DemandTools to manipulate that data accordingly. This resolved duplication issues, as well as aligning data between systems.
  • Deduplication: complex scenarios can be created across multiple dimensions to remove duplicate records and maintain a clean database. Powerful engine.
  • Find/Report Ids: very useful for bringing in external data and comparing it to records already present in Salesforce. Records can then be updated or inserted accordingly.
  • MassEffect: let's call this "Data Loader on steroids"— a very powerful tool for inserts/deletes/updates/upserts/exports.
  • Some might say the interface is dated, but for me, having everything on one page is much better than constantly having to go backward and forward. They are working on a new interface, which is in beta.
  • The auto-login experience could be slightly improved, especially if you want to switch between orgs you have to log in to the previous org, deselect the auto-login option, logout, and restart the application. A 'switcher' would be nice.
It is well suited to larger data sets and crucially can use Excel files as a source rather than CSV. This is important to me as converting Excel to CSV prior to imports can lose data formats; some of our data operations we couldn't do with DataLoader, for example, but are a breeze with DataLoader. Taking a file of data from another system and comparing it to Salesforce records is very slick. Most DemandTools modules come with multi-pass matching routines, which allow you to compare data, e.g. for de-duplication or import, and give you various levels of confidence that you have found a match.

As a Salesforce.com Partner for 10+ years and having done 80+ implementations, the dirty little secret no one talks about (be to relative to day-to-day operations, implementations, app adoption, re-implementation, any mass email or marketing platform adoptions) is data. Data is ugly. Data is hard. Data has no clean or easy answers. Data is constantly evolving. Data takes strategy, configuration controls, and commitment. No other tool (none!) allows the company using Salesforce.com to assess and address their data issues, which we all have, better. DemandTools features (Mass Impact, Mass Effect, Find ID, etc.) are unparalleled. DataLoader and native data tools do NOT do what really needs to be done to clean what you have and bring in new data from your webinar or mass email or trade shows, etc. in a clean and strategic manner. Salesforce will tell you to import it all as leads. Ha! Like users are going to do all the work to clean those records one at a time to convert properly. There are at least 10 issues with Lead Conversion that virtually guarantee you duplicate and lost data. Not bad data, LOST data. PeopleImport--while hard to initially set up--is critical to anyone in Marketing. While DemandTools is ridiculously expensive now you have to ask yourself if you will willingly and knowingly throw out your Salesforce licensing costs and marketing dollars because you did not budget for DemandTools (and a qualified person to use it). Find ID alone is worth it. Single table dedupe alone is worth it. I could assess anyone's data (and config for that matter) and blow 20 holes into why it's wrong and how DemandTools could fix it AND help maintain healthy data with JobBuilder, etc.
  • Ability to handle insanely complex scenarios.
  • Features no other tool has.
  • Repeatable, programmable scenarios.
  • Insanely expensive.
  • Very difficult to learn and use.
First, there are no less appropriate scenarios when DT should be used because it was built to handle it all. It's incredibly powerful and mindful of all the caveats data brings with it. If you use Salesforce and have a Sales and Marketing team (that actually use the CRM) then you need good data. Will DemandTools tell you if the data you have is accurate (not really, although it has address verification) it will do everything else. Everything!

DemandTools is used by our Salesforce Admins to maintain data quality and run regular data maintenance. It's an incredibly easy and powerful tool to help all admins with any data maintenance. We use it almost daily anytime we need to do mass data updating or to clean up our database with mass-deduping. When initially implementing Salesforce at our company, DemandTools allowed us to mass convert leads and the Find/Report ID's feature is a great feature that I haven't seen other data loaders have.
  • All the modules within DemandTools are so powerful and straightforward to use it's become an all-in-one powerhouse tool that has a solution for all my data maintenance needs.
  • Find/Report IDs is a unique feature that I haven't seen other data loaders use and makes searching for data much easier instead of wasting time writing out tons of v-lookups in Excel.
  • Mass Lead Conversion is an amazing tool for Salesforce implementations.
  • The flexibility of being able to use MassEffect, MassImpact, or PowerGrid depending on what data you're updating is great because you can pick the tool that will be the fastest for your current need.
  • The way the data is returned with the Find/Report IDs feature is a little messy. It adds a lot of extra columns to your sheet and the matches aren't very obvious at first glance.
  • When using tools like MassImpact or PowerGrid and you need to add in conditions to pull data, the interface is a little clunky. It's good if you have a regular dataset that you update because you can save the scenario, but for a one-off I tend to pull a report from Salesforce and edit in Excel because it's faster.
  • Would love to see the ability to use Cross Filters within modules like MassImpact and PowerGrid so that the data pulled can be a bit more dynamic rather than one object.
DemandTools was a must for our Salesforce implementation and great for regular data maintenance. It has gotten rather pricey since Validity bought them so for smaller companies it may not be necessary as there are other tools out there that do the same thing. But I do think that DemandTools is very easy to use and powerful so if you have a Salesforce org with a lot of data or one that requires a lot of maintenance, the time it saves makes the tool worth it.

