The business problems it addresses is we are able to minimize meetings and internal email. Workfront gives everyone high level visibility into their projects down to the smallest detail. It allows us to communicate within the project so that we have an audit trail on the project. On the comments tab, when you make a comment it would be nice to be able to bold text or highlight in a color. Prior to Workfront (AtTask), we went through five project management systems in seven years, including COTS and custom solutions. Workfront has helped us get a handle on the thousands of project we do, providing visibility and better consistency than we have had before.,Collaboration is excellent in Workfront. It largely replaces emails for work requests, and allows communication across projects, tasks and issues. Communication is very similar to how a social media tool would operate, making communication very user friendly. Reporting and dashboards are a strong feature in Workfront. We use it for management, individual, department and team specific dashboards and reporting. It is quick and easy to setup a report or dashboard, and we often can write them in minutes...even during the same meeting it is requested in.,The API is easy to use and powerful in Workfront. But there is no method to trigger an external process through the API (for example, complete a field or achievement of status triggers an external process). We use the "external page" feature in Workfront to achieve this functionality, which works well...but it would be nice to see it natively in the product.,8,Before Workfront, our department was in silos with each team doing their own thing and no visibility across the entire project lifecycle. Workfront has helped us link these teams together, allowing a unified WBS and visibility and reporting across the entire department.,1500,9,9AtTask Provides Excellent Views across ProjectsAtTask works hard to provide a usable, customizable, largely intuitive interface for both project managers and team members. AtTask seems committed to paying attention to customer feedback and requests for improvement and incorporates changes. Team members can update their own tasks, and executives, team members, anyone--can see status in a real time basis--IF your organization has the will to require this of team members. Reporting and the ability to view key data across projects is outstanding--reports are easy to create, as are custom forms. Built in resource grids are key to managing in a matrix organization--we rely on this for use weekly as timelines across projects change.,With the on-demand version of AtTask, if you delete tasks or other items--you are out of luck. The newest interface makes it a little too easy to delete items that you may not realize have been selected --as you scroll down a long list of tasks, for example. The data IS recoverable, but this comes with a fee. That being said, a recent phone call to support indicated that a solution to that--a trash can feature--is in the works for roll out soon. Team members--people who are not project managers--often neglect to update their tasks. Some get confused by the Working On/Work Requested tabs, and seem confused by tasks out of context. Some of this is probably due to training and executive will to require timely updates rather than request it. Still, more work on the psychology or interface that would make it dead simple to update would be great. The inline editing feature of AtTask, rolled out with the last major update, is very handy. However, sometimes it is slow and picking dates from the popup calendar can be slow and frustrating.,9,From my point of view, since our introduction of AtTask about 5 years ago, we have tripled our ability to juggle projects, without tripling our work staff. It allows us a previously invisible view on workload coming into department that were bottlenecks and allows us to reallocate and replan resources in a way we never could before. The number of "fires" we have to put out, and therefore overtime hours spent, have significantly decreased. Through reports over the past several years, management now has metrics on how we conduct a project and where we can improve our processes--places where perhaps we spend more time than planned each time we run a project.,2,9,9,8,4AtTask is out project one-stop-shopAtTask is currently used across our business, we use it to log project and tasks, small work requests and log time against those tasks and requests. This tracks project progress and billable hours. Convenient Integration: AtTask integrated easily with most of our business processes. Ubiquity: Our users can access AtTask 24/7 on supporting web browsers. Our previous project management product did not have this capability.,Too much information: AtTask elucidated certain details of projects without discretion. Particular Interface Issues: There are certain user interface aspects I dislike about the project-task list compared to the Legacy Gantt view. The project-task list allows the user to drag/drop the tasks around in a different order. If the user accidentally drags and drops a task into another (especially if one of the tasks has a predecessor) the project schedule is affected. Furthermore, the user cannot undo changes made in this manner after At-Task saves each change. The user must manually fix any changes made in this manner. User-access issues on older projects: AtTask continually updates its product with key features. In one of those updates, we had problems changing the team membership on our older projects.,8,Transparency: Everyone has the capability to see the salient aspects of active projects Performance: The performance from all teams increased. Most work is completed on-time and close to estimated hours/cost Ease-of-use: AtTask provides project details that conveniently assisted user adoption.,9,10Workfront (AtTask) ReviewOur internal creative team uses Workfront to manage our internal customer's projects. We set up custom intake forms and our clients fill in the intake form and we convert into projects and assign work schedules to our team and clients for tasks required to start and complete the projects. It is only used in our department, but we have external company users set up to assign tasks on projects. The system has multiple ways to report on any given element that is entered into the systems, so management has visibility into team projects. Every team member has an assigned user access which depends on job role to submit projects and our clients can view their own projects and clients can pull their own reports on projects.,Creation of forms - we created several intake forms on the type of projects we manage. Makes the information all in one place and eliminates client intake meetings for projects. Templates - creation of project templates - schedules/assignments of type of projects and creation of templates make open up a project due-able in a few minutes and you can schedule out projects using parameters set in the template for different project types. Reporting - it is easy to figure out what information necessary to build a report and easy to build with the tool. Electronic approvals - you can set up an auto route approval on tasks that ping key project stakeholders for electronic approvals.,Capacity planner / resource grid - not set in real time so the data is not accurate. The tool is difficult to use if you do not have an on-site consultant assist with the set-up or purchase on-phone consulting to help with system set-up. The tool is different on the various browsers - IE/Firefox/Safari/Chrome - each browser has issues to use the tool in. Optimal browser is Chrome, but not every company has Chrome access.,9,With the growing change in our projects, clients are trained to work in the system and know how to perform requests, approvals, give updates, therefore projects can be opened quicker and the teams know the objectives/assignments on projects. You can have a master plan with multiple projects within one project and with the scheduler, you can assign single line items to certain team members. You have visibility to see where a project is hung-up in the process and can adjust scheduling accordingly.,Basecamp,3,Vendor implemented Implemented in-house,9Try something else first.I like the web based aspect, that stores all of our data on their server so that users in our building cannot accidentally save it incorrectly like Microsoft Project. Their customer service is adequate when asking the right questions. If there is a solution they will get it to you quickly and effectively. The interface is pretty well designed and relatively intuitive. The ability to specifically decide which emails you wish to receive makes up for the vast number of emails you will receive when involved with a project.,AtTask should not be only focused on IT. We are a manufacturer and their new version clearly left us out of the loop. The New AtTask seems bent on making their software easier for non-technical users, but fails to maintain high level Project Management capability. Reporting can be accomplished now, by first time users, it really is quite straight forward. But reporting for PM's has become tasking to say the least. Old AtTask gave so much more control to the users that they could customize reports all the way down to the width of Columns, but that feature has been removed as well. Now I send out a weekly report, that shows several tasks with percent complete usually between 10-90%, but the column width is defaulted to a single character and the 5 and 0 end of on different rows. It is an embarrassment to me who provides these reports and an embarrassment to our company that cannot fix such a simple mistake. (And before you ask, Yes, I did try using the Text-Mode, which still didn't solve it, and reported the issue to Help Desk, which in turn escalated it, but there has still not been a resolution.) AtTask sometimes focuses too much on making a more appealing interface for users, and impossible for managers. When they switched to the New AtTask they abandoned the ability to customize reports exactly as desired and tried to make them easier for non-users to jump in and build reports. New AtTask removed the "Replan" feature from Old AtTask. "Replanning" is an essential element of project management. Why would they remove features? When projects fall behind or creep, an active PPM team will reschedule the project based on the current situation, usually based on PM's advisement. The Replan feature allows all "New", unstarted tasks to easily be rescheduled to have not started yet and now be On Time. This allows a PM to quickly and effectively reschedule projects that have changes during development. I can no longer choose which report elements are links and which are not. When I asked customer service to fix this, they sent me to a website of theirs, where suggestions can be made. Since Launch, less than a year ago, I have submitted about a dozen suggestions for bringing back features from Old AtTask, and none of them have been brought back. While customer service from their Help Desk is quite good, their timing is sometimes a pain. They outsourced to Armenia, and I usually submit an Issue Monday, they reply Monday night and I get back Tuesday, and they reply Tuesday Night, and we have clarified the Issue by Wednesday. Sometimes that means it takes almost 3 days to deal with an Issue that could have been 15 minutes if they were local. Other times it means it takes almost a week to elevate the Issue to someone who sees that the code is bad. I had major issues with their Java Scripts for their Gantt Charts. Constant updates make it a pain to work with even though it is one of the most effective tools. They have some turn over issues with Reps. I have been working with them for 3 years, and have dealt with more than 5 reps. The most recent has been a Customer Success Consultant, who when I called to complain of new issues, ranted at me for 30 minutes before finally letting me speak. He was unable to correct my issues, but told repeatedly said how bad he felt about that...,2,AtTask has helped us document our progress well. We have had situations where we have "he said she said" and AtTask has helped clear that up. It is pretty simple, and there are enough resources to read through to find almost all details. I would recommend this to others, because knowing AtTask, they would charge a fortune to train each person, and it would be almost completely useless. Let the people who can use more, use more, and the ones that are idiots and cannot, just tell them to ignore the hard parts. I give Workfront a TEN! When I have had an issue, the response time has been quick. The tech support team has always resolved any issues that I report. For the performance of the Workfront system you can go to trust Workfront to receive daily updates as to the status of the servers. When the system acts sluggish I check here to see if there are any performance issues. If there is an issue they let you know they are working on asap. I have been working in Workfront for 2 years and this has happened three times and has been resolved within 30 minutes, and the system has only went down one time and it was for only 25 minutes, once I reported to the tech team, they were already working on the issue to get it resolved. They are awesome, and hat's off to the whole Workfront team!

