EchoSign has been extremely easy to work with. Once a primary account has been created with a company, it is very easy to create sub accounts that can be used per team. This is essential for our company, which has teams that deal with unique documents that require absolute privacy between the administrator and our customer. The EchoSign website is easy to maneuver and provides great tutorials and how-to guides. So long as the signature requirement for the particular document allows for an electronic signature as opposed to a wet signature, EchoSign is an efficient tool to utilize

DocuSign

DocuSign is incredibly helpful when signatures are required from clientele in different cities and states. I struggle to think of scenarios where it may not be appropriate as it is also confidential. I've had zero issues using it with my company and our customers.

Pros

  • Very easy to use. It has a simplistic interface which means the learn time is straightforward.
  • Easy for a user to set-up and for the signer to sign.
  • Takes most any document type.
  • Integration was straightforward. We have integrated with Salesforce.com and BigMachines.

  • DocuSign is incredibly efficient to use; the step-by-step process to electronically initial and sign documents could not be more simple.
  • The ability to send one document to multiple people for signing and/or viewing helps streamline the process for contract approval.
  • The ability to amend DocuSigns midstream and/or void when necessary is hassle-free.
  • The instant notifications provided via the DocuSign app when contracts have been approved is very helpful.

Cons

  • The auto-field detection is not perfect, and it sometimes takes longer to fix the guesses made by the system versus doing it manually from scratch.
  • If I make an error when preparing a document for signature and want to go back, it's quite difficult in the current interface.
  • It would be handy to have a final confirmation screen that lists the name of the parties to whom a document is being sent for signature, the name of the document, and the order of signing. This would help me be 100% sure that I am sending the right document to the right people. (We all make mistakes!)

  • I would like to see a text application where a DocuSign could be sent via text message.
  • Working with customers that do not trust anything online, I would like to see ways where DocuSign can be not as scary. This is not a problem with DocuSign, just a suggestion to work with all customers equally.
  • I would like an option where I can remove functions that I never use and customize the drag and drop options. The clutter of unnecessary options is distracting when I help new sales people starting to use DocuSign.

Echosign is great. The reason I'm giving it a 9 instead of a 10 is because of the few glitches I previously mentioned I encounter when using it.

I am no longer with the company, but when I was there, I renewed the contract a few times and I had no reason to discontinue it.

Some of the pdf editing features (adding signature lines) can be a little tricky to learn

The products is well built and it is easy to understand the high level features. However, when I created my 1st form with the product, the learning curve was pretty steep. It required quite a bit of trial and error. For instance, our form required a credit card number. We didn't want this data to be visible, but the workflow included an email confirmation with a PDF attached. It took me a while to figure out how to make sure that the credit card number was not sent in this confirmation email. It actually required me to call their customer service line.

I would have rated this a 9 or greater had they not had had such critical outages. They have taken steps to resolve this so I may come in and revise this

I haven't had to ask for support more then a handful of times and each time I do interact with the support team I have felt important. They get back to me quickly and I am able to get them answers/help I was seeking

I'd give them a 10, but there has been 1 or 2 small cases that seemed to fall to the wayside, but I was able to call them up and get them resolved. We were having a bad implementation night (after midnight) and we needed assistance from Docusign. They were able to get an engineer to help us in the early morning hours

Online Training

The best types of training are well integrated into the product and Echosign does this well. As mentioned earlier in my review - there are some areas of functionality that can be difficult to understand ("only I sign") for the novice user.Other areas such as macro usage, bulk signature and so on were easily learned and understood via the online tools.

Make sure you set aside enough time to get properly trained on the system. We needed to act quickly on our initial use of this product and I did not have the time to go through all the proper training so it was basically go in and learn. I think it would have been much easier had I been given the time by the company to learn everything first.

Until you get the hang of it, I recommend doing several internal tests before sending a document to a client. As I mentioned earlier, you have to go through a bit of trial and error at first to verify that the workflow works as expected.

Alternatives Considered

The price is much more managable for eSign, we can find all of the old things we sent out, we can see the history of a document; so if a client says they never saw the proposal it is easy for anyone here to go in and either confirm or deny the claims of a client ans we also have the ability to prove to them someone on their email account saw the email.

Looked at PandaDoc about 18 months ago because of the interesting functionality around tracking redlines in contracts. This is something we are interested in, but PandaDoc was not PCI compliant (we capture billing info on our DocuSign forms). At that time they were pursuing it, I don't know where it stands. Their red line tracking/communication features were interesting and are not something that DocuSign offers.

Return on Investment

  • Shorter time to document signing
  • Faster and more efficient document management

  • Customer support is the only negative ROI. I've had some great experiences and an instance where I've been told to find my solution. The support could be more available and ready to answer questions to DocuSign with Salesforce.
  • Our company handles an enormous amount of contracts per quarter through DocuSign and has proven itself a positive ROI.
