- OpenVue - I like the OpenVue option so that I can put the link in postings to help speed up the interview process.
- On Demand - this has helped us so that candidates can do the interviews at their convenience and we do not have to set up a time to do an interview. In some cases, we are able to take days off the interview process.
- Duplicate a Hirevue position - there are many times that we do a launch and want to keep the location separated in HireVue. It would be nice to be able to duplicate a position and change the name.
- Search options - maybe I need to learn better, but it doesn't seem that there is a good way to filter through and find people that were not hired. I do know that part of the issue is the data we put into it.
HireVue - Simple and Easy to Use!
- Good way to quickly screen and assess candidates when utilizing one way videos.
- I also like the two way video feature for more in-depth videos.
- I have used the two way video feature and recorded the interview so other parties could view them later to aid in the decision making process.
- I don't think this is a HireVue issue per se but a lot of our managers are on the road constantly and you need quite a strong WiFi signal for the video feature to work properly.
- We need to be able to articulate the clear advantages of using something like HireVue over FaceTime or Skype which a lot of our clients are used to using and see and easy and free.
Disruptive, convenient, fun and effective!
- Partnership- HireVue employees are very proactive at keeping in touch with our company to reveal new products, review how well we are using any current products, where we could improve in product use and return on investment. From a relationship standpoint - they are experts in their business, have done a great job establishing trust with our company and are always extremely responsive to needs.
- HireVue does a great job of understanding business issues/needs, and helping generate ideas or creative ways to solve those needs with use of their products.
- I would love to see more fact sheets and case studies on newer products when available.
- In speaking with other companies who have considered video interviewing platforms, a challenge across the board is how to integrate into the recruitment process without it being an extra step for both recruiters and candidates.
HireVue may be less appropriate when it becomes an extra step in the process.

HireVue is used by human resources, both on the graduate/apprentice side as well as the experienced hire side.
I personally use it for graduate/apprentice recruitment, in replacement of telephone interviews. It helps us deal with volumes of candidates, share candidates and get others' opinions and easily rank the top scorers.
- Creates an average score across the interview.
- Different types of question responses (written, video, multiple choice, etc).
- Being able to review lots of candidates in one day and the interviews are already recorded.
- Candidates can take the interviews at a time that is most convenient to them.
- Different ways of scoring to be bespoke per organisation (not just 1-5).
Great!
- Keeps the questions consistent.
- Helps me assess the technical capability of a candidate.
- The candidate can take the assessment at their leisure.
- The UI is a little confusing at times.
- When you log into HireVue to review a candidate, you are unable to assign an evaluator at that time.
- Candidates sometimes tell me that they don't have access to a webcam or don't want to be videotaped.

Outstanding Recruitment tool best for your hiring needs
- Can be taken at home or anywhere where there is internet.
- For people who are not confident talking to an actual person face to face, HireVue still works and is equally interactive as an actual interviewer.
- Easy to use with step by step instructions.
- It does not assess of course, the body language of the person, and how he/she answers.
Solid experience
- Easily allows us to customize our interview instructions, notes, preferences, etc.
- Creates a fairly easy to use mobile interface for interviewing. Without video interviewing, our interview process would be slow and cumbersome.
- Nice features set up for review purposes, such as auto-advance (to the next question) and the option to show a 'roll' of all videos that need to be reviewed.
- HireVue is integrated with our custom ATS system, so there may be some integration issues there, but overall, there are too many steps needed to 'pass' an interview after reviewing it. Would love to see a single click accept which triggers the next steps in the process.
- Many candidates are confused by the practice time period vs. the actual recording period and we end up with 'blank' recordings. Either clearer instructions are needed, removing the practice option for every question, or a more obvious way to show the candidate what is being recorded and what is not.
- Perhaps another integration issue, but we don't always see the results of the video interviews right after they are recorded. We've had to go back into the HireVue website to retrieve 'lost' videos at a candidates request (which we never would have found on our own).
HireVue is well suited:
- If you want to include a video option during your interview process, especially if you get LOTS of applicants and want to narrow it down, this is a great product. We have a high drop off rate of people who never complete the interview, but since our role involves a certain amount of tech-savviness, we appreciate this benchmark. Keep in mind you may need to offer another interview channel if you ask for a video interview.
- If you have standard questions you want to ask all of your applicants.
- If you want to assess verbal communication skill as part of your job requirement.
HireVue is great!
- HireVue is very reliable, I rarely have tech issues with the website.
- HireVue's customer service team is great, the few times I or one of my candidates has had an issue, the team is very responsive and works very hard to solve the problem.
- It's extremely innovative - I have had multiple candidates tell me how new and different this type of interview is and how much they enjoy it.
- Using the HireVue software can be an little impersonal to a candidate, only because there is not someone physically interviewing them.
- HireVue could do a better job of preparing the candidate for the interview. The other websites that I have seen are really great, but when I actually took the HireVue I ended up being nervous and somewhat intimidated.
HireVue helps bring applicants alive!
We also use HireVue Live for screening administration positions such as principals, directors and assistant superintendents. We screen candidate applications, which includes their HireVue Basic video, and select a group of candidates who we would like to invite to a first interview. The first interview is administered through HireVue Live. The interviews are then viewed by the Superintendent and hiring team. Three finalists are selected to come in for in-person interviews.
- The quality of the HireVue Basic interviews is excellent. It provides a wonderful way for hiring supervisors to get to know candidates above their paper application.
- HireVue Live allows ALL candidates to participate in a face to face interview. No matter where candidates live, they all can join a real time interview and do not have to travel unless selected as a finalist.
- Hiring teams can watch the interviews anywhere and at any time!
- We get a lot of feedback from candidates that the HireVue Basic interview is awkward, because they are looking at themselves on the computer screen. They wish they had a different picture to look at while answering questions!
- I had a very difficult time with HireVue Live this year. The quality of the connection and the audio/visual recording were often very bad. There were many times we couldn't use the video to screen candidates because you couldn't understand what they were saying, the video would be fuzzy or the recording was blank. This is the reason why I gave an overall rating of 8.
HireVue is a must for any company! Truly worth it