Maintenance is required, but usually after work hours, Some days the proofing tool function is not operational, but this is a new function of the tool that WF is working out. the kinks on. Chrome is the best browser to use the system in and we find Firefox and Explorer lose some view functionality - Gantt Chart, Resource Grid.

I would say the product is probably too available, and should instead be replaced by a WORKING product. There are many clients for AtTask that probably feel they would rather have a better working solution rather than this crap that doesn't do what it need to do. They should reinvent or rebrand.

About Workfront

Workfront is a web-based project-management tool developed by Workfront, formerly AtTask, based in Utah. It was designed for both IT and marketing teams, but can be implemented for any kind of project. Workfront offers all the features standard to project management platforms. Editing and updating issues from the project view is styled to work somewhat similarly to a social networking site, bringing team members together in one central location. From the project view screen, issues, documents, and other elements of the project are placed along a tab bar so that they may be addressed with one click directly from the hub.

The platform's Capacity Planner allows a manager to move resources to where they are needed, and has some automation features (e.g. the Set Best Fit option, which attempts to allocate resources optimally within given constraints). Agile project management is supported with features like Gantt charts, an easily viewable and manipulable backlog, and storyboarding. Team members can be managed with the aid of quantitative metrics that show where work would be best allocated.

A free trial is available, after which Workfront comes in four pricing options. The lowest tier is Collaboration for small groups, followed by Work which adds mobile accessibility and time sheets, then Plan which adds additional analytic, planning, and reporting features. Finally, Enterprise Plus offers the highest configurability as well as support and data security.
