Overall Satisfaction with Marketo
- It does what it is supposed to do (creating lead nurturing campaigns, set up targeted e-mail blasts, integrate with salesforce).
- There are no technical problems and it seems very easy to use.
- There are no areas that I know of that it doesn't do well in. My only complaint is that it is very expensive ($25K / year) for the types of activities that we are using it for.
We briefly looked at Eloqua but did not spend a lot of time doing competitive analysis.
Learnings & Advice
We have not used Marketo since the original review - we have found that we can automate our e-mail flows manually and have not seen the need to have a sophisticated marketing automation tool of the scale that Marketo offers. There are some new tools for SMB that we are thinking of implementing.
We do not use marketo anymore.
Make sure you understand the use cases well. Don't buy just because it sounds good. Have a dedicated person assigned to Marketo.
We have not interacted with the community.
Ensure that whatever tool you buy is meant for your size of company.

We negotiated around payment terms and trial period. Would definitely recommend that.
