Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now

Our organization uses ADP within the HR and payroll departments.
We use the WFM, including T&A, Onboarding (wizard), and Reporting.
  • Employee self-service. This is a great option to allow employees to make changes to their records and view pay detail.
  • Imports for mass changes. This option prevents needless manual data entry.
  • Reporting. The custom reporting team is great at helping us build what we need, within the system limitations of course.
  • The ability to edit features.
  • No FMLA look-back or tracking multiple cases.
  • The Time Off request menu does not always work/track properly. Sometimes requests get hung up in the system.
  • Having to call in to make changes due to the older mainframe structure.
  • Learning curve for new employees or managers - The system can seem "clunky" at times.
  • Sometimes there are very long waits for customer service calls, and sometimes incompetent answers.
We interviewed some competitors within the last 2 years. ADP falls behind in some key features, such as cloud-based performance and FMLA tracking.
  • Navigator
  • SAP Concur
  • NetSuite
1. Working
2. Beta testing
3. Uncertain
We were looking at these vendors as options to change from ADP. They are still on a mainframe structure, while most competitors are on a cloud-based system.

Do you think ADP Workforce Now delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with ADP Workforce Now's feature set?

No

Did ADP Workforce Now live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of ADP Workforce Now go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy ADP Workforce Now again?

Yes

Depends on which rep answers the phone to assist with the current issue. And there have been longer-than-usual and expected wait times.
It is a good payroll processing program. Its base is antiquated with a mainframe system, needing to update or handle items more than one time for permanent change. Not perfect, but functional.

COVID-19 Response

We did not generally have issues when COVID-19 happened in March 2020. But there were various emails we received letting us know that ADP offered assistance.
Most of our staff went remote. Our IT team provided kingdom class service to make the transition easy, though there was a lot of work required to make that happen. We are allowing staff on site per a phased approach. Unsure of the use of PPP loans.
We read through these materials. We also hired new HR staff during that time, so I am unsure how these resources were utilized.
A small population of employees accesses ADP from the mobile device.

Using ADP Workforce Now

100 - This is a guess. Trying to capture the supervisory population who has to review/approve time entries. The accessibility can range from Front-line supervisor to Dept Directors.
Technical, analytical, communication, resolution, competency skills are required
  • Timecard management
  • HRIS
  • Reporting
  • State agency records
  • Have attempted to created time off policies to help track FMLA lookback periods
  • Accounting journal entry import
  • Expense reimbursements
Unless we as an organization decides to pursue vendor research again, ADP will continue to be our main system of record.

Evaluating ADP Workforce Now and Competitors

  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
ADP was in place prior to my arrival. I am unsure what factors were considered as priority at the time WFN was selected.
Just researching and interviewing more vendors, with demos, and a keen eye on contract commitments.

ADP Workforce Now Implementation

Was not present.
  • Generally speaking, not enough time-both for implementation and training

ADP Workforce Now Training

  • in-person training
I was not yet at the Ministry when ADP was implemented. Though, we did have an on-site session to update some of the processes.

Configuring ADP Workforce Now

Unsure. Working through SAP Concur beta testing. May know more in the future.
Time, training, hands-on experience.
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code - To handle our special Flex credit to employees.

ADP Workforce Now Support

ProsCons
Problems get solved
Kept well informed
Poor followup
Difficult to get immediate help
Need to explain problems multiple times
Slow Initial Response
Don't believe so
Yes - Not really, and the same issue has occurred more than once.
Custom reporting. They are often able to create on-demand reports that meet the criteria we need for a specific need.

Using ADP Workforce Now

It holds its own as an HRIS/Payroll system. There are still areas that are clunky and old, that if updated would be more functional.
ProsCons
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Quick to learn
Convenient
Feel confident using
Familiar
Inconsistent
  • Viewing and approving timecards
  • Payroll dashboard has a clean look
  • Import feature is simple
  • Time off request cancelations
  • FMLA tracking
  • Creating reports with the correct fields

ADP Workforce Now Reliability

For the most part, ADP is reliable, but sometimes inconsistent.
In general, yes. And it could depend on the day, and also VPN access since many employee are still working remotely.

Integrating ADP Workforce Now

Still in the process of integrating with SAP Concur, so not enough info yet.
  • SAP Concur
Yes. We're currently in beta testing.
  • File import/export
  • API (e.g. SOAP or REST)
  • AppExchange or similar marketplace
I believe these are the ones we use, not completely sure of #3
Plan ahead. Be sure you allow for a sufficient time window. And training.

Upgrading ADP Workforce Now

Yes - Generally yes. And sometimes, yes, the upgrades can/have caused issues in functionality, which we don't know until we stumble upon them.
