I use connectwise control to keep costs down for customers who purchase IT support from me. It prevents travel, which lowers the cost to my customers.
  • Remote control of users' computers very easy to establish.
  • Integrates with Freshdesk for ticket tracking.
  • Price is right!
  • If the price went down, that wouldn't hurt my feelings.
If you're south of Dallas, and your customer is in Frisco Texas, ConnectWise will save you 3 hours of your life. That simple.

We use ConnectWIse Control to provide remote support to customers that do not have our RMM agent on it (therefore are an hourly billable customer) and to connect to clients that possibly have an issue with the RMM agent and is not allowing us to remote into their machines. This tool is being used by all of our technical employees within the organization.
  • Simple Interface for the End User
  • Excellent Remote Control (No issues with UAC prompts)
  • Cloud Hosted
  • Portal customization is somewhat cumbersome
  • Occasional issue with agent PC utility (have to select alternative methods to connect)
Here are some scenarios that where we recommend ConnectWise Control:
  • Any organization looking for remote control capabilities
    • Remote Server Management
    • Remote Connectivity to Unattended Machines (HVAC, Access Control/Security, DVR, etc...)
    • Offering remote support to individuals outside of your organization
  • Less Appropriate:
    • Remote management of large amount of PCs
    • Remote support for large number of unattended machines

I use ConnectWise Control to support and maintain multiple users across several organizations. Systems from California to New York are easily accessible allowing me to provide superior client relationships. Its flexibility to be utilized from multiple systems, iOS, Mac and PC, have made it an invaluable part of my consulting company. In a nutshell I would not have a consulting firm without it. It is the single most important tool I have.
  • Easily allows me to connect to a user's system.
  • Works well even over a slow connection.
  • Once connected it maintains that connection well, even through reboots.
  • Sometimes remote connections are extremely slow unless I blank the screen. This only happens on a few systems.
If you need remote access to systems, you need ConnectWise Control.

I've got this set up as an MSP for several of my customers. I resell monthly subscriptions per seat to them at my own discretionary rate, and it's a great tool for 1 click access to any PC/server I need access to remotely for admin tasks and to remote assist end users.
  • One click direct instant remote access to workstations to assist and remote work on servers
  • Cloud based so no on prem hosted server required
  • MSI is easily deployable via GP
  • The mobile app is terrible if you exit the app without going through the steps to end the current session, expect to get a self-hosted bill. I had remote access to a workstation from my phone while out of town, driving on the highway on the way home I incurred nearly 3 gigs throughout half the day even though I had terminated the app configured android to restrict access from background data. This is a huge flaw in the mobile app that should be fixed immediately.
  • You charge way too much from what it was to what it is today. Used to be $500 for a self-hosted license with unlimited connections now they want 2k ?? Come on.
It's complicated to set up, if you have multiple users to sign into it to use it - it's hard to restrict access to certain business units/clients. Also by default, having it map and install the printers to the local host is a crap feature, and it doesn't auto remove them on session disconnect.. years later I'm still removing this when I see it.

The user interface is good, but I find it's now lagging to load up the workstation when I search for it creating a long awkward pause on the phone where I used to nearly instant reach my customers PC.

We use it to troubleshoot on occasion with our user base. They might call with a perceived technical issue that is hard to diagnose over the phone so we suggest starting a session so we can see if there is anything out of the ordinary. It is used by just myself usually but on occasion my boss also uses it.
  • We embed a link on our site that users can simply click on and the process of getting a user to connect to connectwise is usually pretty straight forward.
  • The connection is usually quite stable and it makes it easy to see what is happening on their screen.
  • Mouse and keyboard events work well that make interaction quite easy.
  • The main thing that I would recommend for improvement is when I try to connect to mobile device users. I haven't tried it in about 6 months or so but in the past I have found it very hard to interact with a mobile device namely keyboard and mouse events may or may not work and after taking an action it takes ages for the screen to refresh to see its effect.
  • Also, it can be difficult to get users to download the correct client for their tablet. I am not sure if this could be streamlined for all devices but if there was one client app that differentiated between different types of devices then that would make it easier for users. Our users tend to use Samsung tablets but this is not always the case.
  • I am hesitant in getting them to try to download it as I don't want to waste their time if it does not work as expected and I am not able to assist them.
It is great for connecting to Windows PCs and seems to work flawlessly. As per my previous feedback I think some work needs to be done with the mobile versions. We use it to debug within a user's browser as our product is a web application and sometimes we can't replicate what is happening on our own machines. Sometimes the issue is that the user is using an old browser that is not supported and as our user base is a bit technically challenged it can be easier for us to just see the machine itself rather than ask many questions they may or may not be able to answer.

