Overall Satisfaction with Canto

Canto is being used as our digital management across our entire company as well as with partner organizations for all photography, videography, and documents used as sales training and resources. It provides us with a visual gallery that we can directly send to potential customers and serve us as an internal resource database for past designs throughout the entire sales process.
  • You can segment photos/files by specific folder/file name which helps when you want to see all examples of a certain type.
  • You can tag files with anything you want which helps with the global search bar.
  • I like the approved/pending/restricted label since it filters automatically.
  • Auto-tagging is impossible to use - it uses the same keywords as you used for the previous upload which is great when it's the exact same thing, but you have to manually delete whatever you don't want.
  • GeoView is also not user friendly. It doesn't prompt for a location upon uploading content.
  • We have not seen any direct ROI from Canto other than the fact our sales reps like to use it to reference past products.
I entered the company after Canto had already been implemented and it's become much too large to overhaul and switch platforms, so I do not have any feedback on Canto's competition other than there has to be a better product out there that's more user friendly. I've heard good things about others.

Do you think Canto delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Canto's feature set?

No

Did Canto live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Canto go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Canto again?

No

Canto is well suited for your needs if you have a fairly simple product/file system where everything has its place. Less so when you have a multi-pronged product where everything can fit into multiple categories. I also wish that the Geo feature worked better and was more accessible. We've needed to input locations into a custom Google map to see all locations across the map.

Canto Support

I emailed Canto Support several months ago about an issue my team was having and still have yet to hear back. Worse, I can barely remember what it was fully about now other than I know the issue will resurface and I'll need to reach out again to have it hopefully solved.

Using Canto

Canto is not overly user-friendly. I do not love the internal logic and internal organization system. It's also fairly expensive for limited users. It's a classic case of not doing enough research to determine where actual users go to find relevant information/system preferences internally. It is also fairly limited on number of portals available.
