Overall Satisfaction with Zoom

Zoom is being used at our community college for video conferencing and distributed, video connected classes. We previously used products by Polycom and Lifesize that were slow, cumbersome, outdated, and non scalable...so Zoom has replaced those technologies and given us a broader range of capabilities for our video conferencing needs.
  • Creating meetings is easy.
  • Joining meetings is easy.
  • It just works, on everything.
  • Users don't even need accounts to connect with each other.
  • We had tried Skype but users outside our organization, users of free Skype, couldnt find us/connect with us. Zoom solved that.
  • More group policy administration templates/features/options. In particular, Zoom Rooms don't have any admx files...just a reg and old adm...would like to see that updated and expanded.
  • I'd like to see more hardware, out of the box solutions, particularly for larger, all hands meetings.
  • Not Zoom's fault because I think it's intuitive and easy to use, but my non-tech users don't seem to grasp the concept or understand the extended/advanced features of Zoom meetings beyond just video and audio Skype like functions...Zoom does a great job with how to and videos so not sure what is missing to bridge that gap between tech and end users...
  • Sharing YouTube videos via screen sharing isn't great...we don't recommend anyone do it anyway...but everyone seems to want to do it.
  • We have indeed improved the means for collaboration.
  • We however need to do a better job with our implementation...we have dedicated rooms set up but users are confused by what they need to book/schedule...the meeting or the room...we hope to implement Zoom Rooms to help combat this confusion.
  • As individuals in the support department we use it all the time to connect with each other around our multiple campuses and it has been very helpful.
When we first trialed Zoom we knew immediately that what we really needed was Zoom Rooms not Zoom meetings, fast forward 3 years of faking Zoom Rooms with custom Zoom meeting users and we are hoping to finally get to implement real ones soon.
We do not use Zoom Phone but we liked what we saw at Zoomtopia and it is now on the top 5 list for products to replace our current phone system.
I did not list all of the software we have tried here, but we have literally tried and used everything, nothing works as seamlessly and easily as Zoom.
I think Zoom can be used in just about any scenario that has a need for video and audio streamed to a remote location, however our end users don't always understand that while the software works just great, it can be difficult or costly to implement its use in large room scenarios where just hooking up a webcam like they do in their office will not suffice...users often blame Zoom for poor audio or video when in actuality it is the hardware we are using Zoom with that creates the limitations of Zoom.