I use this for remote control for a web hosting business on occasion when email isn't as productive as needed. The product and ability to brand is great. Haven't had any hang-ups so far.
  • Multi-platform support
  • For my personal/business needs, I've not encountered a gap yet.
It's been a few years but I shopped around for different options that met my business need and budget. This was the best at the time and I've been very happy with the results. I'm likely one of their outliers in the sense that I only use it for remote support and possibly only once every month or two.

We use ConnectWise Control to immediately access user computers to provide timely support.
  • It provides for a simple easy connection with the remote computer.
  • It has a number of tools that help with troubleshooting.
  • There isn't much that needs to be improved. Perhaps a simpler, more streamlined interface.

It's being used by IT department, to support all our employee inside the company or even in field, ConnectWise Control is a powerful tool, indispensable to provide fast and productive support our employees.
  • Simple interface with a lot of interesting tools, like the Toolbox, it permits you to centralize all your daily tools in a folder to just have a click when you need.
  • Doesn't require a large bandwidth to work good, it works very well even on bad internet links.
  • Easy management of supporters, it can even be managed by Active Directory.
  • It allows a wide range of customizations, adapting easily to various corporate environments.
  • If you use the cloud version, it can't recognize when you connect in an internal host, generating a unnecessary delay even if it's a small one.
  • ConnectWise does not have a data center in Brazil. That is where I am, even so the performance is very good, but I think, how would it be if we had a data center in Brazil?
If you have to support more than 30 hosts remotely, that's the best choice.

We use ConnectWise Control to remotely access all the computers within our broadcast studio operation here at our company. Our engineers use it to access computers both in the technical operations center as well as computers at remote transmitter sites. Frequently this saves staff from having to make long trips to troubleshoot problematic equipment. Programming staff use it to access computers in on-air studios to update daily programming and commercial logs or to control the radio stations while performing remote broadcasts. This also has saved us the occasional late night trip to the studio to correct an off-air situation because the program director can login remotely from home to get programming back on track.
  • High-quality remote desktop viewing. We have never run into any issues with the quality of the remote session. And it also establishes the connection fast.
  • Numerous options for access. It doesn't matter whether it's MAC or PC, tablet or iPad, iPhone or Android. They've got it covered.
  • They offer the ability to use Active Directory for authentication. Comes in very handy if your company already has a domain in place. Your users will appreciate one less username and password to deal with.
  • Self-hosted option! Nobody else appears to even offer this.
  • Grouping computers on the website is not intuitive. Same applies to assigning users to particular computers for access.
  • It would be nice to have the option on the mobile app for the mouse to stay center and the screen to move. LogMeIn offered this option, which is the only thing I miss from that platform.
  • It would also be nice to have the option of two-step authentication. Competitors are now offering that.
Because ConnectWise Control offers support, meeting, and remote access all on one platform, it is hard to imagine a scenario where this product cannot fit the bill. We have used all 3 components within our organization. Combined with attractive pricing, the soft-hosting option and active directory support, it was a no-brainer for us.

I use ConnectWise Control for computer repair and support for my clients, whom mostly consist of residential and small business computer users. It allows me to perform remote service to my client, often at a reduced rate, and also post-service support.
  • Ability to remotely access and control customer's computers
  • Allows me to work during off-hour time, particularly when the office/person I am supporting is not occupying their computer
  • The ease of launching a support session to gain remote access
  • Issues with User Access Control or users that are non-administrators
  • Occasional unresponsiveness or loss of connection to remote PC
  • Removal of giving a session a user friendly name or code, must be a numeric code assigned by the software

We use ConnectWise Control to remotely assist clients with technical support needs. It's used across the entire company. It saves us from traveling to the client to take care of what is often a quick fix which saves travel and time costs.
  • ConnectWise Control is relatively easy to help clients get connected so that you can remotely assist them with their computer.
  • It allows you to see the client's screen and control their computer to take care of technical support problems.
  • You can leave a remote session open in order to reconnect to the client later, such as after-hours to avoid interrupting their work.
  • Copy and paste between the host machine and remote machine does not work or is not available.
  • The keyboard/mouse control often stops functioning during a remote control session. This happens for both the remote user and the technician. The only way to clear it up is to disconnect the session and reconnect.
  • I would like to see a "full screen" option where I can make the remote screen go to the size of my screen. I often have to zoom in and out in order to read text or access buttons, icons or functions of the remote system.
ConnectWise Control is well suited for quick remote access to a client's system to fix an easy problem such as help them find an email, change a setting or even reboot the machine.