It's used primarily for sales/marketing data but data quality affects the entire organization. DemandTools (Validity) has helped address data quality and data quality control measures at my company specifically clean up hundreds of thousands of duplicate records as well as allowing us to have a system to redirect and auto-merge incoming records. It also allows me to run jobs to reassign account/contact records when sales territories change.
  • Mass updating records
  • Deduplication of records/automation for de-duping
  • Database matching (Find ID/Reports)
  • User Interface
  • MAC OS Compatability
  • Native Salesforce Integration
DemandTools is great if you are constantly keeping your data quality to a high standard and pivotal in the initial cleanup of your DB to get to a point where it's manageable to have a data strategy. It's also great for mass manipulating records, updating Account Owners/Contact Owners, etc.

We regularly use DemandTools to make bulk data changes in Salesforce. Sometimes we need to find a number of records that meet criteria and make changes to them. For example, after an academic term commences we will find all of our admissions applications from that term that have not matriculated and we will mark them as closed (Mass Impact). Other times we will receive a list (CSV) from a department on campus who needs a value set and we will upload that list and enter the new values (Mass Effect). Other times we need to see how many people meet a certain condition so we will download those records (Power Grid). Or we may need to add Salesforce data to what we have in our SIS system so we use Power Grid to download those records along with their external ID and in Excel we join that up with SIS data.
  • Bulk data changes
  • Quickly query Salesforce for records
  • Fixing errors made by finding erroneous records
  • Finds fields related to records, not just fields on the key records themselves
  • The user interface looks very dated.
  • We really did not enjoy working with their sales reps when we signed our contract.
When you need to make bulk changes or find records meeting certain criteria, DemandTools is an extremely helpful tool. Also great for merging data from Salesforce with other systems provided you have a foreign key in your data (or external ID). If you need to save dynamic values for a variety of records it is not quite as useful as its formulas aren't all that comprehensive. When setting criteria for finding records you can use AND/OR logic but the OR logic is quite tedious to use.

DemandTools is used by most of the people in my department. We use it for bulk maintenance of our Salesforce org. My primary use for it is found/report IDs to generate matches for our Sales and Marketing teams, as well as MassEffect for re-assigning and modifying bulk records from our SalesOps divisions. Finally, we utilize MassImpact for our routine maintenance of records (assigning contacts to their account owner and things like that).
  • Modifying records in bulk far more efficient than DataLoader.
  • Providing a robust matching solution.
  • The UI for this software is archaic and provides many with a high barrier to entry.
  • Some of the filtering options that are present here are a little buggy.
If you're very comfortable with a UI from right out of the dot-com boom, then you're in luck! DemandTools are perfect for you! If not, you'll find that it's still a potent tool, even with it being an eyesore. Once you're comfortable with all of the modules, you'll find that it's hard to rival this program with how useful it is. For instance, a member of your sales department leaves, but they had 2000 Accounts. It's easy to use MassImpact to pull all accounts that were owned by this sales rep and then reassign them to another rep without using a spreadsheet!

We use DemandTools in our marketing departments to import, assign, and mass-manage leads, prospects, and clients in Salesforce.com. It's the easiest way that we have found to bulk update Salesforce in a controllable manner. Without it, we were unable to quickly assign new leads, follow up activities, or notifications for our sales team.
  • Upload new leads into Salesforce.com.
  • Assign new and existing leads to individuals or queues in Salesforce.
  • The look and feel can be challenging for new team members to figure out.
  • Multiple pages make usability tough sometimes.
Importing, tagging, and assigning new leads is excellent with People Import. You do need to be careful since you are bulk-uploading/updating records in Salesforce. If you mess something up, you are doing it on a mass scale. It's not suitable to clean up data, and it can be tough to make things up occasionally.

Our Business Systems and Sales Operations teams use DemandTools every day for various work. It solves mass data update requests that are much more cumbersome to do in DataLoader. This tool has much more functionality and essentially makes SF DataLoader useless.

