We use Slack as our primary tool for daily communication and internal 1v1 meetings with the huddle feature. We love how easy it is to collaborate as a team using Slack. It is very simple to set up and use for all ages and technological abilities. Being able to customize different channels is great too.

We have been using Slack for 5+ years and have found it to be perfect for our unique needs. We love how easy it is to collaborate in channels, react to messages, work together in the canvas area, and have team meetings using the huddle feature. I love Slack and will never use anything else in the future.

Slack in our company is our main collaboration point. We are a full remote company and we use Slack to chat, exange files, make quick call, all in the same place. One of the other great feature os Slack are the integrations, so you could integrate it with calendar, documents, and receive in real time any notification you might be interested in. Last but not less important we also use Slack with guest users to collaborate closely.

Slack is great for daily collaboration with colleagues and and to be integrated with several external products to receive notifications or make real integrations and start workflow without leaving it. Slack is not suitable If you need to customize the design of the worspace, eg adding webpage, files, or other things into it, and the free version is useless considering it's limitation

Slack is the software equivalent of a multi-tool. I've used it for many years, in many companies, and it has always been the backbone of any team collaboration. It enables team and cross-team communication, as well as integrations with other third party software which allows data to feed directly into your Slack channels, creating alerts, tasks or other useful notifications right at your fingertips

Extremely useful collaboration tool, well suited for every company which needs cross team communication. Slack also integrates through apps with almost every other major software, enabling it to send and receive data. This opens up many possibilities not just for collaboration, but also administration (e.g. - vacation tracking, etc.)

Slack helped both me and the other mentors at Lighthouse Labs collaborate with each other, ask for help from senior mentors, and follow-up with students after tricky mentoring sessions. The ability to tag specific senior mentors or call for second-level support in a specific channel was invaluable when trying to solve problems for students quickly and effectively. We could also broadcast solutions to common problems, keep track of lecture times and the progress of each student cohort, and contact specific members of Lighthouse Labs for questions about payroll or scheduling. As a one-stop all-purpose text communication platform, Slack can't be beat!
  • Quick and easy direct messaging to single people or groups of people
  • Rich text support for images, attachments, code snippets, or just emphasis
  • Channels are quick and easy to set up and customize
  • Sometimes it's easy to get overwhelmed by notifications if you don't customize your alerts
  • Free plan limits the number of messages available at any given time, meaning you can "lose" a conversation with someone after talking to others
  • iOS version of Slack doesn't support landscape orientation
It's great for keeping groups of people in touch and in sync, no matter the reason: a group of friends, a family, a small business, or a large business. My family even uses it to plan events, share funny pictures, or broadcast important family news. However, it's less appropriate for keeping contact between just two or three people, unless they're working on a complex project that could benefit from sectioning various conversations into specific channels.

Slack is an incredibly visually pleasing and fast/easy way to communicate to large groups, single individuals or smaller subgroups of people. I love the functionality of giphy's where you can clear express what you are trying to say, and the huddle functionality has gotten better over time. I've been using Slack for the last 6 years and I'm always sad if I change company's and the platform of communication changes from Slack to a different platform.
  • Visually pleasing
  • Extensive ability to communicate through giphy's, emoji's, formatting of information
  • up time is very consistent
  • I would love to see Slack adding in more quick commands
  • putting together training for how to use these quick commands
Slack is fun to use when you're trying to get quick answers, quick responses. Like with any other chat platform, if you have more complex ideas to try to explain, sometimes it is not as clear and desirable, but that just has to do with what you're trying to accomplish. For connection and team building, it is incredible.

Slack has revolutionized our team communication. The platform's simplicity makes chatting and collaboration a breeze. Sharing files and updates in real-time has supercharged our productivity. It’s like the hub for all things work-related. While occasional notification hiccups can be a minor annoyance, the benefits outweigh the glitches. The customizable channels keep everything organized, ensuring important discussions don’t get lost in the shuffle. Slack has become an integral part of our daily workflow, streamlining communication and fostering teamwork. In a nutshell, it’s a must-have tool for any team looking to enhance collaboration and efficiency in the digital workspace.
  • Slack is pretty awesome for team chats
  • Very easy to setup new workspaces and channels
  • Expensive plan
  • Message history get lost
  • Limited users in huddle
Picture this You've got a buzzing tech team racing against deadlines, and Slack's the superhero. Quick updates, problem-solving – it's all happening in real-time. Creative projects thrive too; marketers tossing ideas back and forth like pros. Remote work? Slack's your virtual water cooler, keeping the team vibe alive. But, hey, in a fancy client meeting or during serious talks, Slack might feel too laid-back. And for a tiny team where constant updates aren't a thing, it could be overkill – like using a jet for a grocery run. It's cool, but sometimes you just need a bike.

