TIBCO BusinessWorks rocks!

Before we selected TIBCO BusinessWorks we created some sample scenarios and try to asses three solutions on the market. After two months of tests, meetings, and teleconferences we selected TIBCO for future use as it was the best solution for us and for our needs.

Have used Oracle, JBOSS products, however I would not like to comment as each product has its own pros and cons. Also note that cost is a major driver for the success of a product.

Tibco business works is a easy and relatively cost effective tool compared to products like Oracle and Microsoft. Although these products cost more, they also provide features which might not be suitable for medium to large customers. hence Tibco is selected based on its technical capabilities like MFT CC and BW .

During the RFP period (14 years ago), we pitted TIBCO against Oracle JCAPs (formerly eGate SeeBeyond), IBM WTX DataStage (formerly Mercator), Gentrans, and Microsoft Biztalk.

None was able to fulfill our requirements, except TIBCO, which completed the tasks specified in RFP in less than several days.

The decision to use TIBCO was made even before the I joined the agency. I think the primary reason is because TIBCO has a superior workflow management system (TIBCO IProcess) and BW came-up as the best candidate to support it.

BW is a good tool that allows flexibility and robustness, along with quick and non-specialized development (at least for 90% of the development work). The administration interface is well done, and provides a good quality of service. Monitoring is a plus that most of competitive products do not provide.

It has given me a good career growth. It's a robust and stable tool with numerous functionalities.

TIBCO has various product suites which can be leveraged by businesses for their different needs like MDM, event based processing, BPEL, Spotfire, and JASPERSOFT.

TIBCO is also focusing on a current trend which is cloud which is a good thing. Integration over cloud. Wow, it will be fun to work.

  • WebMethods

When I joined the organisation, it was already using Tibco so I had to use that. Mapping tools in Tibco were quite good. Some palettes were quite easy to configure.

In had little exposure to WebMethods.

  • MuleSoft
We have compared MuleSoft and TIBCO BusinessWorks and BW is much more mature than the MuleSoft product. It is proven and reliable so we have it with us. The only downside for TIBCO BusinessWorks is the cost.

Listed above are some middleware products, but it's not correct if we say how TIBCO BusinessWorks stacks up against them and why you selected TIBCO BusinessWorks. Rather, it should be other way around. They all are competing with TIBCO, they all know TIBCO is the most stable integration software in the market, so they all have to show why should the customers opt for them against the most reliable - TIBCO.

Another team within our company is undertaking several proof-of-concept projects with Del Boomi. With BusinessWorks our team was able to complete a particular POC in about 4 weeks which the Boomi team was unable to complete in 3 months.

I have used JCAPS as an integration tool. This was purely from a transformation and data mapping perspective. I prefer using TIBCO BusinessWorks because it is much simpler when it comes to mapping fields from one system to another. JCAPS require a lot of configuration in order to complete simple mappings and the graphical user interface is not very easy to understand. There is too many transitions all of the place and a new user will not be able to update particular implementations as easy as it can be achieved in BusinessWorks. Based on investigations and demo's on Oracle Fusion, the ease of use is not as simple as BusinessWorks either which is a massive disadvantage in today's competitive environment.
