Overall Satisfaction with Bill.com

Bill.com is used to handle all expenses and invoice payments for our organization. Previously we had used Bill.com for our full accounts payable process but as we have grown we have migrated the invoice entry and approvals to another application. Bill.com is utilized by our finance team for approving bill payment expenses for all of our invoices that are processed on a weekly basis. Bill.com has enabled us to efficiently process payments for all of our vendors and employees and the system integrates with our GL platform seamlessly.

  • Approvals are limited. We were unable to create custom approval flows based on the type of expense/department.
  • ROI - Bill.com has enabled us to maintain a small team and devote minimal resources to processing payments each week.
  • Time - Bill.com has never created any issues for us. It integrates seamlessly with our gl system and we've never had to reach out to their support team to address an issue.
Bill.com's strongest characteristic is that it integrates seamlessly with our GL system. Of the systems that I have used, Bill.com has required the least amount of mental energy ensuring that everything is being processed correctly and that all payments/transactions integrate correctly with our GL system. It has saved countless hours of both frustration and time working through canceling checks, reconciling bank statements, and researching system integration issues. I have yet to encounter a situation where something did not integrate correctly with our GL requiring us to reach out to support or burn energy researching which invoice didn't sync correctly when we complete our month-end close.

As noted previously, the approval workflows are much simpler than other systems I have used which limits Bill.com's ability to scale with an organization. Since implementing, we have largely migrated off of Bill.com as an invoice approval platform and instead use it primarily as a vehicle for initiating payments on all of our vendors. When used in this fashion, Bill.com is by far the easiest system to use.
On the rare occasions when we've reached out to support with questions, their responses are timely and fully answer the questions we have. The rating primarily reflects my satisfaction with how little I've had to contact support since implementing their system.

Bill.com is well suited for organizations that have a small finance team where the majority of approvals are managed by one individual. It is well suited for organizations that wish to limit the manual processing of payments and do not require a complex payment process for processing invoices. Bill.com has been one of the most reliable software systems that I have used and the integrations with our GL system (Intacct) have never been an issue. The payment processing is incredibly reliable as well and while we have largely migrated from Bill.com for invoice processing, we continue to utilize Bill.com's payment system as it continues to provide significant value to our organization.

Bill.com is less suited for organizations that have a more robust procurement process as approvals are limited to a few individuals based on dollar thresholds. Bill.com is most lacking in the ability to create customized approval workflows enabling different departments or users to approve invoices.
