Overall Satisfaction with Catchpoint
We use Catchpoint to monitor the performance and availability of web-based applications. We monitor applications owned by Fannie Mae as well as other applications used by Fannie Mae employees and customers. We monitor these applications from multiple points of presence (on-premises data center, on-premises office locations as well as public points of presence). We use the data captured by Catchpoint for operational processes and to power dashboards in other tools, such as Splunk.
- Catchpoint provides a very robust, easy-to-use analytics capability.
- Catchpoint provides a huge number of public nodes [that] can be leveraged for monitoring.
- Catchpoint captures a wealth of metrics, including the ability to define and capture your own custom metrics.
- The REST API has some gaps making some types of automation difficult or impossible.
- Catchpoint does not yet have an integration with any password vaults.
- Catchpoint does not have global change logging. Changelogs are only available on an object-by-object basis and there are a few gaps. The changelogs are not available through the REST API.
- We do not capture tangible/hard numbers, but I can say that I have been on many support calls where we were able to get to [the] root cause within 5 or 10 minutes with the data provided by Catchpoint.
We were able to migrate from our previous synthetic monitoring tool in just two months. This was much faster than I thought would be possible. Catchpoint really teamed up with us to make this happen. They created new monitors in Catchpoint to match the existing URLs we were monitoring and walked us through those monitors and results. They also provided [so] much training and hand-holding to both users and admins in how to use the product. We immediately started reaping [the] benefits of Catchpoint, most specifically due to the large number of public points of presence available that gave us [a] much more detailed understanding of the scope of issues.
- Micro Focus Business Process Monitor (formerly HP Business Process Monitor), AppNeta, Dynatrace and Keynote Systems (Discontinued)
Catchpoint is much easier to create/maintain monitors than in Business Process Monitors. Catchpoint is also easier to administer and report on monitors than Business Process monitors. We migrated from Keynote to Catchpoint because of the significant deficiencies in Keynote (many false alerts, very small number of points of presence available). Dynatrace stacked up pretty well against Catchpoint, however, Dynatrace only has points of presence in Cloud providers, yet performance is frequently different between points of presence in Cloud providers vs traditional data centers. AppNeta also stacked up pretty well against Catchpoint, but we did not move forward with AppNeta due to a few key features missing such as availability windows and alerting capabilities.
