  • TIBCO always try to sell you the whole stack, so even if only you need BW they will sell you software you don’t need, and eventually you will end up paying too much
  • The Container Edition was a smart move, providing the ability to integrate in cloud environment and with Docker more specifically.
  • Very good performance and stability on millions of transactions daily

  • Scalable and adaptive.
  • Community is huge and vendor support is quick but sometimes needs pressing to provide an alternative to buying the next version of the product.
  • Covers almost all needs of organization and businesses.
  • Not explored compatibility with predictive tooling.

Will TIBCO survive ?

  • + Low cycle time due to RAD and ease of learning
  • + Resilient and Reliable
  • - License cost is an issue. TIBCO must retain existing customers and there seems to be something wrong with the positioning in recent years
  • It is missing the innovation to be a competitor in integration space. There is no clear strategy and roadmap.

  • Effective response time for processes the journeys.
  • Since it has all predefined functions, took less time to deliver the requirements.
  • When more jobs/threads are running hung threads are frequently created , so in some scenarios business is getting impacted while sorting of the issue.

  • TIBCO BW has only positive impact when it comes to ROI.
  • We observe that after implementing our application with BW, it is more stable.
  • TIBCO BW negative impact is that since the license is limited to number of CPUs, it's quite hard to understand for users.

  • Very Positive: e-commerce system (customer integration, online orders, etc.) has been incredibly improved. Now we have a real-time integration and the system is stable, robust.
  • Less people is needed in order to maintain/operate integration systems, we need less inversion in external expertise.
  • Time to market is very little, we implement new integration flows quite fast.

  • Ease of process design implies lesser investment on resources
  • Stability with AMX Service Grid was a huge issue to keep business continuity, most of the SRs remained unresolved and led to delays
  • New licencing model requires huge OPEX cost

  • Positive ROI - Stable TIBCO BW ensures less maintenance personnel required to maintain the TIBCO infrastructure
  • Positive ROI - Shorter learning curve for developers - the integrated help and examples provide self learning

  • In our environment 10 years ago it was a real win when BW was selected. Not without difficulties, but our department is alive mostly because of right choice of the tooling.
  • With years passed, we found out that we are "locked to the vendor." For newcomers I would recommend designing their environment in such a way that BW is not a whole platform, but one of the major parts of a platform.
  • With expected future migration to the newer version of BW6, we are facing a big number of challenges as environment is pretty different from BW5. Yet BW5 is not in plans to be discontinued as we were told, which is positive news to us.

  • TIBCO Businessworks is an expensive software. However set-up of this software with in a shared platform has driven adoption with-in the enterprise given the ease of development. This has had a positive impact on the turn around time for service development

  • Return on investment is great in scenarios where data is huge and data transfer should be fast and confidential.
  • Using multiple sub products with BW becomes a irritation and troublesome which will cause negative impact.
  • Stable product with stable data encryption methods causes a positive impact causing a sense positive impact.

  • Positive Impacts - Fewer lines of code needed to be written for the integration layer even though the number of our spoke systems are high. It saved development time & resources to connect to various systems. Also Tibco BW connectors are robust & reliable.

  • When the same technology stack is used, Tibco BW is generally good for new initiative. But for new add-ons, business finds it difficult to invest in technology.
  • At times business sees themselves as locked-in to vendor.

  • Costwise we had a negative impact as it is expensive to buy more TIBCO tools. So we look at alternatives for TIBCO products when we plan to implement new solutions other than ESB like for API gateways or for CEP. It also affects our current scalability,
  • On a positive note, we are able to achieve our goals easily on time. Thus save the company a lot of money.