We use Slack for regular communications, broadcasting messages, building quick war rooms and several day-to-day operations. I use Slack to ensure that messages and action items do not get lost in broader conversations. Also, there are several communities which are outside the purview of the office but in the Product Space which are helpful professionally.
  • Channels for discussions
  • Ability to remind and schedule messages
  • Ability to deal with multiple communities
  • Huddle often has some or the other issue with respect to connectivity
  • Searching within threads can be nightmare. Message which are several weeks old are really hard to find.
  • The FTUX can be better. Hard to find keyboard shortcuts for frequently used functions.
Best suited for large teams where multiple work streams are to be discussed with different stakeholders. The app becomes 10x more useful once you integrate it with the rest of your production systems like Asana, Google Docs, Jira etc.

For smaller team sizes say less than 100, the level of complexity offered may not add enough value. Also, for folks who do not use extensions and plug-ins, there are several low-cost solutions.

Good for remote working

As we are working more remotely after the pandemic and left our big head office. We also have taken on 20% more freelancers so communication at the right quantity, timing and quantity essential. For example we have different channels - General, Social, Department teams and even a Football Banter group for different people. This saves having to send a whole bunch of unnecessarily emails to users and flood their inbox - especially for those coming back from annual leave or maternity leave.
  • Good for casual / social conversations
  • Reduce email inbox 'flooding'
  • Syncs well with Outlook calendar
  • Allow non paid premium users access to old messages
  • Allow easier re-connection if somebody deletes their app
Very useful for quick conversation rather than long detailed emails with attachments that often need to be looked at again in years to time especially for audit purpose.

I work remotely on Slack with a team of content editors for one of the internet's biggest RV travel website networks. We use Slack to communicate on-the-fly editorial planning, troubleshooting, calendaring, general management, and other related work that helps us publish the best quality RV travel and lifestyle content on the internet.
  • on-demand communication
  • works great with any browser or device
  • allows us to attach documents and link to websites without any issues
  • love the emojis it offers!
  • Wish it would have a library of Giphys or just a better way of finding them.
  • Calendaring would be nice
As a freelancer, I'm able to join my client's Slack community and enhance the work I do for the company with the ability to easily communicate ideas, requests, resolve urgent situations, plan for future needs and events and more. Slack helps our team achieve a cohesive feel across all time zones like nothing else has in the past.

Daily communication for a remote organization is maintained via Slack, we live and breathe by it and could not live without it. The only improvement I see Slack could offer is confirmation when a message has been viewed by someone. Although I understand that viewed does not always mean it's been read and received, so a confirmation or acknowledged feature might also be necessary along with that.
  • Moment by moment chatting
  • Groups
  • Emoticons
  • Acknowledments
  • Threads
  • When has someone seen a message
  • Has seeing a message mean it's been viewed? Not necessarily
It's well suited for daily communications among remote colleagues across the globe. It falls short where I do not know if a colleague has actually received or seen a message yet and there is no acknowledged functionality or 'viewed' indicator. This would be helpful, in my opinion, and something Microsoft Teams has as a feature.

We use it for internal communication, between the company and between the teams. Also to integrate with other systems to receive alerts and updates
  • Communicate things with people within the organisation
  • Create teams to discuss particular topics
  • Calls are integrated and allow to share screen for a better and quicker comm
  • Share and manage files attached to conversations
  • Sometimes the search using keywords doesn't work really well
  • During calls the sound may be not the best or sometimes it is lost which led you to have to close the app and reopen it again
  • It would be nice to have the option to add images in between of text
When I need to create a post with results or information Slack allow me to present it in a nice way. I can add images and videos to help understand the content of the post.
I like that you can create channels for specific topics and keep the conversations in different places to allow you coming back later to this specific channel and continue in there. This is also nice because you can go back to the different channels and look through them instead of looking through the whole account.

Slack is primarily used as a communication tool, either by DM with other coworkers, to group channels, or in conjunction with automation to third party programs. This is particularly useful for customer service/experience teams and touts Google Workspace integrations, Cloverleaf, Zapier, and customer platforms like Zendesk, Customer etc.
  • User administration
  • Team communication
  • Integrations
  • More readily accessible administrative options
  • Pricing
Slack has been very well suited for a range of companies that I've utilized services through. This ranged from startups with ~50 staff, to larger corporations with 400+ staff. It is easy to use from a corporate staff perspective, retail staff, and as an administrator for staff/teams. I think it might not make sense as a service for teams of 20 or less, though have not tried the use case myself (my decision would boil down to use-case and pricing). If a company has a range of services they're looking to integrate and Slack offers plugins, I would recommend exploring.

