I think Dynatrace will involve the infrastructure monitoring with the APM. The Application Performance Monitoring, with a native way to verify the database, servers and middleware will bring more effective root cause analyses to our team. Today, we need to bring more tools to complete the troubleshooting.

Most monitoring tools are about infrastructure monitoring and keep stuck at the levels levels of monitoring. They collect logs and you have to create your own view of the correlation. They really miss out on business impact and organic insight in your current configuration. Just collecting everything is not enough anymore.

We used different monitoring tools like Alersite, CA Wily, Splunk. Each of the tools is specialized in different areas of monitoring. None of them provides integrated monitoring that Dynatrace provided. This was the main driving force to select Dynatrace for our to be monitoring tool.

Dynatrace can monitor infrastructure, applications and digital user experience. It is adding better dashboarding and log analysis which is great for batch job monitoring. The synthetics capability is also great. Support is good. Licensing can be a little confusing and may take a few rounds to get it straightened out and understood.

The setup and configuration of Dynatrace was a lot easier than New Relic. The ease of downloading the one agent configured for your environment and installing it on your hosts was very easy. The interface gives you a lot of information, and you can deep dive into details to find root causes of your issues.

Dynatrace is easier to deploy and use out of the box. The level of customization and potential is above grade. Davis is a great feature and proves to have a very high ceiling in regards to all the things that it will be able to do moving forward. I'm excited to see what the future holds.

We wanted to consolidate all the monitoring tools into one. This makes it easy to manage the health of IT. It also helps in correlating what happened where and to identify the root cause of an incident. We are looking to see how Dynatrace will solve this problem for us.

- Easier to keep up-to-date.
- Easier and quicker deployment.
- Better coverage.
- Real end-to-end monitoring.
- No silo monitoring.
- Less flexible than OMi and SCOM for running custom scripts.

Splunk is more expensive than Dynatrace. Dynatrace met all the requirements that we were looking for in the APM monitoring tool. It has excellent premium customer support.

Datadog is a little harder to use from an end user standpoint but is probably a little more flexible from a script/automation perspective; it has more granular permissions but default access is not ideal for our usage. Sensu doesn't do application performance monitoring. Dynatrace is simply a more complete package.

Dynatrace's AI and problem identification works so much better than anything we've seen in other products. The management of licensing is better in Dynatrace in terms of capping specific environments. Administrating Dynatrace has gotten easier over time.
