Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We began the switch from ADP to Paylocity a year ago. After reviewing several different payroll softwares we went to Paylocity because we liked the ease of the system and were sold on the promise of support that responds to emails within an avg of 4 hours and within a minute of a phone call. Overall, myself as an admin and my employees, like the capabilities of Paylocity and use several of their modules (Payroll, Time and Labor, Benefits, Onboarding, Expenses, Community). However, the support is not what the sales rep made it out to be. I rarely ever get a response to my emails within 4 hours and our account manager often isn't able to answer my questions/resolve my issues in a timely fashion.
- Software is user friendly and gives employees power to update their information easily.
- Workflow approvals make compensation updates easy.
- The online document library is extremely convenient and a great way to digitize files.
- The expense module makes it easy for employees to submit expense and for admins to transfer the data to our business software.
- The benefits module is a great tool for insurance open enrollment and makes updating employee benefit deductions simpler.
- The knowledge and communication with support staff needs to improve. I had a ticket open for months regarding a critical issue that jumped between 4 different support staff members before it was finally resolved. They didn't seem to have the support users needed especially near year end.
- Time and Labor isn't designed to easily accommodate our pay cycle, which pays current and semi-monthly. Although the projection and reconciliation function works properly, the time off balances often appear incorrect for employees since we have to keep pay periods open after the payroll processing date.
- I wish there were more dynamic reports that could easily be manipulated to display information that isn't provided through standard reports.
- Since we've only used the software for a year, it's hard to say. We spent a lot of time and resources during implementation and after acclimating to the system. I could definitely see reduced administrative time being spent on HR/Payroll related tasks as administrators get more comfortable with the system.
- With the expense module we no longer have cut paper checks for reimbursement which has saved time and money.
The automation of employee changes has improved visibility across managers with the workflow capabilities. Although we haven't dug into the performance tools of Paylocity yet, the onboarding is certainly an improvement from our previous manual processes.
Our employees have utilized and loved the Impression function. It's easy to use via desktop or mobile app and great to see the good work of our peers!
We left ADP because of their horrific customer service. Although Paylocity's can certainly improve, I would say it's easier to communicate with their support staff than with ADP. The only thing I miss from ADP is our time off balances were never affected by the fact we pay current. During the decision-making process for our platform change, we ultimately chose Paylocity because they had a lot of module options that we were interested in using, we liked the interface and its useability, and we felt the cost was fair for what we'd be getting out of it.