I use Slack multiple times per day, everyday in my daily work life. I use it to communicate internally with my teammates. I use both channels and direct messages to communicate with others. It is actually the main mode of digital communication at our company internally, even moreso than email.
  • User friendly
  • Visually appealing
  • quick and easy emoji reactions
  • able to upload your own emojis
  • easy to use
  • easy to add and invite others
  • I would like to be able to change themes or colours
  • I would like to be able to have 10 people in a DM as opposed to just 8
Best used for small or large organizations. I find it most successful in more modern or technology focused workforces. For example, I could not imagine an older and established oil company using Slack. It is great for having channels for people with specific interests or tasks. I also like that you can integrate other applications with Slack, including Zoom, Google Drive, and Slackbot.

Slack is our internal communication application. Where customer communication takes place via email, we communicate as a team internally through Slack. We use it to compartmentalize communications into different projects and place much needed information within those channels to provide our teams with what they need to succeed in their tasks (e.g. Canvas, workflows, etc.)
  • Canvas
  • Channels for different topics/projects
  • Notification customization
  • That Huddle ringing music...don't you change a thing
  • Integrations with other apps can be a little buggy
  • There is only a vertical list view of channels. Perhaps have the option of a "gallery" view for those who are more comfortable with that view. (iOS Finder has this feature)
I have found that Slack is best suited for an organization or group of connected individuals who want to share or collaborate on content or topics. It's been helpful for our internal company communication method and will most likely continue.

Where I think Slack would not do well is communications in the corporate business world where a main "parent" company is working with multiple vendors and contractors as well as their internal team on multiple projects (100+) throughout the year. There would have to be a person dedicated to permissions and access in order to manage it, which may not be the best use of time and resources. This is where email makes the most sense.

We use it for quick communication. Sometimes if an email does not make sense we use Slack. It is good for quick check ins and questions that do not require a whole lot of context or forwarded information. I like it best for questions and being able to update people on what i am working on and if there is anything i can do for them etc.
  • quick
  • user friendly
  • good settings
  • I would like to see a send button so it does not automatically send when hitting enter
  • I think it would be nice to store more messages
It is definitely suited for quick and easy communication. I would say less so for lengthy conversations or ones that require a lot of background info or context... that might be easier via an email chain... My favorite use of Slack is for questions or check ins/updates. Just quick messages. Otherwise it is easy to get lost since it is kinda like a text chain where the most recent is closest but it can be harder to find previous messages where in email that might be easier to record.

Slack is currently being used by our corporate office team members. It gives our team the ability to communicate quickly by sending instant messages to each other or to a specific group in a fast paced office environment where everyone is typically juggling multiple projects at any given moment.
  • Group Messaging.
  • Instant Messaging between two individuals.
  • Integrates well with our Host Analytics application.
Slack is well suited for a team that is managing multiple projects or tasks while working in different locations and needs to be able to quickly communicate via instant messaging.

We use as our main internal communication tool. Even though there are different tools that different sectors can communicate, the main microphone is Slack. There we ask questions that can be beneficial to one, many or all employees, from different teams, same team, group chats. We also use for online / social exchanges such as trip pictures and fun facts.
  • Connecting the whole company in different group chats, all at once and #hashtagging and @tagging
  • Saving, pin and organizing comments you would like to do so
  • Having one Unread folder to make your life easier
  • Having an interface to be used with external clients + a nicer filter to compete with other meeting apps
  • Always add new integrations such as we do have today with Lattice and Donut
  • Love the search field but I didn't find by myself that tool - could be more visible
I love the way works as a chat app, but as well a secretary for me, specially when other apps are linked into it. Very easy to find everything you saved, read, didn't read yet, pinned. Love how everyone can interact and can also be a tool to decrease the amount of emails we receive from internal chats as well as integrations with other platforms. I can't live without Slack!

Inter department communicating, collaborating, and all comms related to company related matters / issues
  • Huddles
  • Keeping record of messages / threads
  • Easy way to managing shared files
  • An "Offline" version when the app experiences an outage
  • A way to leave a channel without it notifying everyone
  • Recording huddles is not yet a function
Well suited: For communication across every / any function of a company and collaborating within teams and outside of immediate team also

Area of opportunity: Maybe having an "offline" version that is still functional without all features enabled during outages

In our company, we use Slack for our internal communication. Its integration with google drive is very useful for us since we primarily use GDrive in our company. It also help its users to track all deliverables through the help of Slack since most of the important discussions are in Slack.
  • Integration with different software and website such as Google, Zendesk, and ZIP.
  • Workflow in slack channels that make monitoring of requests from various users easy
  • User friendly features such as Canvasses, Later, and in-app calls.
  • Call scheduling that can be an alternative for google meet
  • Signing of document inside Slack
  • Notification for "react" or "reactions"
1. Integration with google calendar is very useful. Its notification is very efficient as we only use google calendar in the browser so a notification can be late. With this, we are very aware of the upcoming meetings.

