Adobe Campaign

Adobe Campaign is well suited for enterprise-level marketing communications. It can manage and deploy large volumes of emails very efficiently. Workflows can allow multiple touches, staggered sends, and segmentation to occur all within one delivery if needed. Interactions and reporting can happen in real time or near real time if needed. When integrated with the rest of the Marketing Cloud, Campaign becomes even more powerful as platforms like Analytics and AEM can have functionality brought directly into Campaign for more effective content creation and reporting.

We have really enjoyed the personal level of customer service with CallidusCloud and the quick turn around on any concerns and issues. CallidusCloud works well as an integrated instance with Salesforce and also as a stand alone instance that can send to csv files. We have been able to build campaigns, track success of said campaigns and manage automation. The level of integration has been key to our success and to the ability to create professional, personalized templates that are true to our brand but allow us to innovate. We also are pleased with the way that we can add blocks of emails on during our busy times so that service is not interrupted.

Pros

  • The workflow interface is good. You have the ability to design campaigns on a very simple or very complex level depending on what you are trying to achieve.
  • The UI is getting better. Adobe is making Campaign easier to navigate and more like its other solutions across the Adobe Marketing Cloud.
  • When paired with other solutions in the Adobe Marketing Cloud such as Analytics and Target, marketers have access to additional tools that otherwise they would have to look elsewhere for.

  • LeadFormix allows me to manage a large number of mailing lists for the same mailing, avoiding duplicates across lists and letting me suppress lists of my choice.
  • LeadFormix has a straightforward, no-frills email program. This means I can develop my email templates and copy without the hassle of a complicated design platform
  • LeadFormix allows me to share created emails across my team. This is great for collaborated campaigns.

Cons

  • The reporting engine needs to be improved. It is difficult to build custom reporting.
  • Adobe Campaign is not meant to act as a CRM, so anyone looking to leverage this from Campaign might be disappointed.
  • It does require some technical knowledge to manage and operate on a daily basis.

  • Email deliverability. Our initial campaigns have had dismal opens compared to historical sends in other providers (MailChimp, Netsuite). Their solution: get our busy topline customers to wrestle with the IT department to whitelist domains. And forget it with leads. I don't believe we're landing in the inbox for many of our target leads. But the upside is you get fewer unsubscribes that way!
  • Slim on the set-up documentation. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the industry trend of pointing users to a forum to find answers. I want a kick-off package with a checklist and helpful documentation. LeadFormix is among the vendors who essentially encourage you to "google it" - although our account rep is responsive, but that approach (me emailing a question to the rep) is a reactive tactic. Poor guy! (I've had a lot of questions.)
  • Netsuite integration. They claimed Netsuite integration and stated that they themselves are users of Netsuite as their ERP. Now I'm no fan of Netsuite, but it's what we're married to. So far I have seen zero integration other than a custom visitor tab that appears on the customer record in Netsuite. Even if there is some check box not checked somewhere in our set-up, the fact remains that lists are still manually exported from Netsuite and imported into Leadformix. No integration there and, I was told, it's not their focus so no interest in improving it. (Heck even Pardot is giving up on Netsuite now that Salesforce bought them.)
  • No visibility across users. To see a sent email from a sales user or fellow Marketeer, I have to manually filter by that individual user. What I want is a global view across users.

We feel that Neolane really adds value to our organization and has allowed marketing to progress - storing databases more efficiently, sharing campaigns across the world, pushing leads directly into our CRM system. We are very invested in the tool since we took a good bit of time to customize it, so I anticipate we will renew our use.

Fortunately we insisted on a three-month contract. They realllllllllly wanted us to sign up on an annual basis, but THANK GOD we can move away from LeadFormix without having invested too much time in developing content and workflows that would not arrive in our leads' in-boxes.

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Alternatives Considered

MailChimp is more user-friendly, is a bit easier to use, and is a more affordable product in comparison to Adobe. However, with Adobe Campaign one can produce more professional looking products since it tends to be used by more advanced users. Also, the analytics on Adobe is more in-depth and gives more data than MailChimp.

  • We have only had positive ROI, our clients have enjoyed our campaigns and we have gotten excellent feedback from them

  • Visitor domain tracking and associated user actions (page visits, form fills, etc.) have given sales actionable intelligence in real time.