It is NOT a good solution for a long remote control session such as setting up or configuring a server or some other task that will take more than about 15 minutes. This is simply due to the problems mentioned previously where you lose control of the keyboard and mouse.

I use ConnectWise to access everything from servers to the end user PCs. I never seem to have a problem with connection speed or access. In addition, having the ability to break down the view of connections by company, office, or user makes it easy to find the computer I am looking for. Works great every time!
  • Connection speed is always good
  • Quick access to groups makes it easy to find the computer I need to work with
  • Support has always been helpful and quick to respond when I have needed them
  • Work out the bugs with theme colors. Some themes cause connections to break and not work at all.
A larger organization will be best suited to use something like Dameware for an active directory view of computers to access. I find ConnectWise best suited for small business remote access or a consultant to access multiple businesses.

ConnectWise Control is used by my organization to facilitate tech support from remote locations. It is used by the IT specialist (myself) to assist other employees across the organization. It addresses the business problem of having distance between employees/users and the IT specialist.
  • ConnectWise Control does an excellent job of providing remote access to any machine, and makes the connection process simple and quick.
  • ConnectWise Control offers a wide array of options to make the interface customizable and to reflect your organization's aesthetic.
  • ConnectWise Control makes updating machines with access installed very easy.
  • There are no suggestions for improvement at this time.

Our company provides outsourced tech support for other companies. Our entire service team uses ConnectWise Control. They use it to provide remote technical support to our clients. With it, we can email them a link or direct them to our website to start a remote session. It saves us a lot of time because we can solve more problems remotely.
  • Ad-hoc remote support. It is very easy to get an end-user to connect to a remote session, either through our website or by emailing them a link.
  • It is compatible with Windows or Mac, so we can support all of our clients' systems.
  • The client portal is beautiful and easy to use. Customers are impressed when they click through to the ConnectWise Control portal with our branding.
  • The admin area is confusing and sometimes convoluted. Making user security changes is tedious.
  • The app sometimes has trouble opening on client's computers. In this case they need to download the app a second time, then it works.
ConnectWise Control is great for providing remote support for tech support clients. When a customer calls us, it allows us to quickly and easily connect to their computer. We can use the arsenal of built-in tools for troubleshooting and even chat with the customer. It can also be used for internal tech support in the same way.

ConnectWise Control allows us to connect to and support our sales guys out in the field. It also allows for fast access to assist employees within the building as it's easy and fast to connect to other computers.
  • ConnectWise allows you to connect to users fast. It also has the ability to install the software to give you indefinite access to frequently used\familiar computer, thus making it even faster to connect because you don't need to give out any links or codes to establish the connection.
  • When installed on the computer, if a restart has to be done, it will automatically reconnect upon boot.
  • Easy file sharing between computers.
  • If the network is slow, it has the ability to change the quality of the session to help you get your job done.
  • Allows you to blank the guest screen, or just block their input allowing you to complete the task you need to do without interference.
  • If a previous verison of ConnectWise Control is installed it should be automatically uninstalled when a new copy is installed. We had a consulting firm prior to signing up with ConnectWise Control ourselves, however we didn't realize that they had been using the same software until we tried to install ConnectWise Control and have the old software try to override us. Once we installed the old software it worked great.
  • Would like to have a cheaper option to add a second tech to use ConnectWise Control simultaneously.
ConnectWise Control is well suited when you have many employees, or customers you need to help that are not at the same physical location as you are.

I am a systems administrator and our department has end users in multiple buildings. ConnectWise allows me to provide our end users with pc support remotely, very quickly from my desk. If I need help I can easily connect my session with other remote technicians in my organization. I also use their web interface to send commands remotely and get system information as needed.
  • Easily set up new meetings and support sessions that connect on the first try, even when end users aren't very technical
  • A strong focus on features to make a technician's job easier. For example: the toolbox, disable end user's input and blank their screen, remote code execution through web interface
  • If you come across an issue you want to review or share later, you can easily record the screen or save screenshots
  • Their app does an amazing job at providing full computer control from a smart phone.
  • In scenarios where the application has trouble connecting to the server, more troubleshooting information/logs would be helpful
  • Provide more feedback and attention to ideas in your user forums
Any scenario where remote access to a group of computers is needed, ConnectWise is a solid choice. But it gets even better if those users are external and you need to set up remote sessions on demand or even meetings among a group of end users. That's where ConnectWise Control really shines.