2. Slack workflow and its integration with any google sheet solves the problem for monitoring of all requests within our company. It helps both the requestor and the PIC to maintain a tracker.

We use Slack for communicating with the team and cross-team collaborations. Before that, everything was communicated via email. With Slack it is definitely easier and smoother to reach out colleagues without spamming others. In addition, there are some plugins we can make use of, which is quite convenient sometimes. Such as, we decide which topics to cover for some department wise meetings using the voting tool built in Slack, which is efficient.
  • Many plugins to make use of, like voting tool, gif, auto messages
  • Creating channels is easy, then messages can be limited to the people who are interested in the topic
  • You can react to people's messages instead of replying, that is more efficient
  • I hope Slack only show the number of new messages I receive, not including the reactions on my messages
  • There can be a better way to organise the channels. When there are many channels, it becomes messy and difficult to follow
I like the plugins and gifs in Slack. It makes the conversations more fun. However, sometimes I also feel it is kind of difficult to follow the key points of the discussions with some gifs. I think Slack can improve that part, for example, limiting the display size of gifs. Meanwhile, I really feel struggling with many channels. It is difficult to navigate between channels if you have too many. Some of them are hidden because they are inactive. In addition, I hope Slack probably can have a more clean version without so many fancy features (just like Skype business).

We use Slack throughout our company to communicate between and within teams. It's used for both projects and regular day to day communication that would otherwise be done via email. Slack allows our employees to share documents and participate in group discussions, as well as communicate around specific events (managed through individual channels).
  • Instant communication with the ability to snooze notifications
  • Allows you to share documents and refer to them at a later time
  • Allows you to set your status so that you aren't constantly interrupted with messages if you are working closely on a project
  • Needs the ability to select specific gifs, the interface to send gifs is clunky
  • When additional channels are created, it's hard for participants to keep up on the channels that include info for them, basically requires that they are "at mentioned" or they get ignored
  • It would be nice to be able to hide channels you don't care about
Slack is a useful tool in instances where you need to get your entire company or team utilizing one method of communication outside of email. It's similar to other chat platforms but has a number of additional benefits like the ability for developers to share code back and forth. It might not be useful in instances where employees use it as a distraction.

Slack is our main way of communicating with our friends at work! Slack is very helpful in a way that you can use it on your mobile and can be anywhere without any hassle! I find it so necessary for a company to have this kind of software, especially when you're in a complicated situation and you don't know how to inform your boss. It's a one click help!
  • Communication
  • Nice graphics
  • Fun emojis
  • Search bar
  • More emojis
  • easy way to insert gifs
Last week, we had a bad power interruption that caused me to be late at work. At that moment I'm so very nervous because I'm really certain that my boss will be mad at me! But, I realized I have a Slack on my phone! I contacted my boss right away and report the incident without him being mad because I messaged him quickly via Slack.

Our company has employees who no longer live in the same state and often we work remotely. This allows to stay in real time communication all day as well as organize our conversations and sync with other products that we use.
  • Organize messages based on individual or specific topic
  • allows you to attach documents and images to a chat
  • tagging features that allows you to be notified when someone is chatting with you directly in a group setting
  • sometimes the notifications hiccup
  • the new update doesn't allow you have the side bar with a pinned message open
  • sometimes channels with new messages go to the top of the list and sometimes they do not
This is a great tool for remote working and staying in constant contact with your staff/co-workers. It's like still sitting in the same room without physically being together. You have the opportunity to chat as a group or chat privately with someone. You can create channels to chat about specific topics and organize how it suits you. The new Automation and Canvas features are a plus and gives more options. I honestly I am not sure how it could be less appropriate.. maybe if someone doesn't realize that depending how you setup a channel or conversation, that it may not be entirely private to the Admins.

My team and I use Slack for daily communication as well as within the company organization. I use the platform for 1:1 conversations and smaller groups as well as to stay in touch with the entire company. Emojis are a cute feature to engage my team and communicate feelings beyond words. My favorite feature is the "huddle" feature for quick, ad hoc syncs with my collaborators.
  • Ad hoc audio and video calls
  • Private and public group chats within the organization
  • Integrations with 3rd party products
  • Search results to be organized by date or relevance
  • Enhanced video conferencing
Love to use Slack for ad hoc huddle sessions with my co-workers. If we need to have a spontaneous call as a group or 1:1, Slack has a seamless experience compared to opening a third party product like zoom to send an individual link. When you are on Slack anyways for text communications, having video and audio at the tip of your fingers is very helpful.