  • Mass record inserts.
  • Mass record re-assignments.
  • Mass record deletes.
  • The performance of the interface could be better. The app frequently freezes for large data manipulations (100K+ records)

We use DemandTools for data stewardship tasks around master data management using the single table dedupe module. Essentially we use it as a replacement for Data Loader for its mass effect module. Most useful module is MassImpact which is like a targeted logic-based direct update. Really makes data stewardship and the mass update of anything in Salesforce incredibly easy to do. Used to make teams that manage data on Salesforce more accurate and efficient and reduce the errors happening in Excel.
  • Integrates well with Office--can update Excel files directly, save, and then re-update without even having to close. Makes it so you don't have to constantly worry about formatting getting messed up due to converting back and for to Excel.
  • Pulls down data very quickly. Seems to always restrict to only what's needed and then allow further filtering once pulled down.
  • Allows you to work entirely without having to use files in the case of Powergrid and Massimpact. By keeping all the logic and updates within the tool, you don't end up possibly grabbing the wrong file from your hard drive or running into formatting issues with CSV files.
  • The UI can be clunky at times--the options for changing window size, for instance, are notoriously finicky
  • As your Salesforce org grows, each operation takes longer and longer--loading an object and its fields, for instance, can lead to lots of "Not Responding" issues.
  • Conditional logic with OR statements is incredibly hard to build. Requires you to add things multiple times sometimes which is really frustrating. No easy concept of (1 and 2 AND (3 OR 4)). Have to do (1 And 2 and 3) OR (1 and 2 and 4), which can take FOREVER to do through the interface.
  • No ability to just plug in custom SOQL.
Well suited for data stewardship and mass data cleanup or update.

It is being used only by the global marketing department within a specific business unit. We use it to manage data in Salesforce and Marketo, performing a number of different functions such as data hygiene, data normalization, updates, deletes, etc. It addresses ongoing challenges with data hygiene and maintenance.
  • Data updates via Mass Effect
  • Single table deduplication
  • Multi-table deduplication via Lead Conversion
  • Exports with Find/Report IDs
  • UX/UI - I like the all-in-one screen with steps labeled approach, but it can get clunky at times.
  • Navigating to the right tool - there's not a lot of info on the nav bar about what each tool does. For the ones that aren't obvious, it would help to have a little info so that you don't have to go into Mass Effect and Mass Impact just to determine which one you need.
  • Information in the tool about the advanced options - I rarely know how to use that stuff or what will happen. For example, Mass Impact updates with a formula, etc.
It's great for ad hoc data updates, bulk data operations for hygiene, maintenance, etc. and lead deduplication or conversion. I don't think it's as well suited for automated tasks, though I don't have as much experience doing those.

We have a managed package with a lot of custom objects, in addition to a lot of internal business rules. DemandTools allows us to save scenarios to be run whenever we need to manipulate large amounts data for different departments and teams quickly and easily.
  • Mass-update large amounts of data without needing excel.
  • Save mapping scenarios, including adding constants for regular mass-imports
  • Easily identify and correct data exceptions with saved scenarios
  • Minimize human error with updating to exact values in Salesforce - eliminates the need to type data into Excel
  • Regular live webinars and training is easy to access and provided frequently for "refreshers" on how each module functions
  • User Interface is a bit outdated
  • Operators for relative date values do not line up with Salesforce 100% of the time
DemandTools is great if you find yourself running regular "data extracts" to manipulate in Excel and then re-import via Data Loader. It's also well suited for doing "clean-up". Running scenarios for single-table de-dupe makes pointing data merges at groups of data quick and easy. For those who simply can't do without Excel, using PowerGrid is great for those one-off records that need "special snowflake" attention without having to download and files.

DemandTools is used by the Salesforce team. While Salesforce has some fairly powerful 1st party tools, the advanced data transformation and ID reporting that we are able to pull using DemandTools makes it our primary tool of choice.
  • The 'Find/ Report' ID module is incredibly useful and proven a valuable function to have when receiving lists of data updates, but no ID provided.
  • Single Table deduplication is a relatively quick and easy tool to help manage duplicate data sets within your database.
  • Mass upsert or insert of data. I use DemandTools daily to do mass data upserts and clean up any inconsistent data. Since I can build out and save scenarios for specific tasks, this is quick and painless
  • The one area the tool could improve upon is UI. It can be difficult to navigate and find what you're looking for. They have made a recent improvement though and have added a search box for objects. This is a blessing for anyone with a largely customized SF org.
DemandTools is a go-to toolset for everything data manipulation related to Salesforce. Need to insert or upsert any size data set? DemandTools can do that and do so efficiently. Even errors are made easy to deal with, with success and failure files provided after each one. Single Table De-dupe is a godsend for organizations needing to clean up their database with very granular settings. The only scenario where DemandTools may not be the best tool is for new Admins, still acclimating to Salesforce.

