RUN by ADP is perfect, in my opinion, for any size of company. Whether you have 5 employees or 500 employees. I feel that RUN by ADP will meet your needs and help make processing payroll as smooth as possible. Using RUN by ADP is a huge time saver for me. I love how easy it is to add new employees. I work at a company that is experiencing big growth and I am grateful for how easy it is to add new employees. I wish RUN by ADP was more transparent about the cutoff times to process payroll timely. It would be very nice to know what is the latest I could process payroll to have it be processed on time

Dayforce appears to be a product that was designed for retail, however, we have made it work for our environment in a law firm setting. It works well for time management to my knowledge, but our recruiting, performance management, and billing through accounting is still outside of Dayforce in other systems.

  • The cost is surprisingly better than other payroll processing platforms, especially considering what is included and the longstanding national reputation of ADP.
  • The simplicity, automation, and available templates and reports are incredibly helpful to our growing organization.

  • Continuous calculation for payroll, ensuring you, and the employee knows were they are at in the pay period, and can quickly identify discrepancies to be able to resolve them prior to payroll submission. This helps our admins not stress prior to payroll submission, and be able to deliver the most accurate paychecks for our employees keeping them happy.
  • Report writer! Get readouts of the information you need. Build your own report with the information you need. We use a variety of different reports to help us get the most accurate information from an HR, payroll, timekeeping perspective. We've found endless benefits to this function and use the information to push our company forward in the industry.
  • Excel to Dayforce. There are different ways to upload information straight into Dayforce, making it easy to get a new employee's information uploaded directly into Dayforce. This drastically cuts down on the labor time it took to get a new employee into the system helping our HR department get back to assisting our employees instead of being bogged down on data entry.

  • Communication during implementation could use improvement. A clear, written timeline of expectations would be useful.
  • Having a dedicated customer service rep or department, maybe even local, would be nice for those rare occasions that we need a little help.

  • One specific area of improvement would be with WFM (Time and Attendance) where we could get a snapshot of weekly/biweekly timecard totals without having to scroll through the detailed "Pay" totals.
  • Because our company pays different hourly amounts to employees for holiday pay based on their FT/PT status, we would like to see the hours appear in the time card totals without having to go to the "Pay" tab to confirm.
  • System Security settings should include the ability to grant access to hourly and/or salaried employees. This would eliminate the need for unneeded configuration to prohibit some manager level employees from seeing salaried associates.

We have never experienced a total/unplanned outages that effected our ability to process payroll. However, there are times when the application's speed is significantly effected - and processing a payroll may take up to twice as long as normal.

We haven't noticed any slow-down due to the integration of Dayforce WFM with our Ceridian HPL products (HRIS and Payroll). The new HTML view of the timesheets don't load as quickly as the old Silverlight view - however, we have gotten used to the change.

Support is an area that Dayforce could work on more. That being said, they did recently implement a new 'pod' system for handling support inquiries. This has resulted in better understanding of our unique configuration as well as quicker turn-around times.

There are so many ways you can program with software. Take the time to think about not only how you currently perform the tasks you do in other software or by paper and think through how you might improve upon your processes in the future and what things you may want to do differently in the future.

Alternatives Considered

Compared to Paycor, ADP's web portal is much easier to navigate and use which has made running payroll easier. While the overall features are similar, ADP has more options such as integrating an HR support feature and linking to a 401k that make it more flexible. I have also found that generating reports is much easier in ADP's site, especially since it auto generates some key reports as soon as payroll is run.

Overall, we are extremely happy with the Dayforce WFM module. Our biggest pain point is concerning the twice annual software upgrades - which is the only reason I haven't rated them as a '10'. Because every customer is configured differently, the upgrades can sometimes have adverse effects on our current configured policies/rules. And although they roll-out the upgraded version in a test environment several weeks before go-live, not all testing is accurate in that environment. Some issues do not present themselves until you are working with live punches.