All our techs use this product to maintain and support various servers, workstations and one-off client IT assistance. We're able to keep our eye on critical systems and address any issues that pop up in real time.
  • I've only experienced the system being down for ~ half hour in the 2+ years we've used the product. It's been very reliable.
  • Our clients know that we can connect and troubleshoot systems even before they notice any issues
  • I have enjoyed working with their staff as well (tech and sales).
  • Setting up some features is difficult - One needs to be familiar and comfortable using non a non GUI interface
  • Tech support is not always willing to walk me through certain configurations - and point me to articles which may not be very helpful or are out of date.
  • Re: Licensing, I can't combine our 2 x ONE subscriptions with our ACCESS subscriptions in one interface.
It's well suited to remote control of multiple systems. It is not well suited to organizations that don't have in house expertise (or TIME) to use many of its features due to some of it's complexity.

ConnectWise Control (or formerly known as ScreenConnect) is used in our organization as a tool to remotely connect to residential customers on on-time session basis and with commercial customers on a regular access basis. The remote software is being used across our whole organization and addresses the problem of having to be at multiple places at once, when our repairs do not consist of hardware fixed, ConnectWise Control is our go to tool.
  • It is easy to deploy, use, and is reliable to connect when you need it most.
  • The cost is perfect for even the smallest providers.
  • The amount of customization with rebranding is just perfect.
  • Unlimited technicians would be nice at the standard level, but this is not an issue if you will not have other techs logged in at the same time.
  • Integration into more PSA's would be nice. We use it with RepairShopr currently but we would like to see an Atera integration as well.
  • Having a TechSuite integration would be nice too without having to add the executables into the tool box.
ConnectWise Control is suited well for any MSP, IT provider or computer repair shop. It has always provided us with 100% connection reliability and compatibility when being deployed onto workstations and servers. Their mobile app allows us to work from anywhere if we do not have access to a desktop.

We use ConnectWise Control across our franchise group as a means to remotely support our franchisees, operating shops across Texas and Louisiana. While Control primarily provides remote access for our IT department to render technical support, franchise shop general managers and accounting departments also receive support from our production and accounting specialists at the franchise company using the remote control software.
  • ConnectWise Control boasts an easy to use UI, so even members of my accounting department can use it to support remote locations, yet there are enough advanced tools that our IT department perform remote maintenance tasks using features like the toolbox, stored credentials, blank monitor/lock keyboard/wake lock/suspend input, screen capture, and file transfer. There if you need them, yet out of the way if you don't.
  • ConnectWise Control's featureset is robust and complete, yet the pricing is the most affordable we've found. It's typically quite difficult to get enterprise-grade software and features a price scaled for small business, but ConnectWise have made it happen. We couldn't be happier about the cost for such a complete product.
  • ConnectWise Control's robust theme capabilities allow us to present exactly the website and client software we want for our franchisees. With our name and branding, our franchisees feel more confident that the right people are in control of their computers, able at a moment's notice to give them the support they require.
  • The screenconnect mobile app is nothing more than a glorified web browser, providing a less than optimal experience on mobile, especially in those instances where you must render support from your phone. It is passable, but clunky, with the app retaining the split-column design from the desktop browser but without the real estate to make it effective. Features like touchID and password manager integration for logging in, and access to "mobile share" features to send files from the phone or other phone apps would go a long way to improving the mobile experience.
  • There are some features to turn a support session into a meeting, but these features are difficult to find and understand, and things like annotation are hit and miss in these situations. Not the most crucial feature, but there are times when a remote support session turns into a training session, and the flexibility to adhoc add additional users to the conference and have all the meetings features work properly would go a long way to closing the loop on the product's featureset.
  • Customization and configuration of the client and admin web interface, while fairly complete, is confusing and arduous. I wish they would take another stab at improving the setup for greater ease at customizing and making changes when required.
  • Managing automatic client screenshots through groups and other policy is still absent and is still one of the most desperately needed features. There are many situations where having a screenshot of a client before taking control is vital, but not having discrete control over when these are taken and for which clients is a privacy nightmare.
ConnectWise Control "formerly ScreenConnect" used to have an extremely reasonable self-hosted server pricing model, making it ultra friendly to small support shops and micro-businesses. With new pricing designed to encourage using the cloud-hosted service, it's very difficult to recommend to very small businesses like it used to be. The ongoing cost of cloud hosting vs self hosted buy-to-own pricing of yesteryear simply raises the financial ceiling for those who can use the product, and the added restrictions of concurrent connections recently added to the product further erodes its value. Even so, the pricing model is modest considering other product pricing in the remote support market, making ConnectWise Control still a comparative value if your use case fits within their narrowing parameters. It's a good product where active development is noticeable, as new features and optimizations are added at a regular clip. Given their competitors' extreme pride and absurd pricing for comparable solutions, it's hard to not like ConnectWise Control and give them credit for the admirable job they are doing to bring a reasonably priced and featured product within reach much needed for small business market. I haven't had the need to investigate how the product's pricing and performance scales into the enterprise, but it they maintain an edge in pricing over their competitors I would recommend them in the enterprise space as well. An overall well-rounded, and constantly improving, product for remote support.

