Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

We used Mailchimp to deliver infrequent updates to members of our newsletter. Our mobile app would send out emails related to early access and beta test updates, as well as company-wide news related to the app. We only used Mailchimp about once and every 6 weeks to send an email, and to no more than 3,000 subscribers at a time.
  • Incredibly easy to use interface
  • Tons of tutorials and help resources
  • Easy integration with GDPR
  • The pricing structure is not ideal for infrequent newsletters with a large amount of subscribers
  • Pricing is confusing and challenging to understand
  • The editor is buggy, still, after years of using it
  • Because we send infrequent emails but are still charged monthly, Mailchimp had a negative ROI for us
Mailchimp is arguably a stronger solution when it comes to simple, straightforward email marketing. If, however, you have a more peculiar use case or need to implement your solution with a more fully-fledged API and almost certainly pay less money per month, sendgrid is likely a better solution for you. To reiterate, Mailchimp is probably perfect for 90% of small businesses. We were part of the 10% where it was less than ideal.
The product and interface are incredibly easy to use. The biggest downside is that the editor is incredibly buggy. It is frustrating to use and frequently results in errors or issues that seemingly have no cause.
We used Mailchimp for a very specific use case, so this question doesn’t really apply to our organization.
Mailchimp is a joy to work with (when the editor isn’t being buggy), and it’s incredibly easy to understand its reports. It’s easy to make GDPR-compliant lists and automatically handle unsubscription requests and list management.

Do you think Mailchimp delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Mailchimp's feature set?

Yes

Did Mailchimp live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Mailchimp go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Mailchimp again?

No

Mailchimp is a great solution if email marketing is a necessity for your business. If you are sending frequent, weekly (at least) newsletters, then Mailchimp is both a reliable and cost-effective tool. If you are like us, however, sending infrequent emails, the monthly pricing structure is prohibitively expensive and not ideal for our use case.