Our company uses DemandTools daily for a variety of projects; it promotes efficient processes for our Finance, Operations, Sales and Customer Service departments. As the Salesforce Administrator for my company, I'm constantly using DemandTools for territory updates, data cleanup and a myriad assortment of things that come up during day-to-day business.
  • Reassigning territory ownership is a breeze with DemandTools; I can update the Account owner and it will follow through with Contacts, open Opportunities, and tasks, as well as custom object records. This is much more efficient than changing the records for each object at a time!
  • I love the PowerGrid utility - this allows me to focus on specific subsets of data records that may need updating. The ability to save a Scenario for future use has made my job easier.
  • Report Edit utility is amazing, I look forward to seeing how they can improve it the future, but being able to mass move and delete reports is brilliant!
  • The ability to see what fields are on a report, or being touch as a filter would be AMAZING.
  • It can sometimes be frustrating to remember where the log files are saved to review errors that may have happened. It would be nice to have a "Review Log Files" under the Demand Tools Today section.
Sales territory changes are much faster and efficient for our company when using DemandTools; updating the Account owner and having the additional related records for Contacts, open Tasks, and open Opportunities, certain custom object records flow to the new Owner is awesome. We also use DemandTools scenarios to solve some problems with updating custom object records daily in our Finance team; our third ERP vendor is difficult to work with so this was easier than paying them thousands of dollars to improve their system.

Demand Tools is used within my field operations and business systems teams. We use it to de-dupe, upload, and manage our Salesforce database. The problem it addresses is quickly modifying large sets of data, handling territory assignment, and de-duplicating our database. We use Demand Tools at least 3 to 4 times a week.
  • De-duplicating your database. While de-duping correctly requires manual effort, scenarios can be applied and modified to make de-duping easier.
  • Territory assignment / account changes. Shifting thousands of accounts in minutes and if you're an efficiency whiz, save the scenarios to be able to scrub/assign/refresh periodically. Keeps alerts and ownership clearly defined at all times.
  • Mass uploads. We outsource data to be refreshed on CSV files continually. Whether it's account information or contact information, Demand Tools makes importing the easy part of the process.
  • Contact Imports. Could be easier to not have to use People Import.
  • Scenarios in the cloud. Saving scenarios on a local machine isn't ideal.
  • Report and Dashboard cleansing. Think this is a Salesforce issue, but cleaning out reports and dashboards would be amazing.
Demand Tools is a must-have for Salesforce admins. I don't think this is applicable/not to size or stage of company. If you're making frequent changes, building/enhancing a database, or have data quality initiatives, Demand Tools is step 1.

The only downside would be a junior admin as it is an incredibly powerful tool. You can break a database in minutes.

We have routine tasks that were built around using Data Loader. I've tried to automate data feeds as much as possible but some remain. I use DemandTools to help support finance, customer, service, marketing, and sales. DemandTools helps fill the gap between manual and automated processes. We use a website to collect data tied back to a campaign and are able to use this tool to very quickly update a set of campaigns in real time. The single table dedupe is now part of routine maintenance run by our customer service department.
  • The simplest things can mean so much. Being able to upload data from an Excel file is very helpful.
  • The ability to use transformations and constants makes uploading records so much easier. Less clean-up and manipulation of files before upload means less likelihood of user error.
  • The ability to update data based on a set of business rules is invaluable. Updating dates using a formula (date + 30 days) is so much easier than exporting data to Excel, performing a date function, saving as CSV, and then uploading. And providing the functionality to save scenarios on top of it makes a very big difference.
  • The single table de-dupe is a great feature. I can customize the logic and use fuzzy matching to find dupes and clean them up.
  • I think everyone that uses DemandTools knows the UI is dated. I have trouble seeing checkboxes and buttons sometimes - I'm assuming due to the resolution of my computer. Also the navigation is counterintuitive (though not particularly difficult).
  • While I love the single table de-dupe, it is difficult to understand the work process to follow. There is a lot going on in this screen and there is a lot of saving that happens but it isn't clear if I am saving a custom ruleset or replacing the default. This piece could just be more intuitive.
  • I would LOVE the ability to write formulas or expressions in the "transform" feature!
Well Suited:
  • Updating multiple records in an object
  • Inserting records
  • Finding and merging duplicate contacts
  • Finding duplicate accounts - while merging is possible, our environment makes it difficult to auto-merge accounts
  • Updating records based on data based business rules (Update xdate to ydate+30 days where xdate is less then today and account status = current) No Excel needed!!!!
  • Well trained power-users
Not Suited for:
  • Casual, untrained users
  • Usage on a slow or spotty network (DemandTools is desktop-based and therefore requires a constant connection)
  • Querying/Extracting data from the database

DemandTools is being used by our salesforce department specifically. The business problems addressed are the needs to do quick mass updates to our salesforce database, and to maintain data quality.
  • Data management
  • Improving data quality
  • Deletion of records
  • Flexibility of rules when filtering/searching records in various tools (i.e. searching by formulas).
  • Being able to run a SECOND record filter after the records are put into buckets (for single table de-dupe). For some of the looser matching scenarios, this would allow me to be able to exclude GROUPS based on whether or not they had at least 1 record with a recent date. As of now, filtering out records with recent dates will just miss the duplicates.
Well suited: data updates, deletions
Less appropriate: cleansing data
