Incentivized helps us track usage in our software product to know how customers are interacting with it. We have several different departments and teams using it in our company. I love the ability to create walkthroughs for our customers. If they enter a certain part of the product it can pop-up a help guide for users to show them how to use that section of the product.
  • Walkthroughs
  • Product usage data
  • Funnel paths
  • I miss the classic designer
  • Integrations/API
We use to create lightboxes for certain product announcements. If we want a customer to take a survey we will use to create a lightbox and put the link to the survey in there. also has the ability to save segmented lists for us so we can survey smaller groups of our customers instead of bothering our entire customer base. This is nice if we only care about US-based customers or international customers.
  • Helped us understand product usage data
  • Helped improve our trial environment
I'm not 100% sure why we went with The organization has been using for over 4 years and it's so ingrained in our company that it would be really hard for us to move to another product. I have loved working with and don't want to move anytime soon.
They've been great anytime that we have needed help with something. They also have some really great help articles. We're able to figure most things out through their articles, but when we've had to call in they've been very helpful and we haven't had any problems. I'd highly recommend working with them. has helped us understand our product usage a lot more. It's been really valuable to see how customers use the product, what interests them, and how we can improve based on this data.

Pendo is being used for one of our newer products (where it was easier to work into the code), but not for our flagship product. It's used for analytics, occasional announcements, and invitations to participate in our NPS survey. We could/should be using it more.
  • I love that you can target specific tags and elements for analytics. It's pretty easy even if you don't understand HTML, and super easy if you do.
  • It's easy to set up specific filters and audience groups to slice and dice the data.
  • Pendo is very flexible... and sometimes that causes problems. For example, you can customize your guides and invitations with your own HTML, CSS, and JS, but the effects of doing this are not always obvious and sometimes break the experience without you being able to tell. I've had a support person even tell me that they recommend people NOT change the HTML or CSS for this reason... in which case the feature shouldn't be exposed to users.
  • It is harder to identify specific data about a user (role, permission level, etc.) than it ought to be. You can set up specific custom fields, but it's not easy and requires a bunch of coordination.
Good for walkthroughs, guides, and analytics. OK for very simple surveys. Inappropriate for surveys with more than one or two questions, or which require more robust survey functionality.
  • I'm not in the loop on ROI issues.
Pendo is much simpler than the competition:
  1. WalkMe seems to be very robust for guided walkthroughs, but the UI for both authors and visitors is clunky by comparison to Pendo.
  2. Google Analytics tracks anything and everything... but only if someone else has set it up properly. It's very difficult for someone without direct access to the code to start tracking anything, or to make sense of it once they do. Pendo is lightyears ahead in this regard.
Also Pendo has the very cool capability of allowing you to look backwards in time, and see analytics for the past--even if you hadn't yet set up the specific tags you want to track for that period in the past. (I believe you DO have to have Pendo already installed for that period, but you don't have to have specified everything in advance; you can do that later.)
  • Setting up analytics (tags)
  • Setting up filters and target audiences
  • Changing CSS, HTML, or JS can have unexpected results.
Generally very easy to pick it up and start using right away without a great deal of training.

Verified User is being used by our business to understand how our customers are using our product and how we can better design our software for the betterment of our customer experience. addresses the need to understand how our customers are interacting with our software and what areas may need improvement based on usage statistics.
  • Provides a clean interface with which to interact. This ensures all data is able to be found quickly and efficiently.
  • Provides accurate and up to date metrics on the data we are looking for.
  • Allows us to create guides and surveys to keep us closer with our customers and ensure we are offering the best product we can.
  • The current Dashboard is easy to use but is limited on the customization ability. I'd like to see the ability to customize your dashboard and move features where you want them instead of adding them and having them be set/stuck for you. is perfect if you're looking to gain a better understanding of not only your product but also find out how your customers are interacting with your product. It's perfect for small to large scale software businesses who are looking to obtain a better understanding of the analytics behind their product.
  • has allowed us to better grow our software by discovering areas of improvement while also bringing to light areas where we may have spent too much time on for little reward.
  • The feature tagging/searching through Pendo is a very smooth process. As long as the proper code is contained in the software, you can tag a feature/page in very little time.
  • The navigation UI, with the most recent update, is cleaner and easier to use so I can quickly get to the page I want.
  • Dashboards give you the most information at a glance. They're easy to set up as long as you know the information you're looking for. You can make them as detailed as you'd like or just have a dashboard focused on one thing.
  • The guide creation process is the only thing I've ever struggled with while using Pendo. It seems to involve too much technical know-how if you want to properly get your guide to be stylized and functioning properly.
Yes, but I don't use it
Overall, Pendo provides a smooth interface, especially with the most recent update, and I couldn't imagine using or learning any other platform so product focused. From the moment I log into Pendo, I know where I'm going and what I'm looking for and I'm able to find that, through the interface, in as little time as possible. This helps keep me focused on doing other tasks at work so I'm not overburdened with hunting things down in the system.

Pendo is used to understand user behaviors, flows through the application, and other attributes like browser and retention. It offers a highly visible way to understand if users are navigating the app as expected, and reaching the right pages and events in the process. Highly-visible account and page segmentation make it easy to really identify gaps and trends.
  • Account and page segmentation with color and tag grouping.
  • User behavior and attribute tracking.
  • NPS, user flow maps, and grouped page reports.
  • Easier site integration and setup.
  • Mobile experience.
  • Deeper support for single page apps.
Pendo is best for situations where you are trying to understand basic user progress through an app, see where pages shine or offer a block, or identify feature uptake. It seems to do particularly well with new or established startups with complex workflows or multiple personas. NPS and behavior tracking are a breeze.
  • Visibility into feature and page adoption.
  • See user dropoff and roadblocks.
  • Use metrics for account-based marketing.
Pendo is more visual and offers better native user tracking, without the need to be a data scientist or master the tool. It plugs into your existing software and lets you overlay surveys, NPS, click, page, or even flow tracking with any developer interaction. Like others, Pendo can be deployed with Segment to reduce installation complexity.

A highly-visual analytics tool (versus one more rooted in raw data)
We would implement more criteria around visual support and installation steps. Our criteria would need to include more support for how the product is actually installed and used, its applicability to single page applications, and its support for native workflows. While many of these were supported out of the box, it was important to know during the sales process.
  • Implemented in-house
Change management was minimal
This kind of tool can offer a painless, impactful way to channel information across an organization.
  • Mobile support
  • Installation through Segment
  • Tracking unique pages in a complex app
Use Segment to install and cut developers out of the work cycle!
We do not have utilization constant or high enough to suggest this kind of investment.
Support is fast, knowledgeable, and goes out of their way to find solutions. Our particular question had to do with Segment integration, and was resolved immediately.
Pendo's mobile support is emerging, and sales/support have kept us abreast of support every step of the way. The ongoing dialog has helped us plan our investment and next steps every time.
  • Tracking user progress through defined pages
  • Tracking URL visits/pages
  • User device and browser traits
  • Mobile
  • Comprehensive flow diagrams
  • Anything with complex workflows
Pendo is easy to use, but you still need to know what you're tracking. Until then, it will show a lot of information that you may not know how to leverage.
