Use Basecamp if you want a no-fuss, streamlined project management tool (and make sure to check out their take on Agile!)
Overall Satisfaction with Basecamp
Basecamp is used by a very small portion of our team. This project management tool is the application of choice for our mobile developer team who work remotely. It helps us communicate with them in a space that they are used to, thus streamlining how we manage tasks, bugs and projects with them.
- Very simple interface anyone can use
- Inexpensive if you have a huge team or want to use it for multiple clients
- An amazing founding company story and vision
- Can't do the advanced things you can in other project management tools
- Not the best at forecasting or measuring how many resources your teams have
- Not as strong if you use it for everything (e.g., file storage and messaging)
- Better communication with a remote development team
- Fixing bugs with the mobile applications
- Refreshed view on the Agile methodology we use everyday!
As mentioned before, we only use Basecamp for our remote developers so it's in fact chosen by them. I see Basecamp as a much simpler project management tool that's great for small companies. I did see they did a rebrand recently so I'm curious to see what's next for Basecamp and I may give it another go.