Our organization uses ConnectWise Control for its remote management of nine computers and, occasionally, the remote desktop assistance for clients and independent contractors. Many of our organizational staff work non-traditional hours or work from home or on job sites, so it's essential for those individuals to have remote access to our computer systems at work. ConnectWise Control provides an easy to use solution for users to connect remotely to any device. At the same time, when clients need help on their computers, I can simply direct them to a vanity URL with our company name and follow easy to use steps to connect to one of our technicians.
  • Remote access and administration of company computers.
  • Remote support for clients.
  • Ease of use for both office staff and clients.
  • Mac software is a little lacking compared to Windows.
  • Their iOS app needs improvement, but they've been working on this with recent releases.
  • I'd like to see more security for access computers. Currently, if one of our employees has their account breached, an attacker could login to any computer whereas a service like LogMeIn requires the user to know the computer password even if they have access to the LogMeIn account.
ConnectWise is a great tool for remote administration of computers. Accounts can have a list of connected computers without needing to know IP addresses, which improves ease of use for computers on dynamic IP networks or when on the go. It's also a useful tool for remote support, with vanity web addresses that promote company branding.

ConnectWise Control is used by technical support staff to provide instant support to clients. It improves response times and eliminates time lost due to traveling from client to client.
  • Connection response is excellent. Even on slow connections, lag is minimal.
  • File transfer is easy and quick between host and client.
  • Interactive tools allow you to graphically show clients on their screens where they are doing something wrong.
  • The built-in VOIP solution allows you to communicate with clients without the need for costly telephone calls. Frees up telephone lines of both parties and allows for longer sessions that may involve client training.
  • Reporting allows us to track what each technician did, for whom and for how long.
  • I'm sure they'll come up with new features, but as for a support tool, it has everything we can think of.
We only use it as a support tool, and as such it is very good. It also has a meeting function, but we have never used it.

[It's] Used by our technicians. It provides remote access to servers and PCs. It allows us to function more efficiently and enable excellent service delivery to our clients. It is fast and is able to control a wide variety of operating systems. We thoroughly enjoy working with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, effective solution to remotely manage client infrastructure.
  • Seamless upgrades when updates are available for the product.
  • It is quite fast, and very responsive (we use the hosted version).
  • The ability to chat, use the whiteboard, incorporate audio, transfer files - these are all very nice features we use everyday.
  • The resource utilization on some older machines, or PCs with <2GB of RAM or a single core is quite high. There are usually multiple threads of the access client running, which consume at least 60MB of RAM.
I cannot think of any scenarios where it would not be a suitable product for remote access.

We use ConnectWise Control as a remote IT support tool between our different sites. We also use the application for screen sharing.
  • User friendly interface even for non tech savvy people.
  • Feature filled application that provides a lot of flexibility when it comes to helping users.
  • No cons here. For our needs, ConnectWise provides everything at an affordable price.
We use ConnectWise for 90% of our remote support needs. Though we sometimes need to use RDP because certain users forget to run the application after downloading it.

We use ConnectWise Control for customers or prospects who are not on a support agreement where we would normally drop in an agent which also gives us unattended remote access. I understand ConnectWise also offers unattended remote access. We use it as an introduction to our skills and abilities. It's well received by the prospects we do utilize this product with.
  • Instant remote access via a brief download on the end user's side (prospective customer)
  • It's fast and light weight.
  • Clear image.
  • File transfer is slow. Dropbox is very fast.
We use it for prospective customers who are not on our support agreement as a one-time access tool. A customer can authorize access and see the ConnectWise logo on the bottom of their screen. When that logo is not there we are no longer connected. Gives them a good sense of security and control.

I run a small IT company, and I manage over 160 computers using ConnectWise Control. It simplifies remote connections at a price point that is affordable for me. The simple sub-30 second install is simple to do. I link the file on my website for new workstations to use.
  • Quick connection
  • Easy install
  • Low cost of deployment
  • Better mobile client
  • Easier transition to permanent install.
When you manage many remote clients, it is the best.