- How comfortable they are trying this new platform
- Sometimes makes candidates very nervous and mess up causing them not to be selected by manager
- Candidates sometimes don't follow through with completing interview because it is a new platform for them, causing them not to be in pipeline
- Buffering often occurs on either candidate or our end, making it frustrating to get through the interview
Probably less appropriate for full time exectutive roles.
A glimpse at one-way interviewing
- HireVue gives the option of uploading company videos. These videos can teach candidates about the company and excite them.
- HireVue's rating system allows for people to take notes, rate each question, and ultimately give a yes, no, maybe recommendation.
- That you can base new interviews off of previous positions or templates, but also edit individual aspects of each interview. This makes it quick and easy to set up new interviews.
- i don't like that only administrators can see notes on candidates. There should be an option for anyone a HireVue is shared with to view notes.
- I don't like that HireVues expire after one year. It would be helpful to have them available for longer than that so when someone applies multiple times for a position we have a refresher as to why we didn't hire them in the first place.
- I think more practice for end users could be valuable. A lot of candidates report feeling uncomfortable with the software. They would probably feel better if they had more practice.
DVI Loves HireVue
- We are able to screen applicants before a formal interview.
- We are able to interview candidates from all over, which gives a bigger pool of applicants to choose from.
- Sometimes it is difficult to hear applicants, and there is lag in the video conferences.
To HireVue or not to HireVue?
- HireVue is excellent for remote recruitment projects.
- It provides a level playing field - everyone gets the same questions without any interviewer bias.
- HireVue allows us to give more candidates the opportunity to sell themselves than we would be able to provide if we met with everyone face to face immediately.
- The lack of queues or immediate feedback is challenging for some candidates, particularly those who are discussing support roles.
HireVue proving invaluable

HireVue is particularly useful when we have a large number of candidates and need supplementary info (e.g. beyond the CV and cover letter) to differentiate between candidates.
I think it would be less appropriate for senior or highly specialised roles where there are few candidates and they need additional care.
HireVue Heroes
- HireVue has a very user-friendly interface that candidates can easily follow and appreciate.
- Sharing interviews with multiple reviewers is very easy.
- Creating a wide variety of questions is easy to do on HireVue. Whether it's video interviews or a mix of video + essays or document analysis it's all easy on HireVue.
- It should be easier to bulk delete candidates.
- Candidates should be able to upload videos themselves and store them on HireVue for a reasonable cost.
Very useful app in telemedicine!
- It allows us to see how fluently a candidate is able to react and speak to direct prompts; the same way a face-to-face interview would.
- It allows us to test their medical knowledge.
- It allows us to assess their computer/technical knowledge.
- Higher resolution videos, to match the otherwise trendy image of the application; which is visible to external candidates and can shape their view of our company.
- Ability to share video of individual responses. This would be useful when a hiring manager needs an SME (within the organization, but who might not use HireVue) to validate the answer to a specific question for any reason.
- Ability to change how interviews are scored without having to create a new profile.
It is less appropriate for positions where the incumbent would be required to answer to or collaborate with a variety of departments or stakeholders, as they may each have different interview questions or scenarios they want to probe, and a cookie-cutter interview is not sufficient for all to gauge or assess.
HireVue is a time saver!
- HireVue looks great! The user interface is simple, intuitive, and looks great. All of those things make for a smooth experience for the applicant.
- The software was easy to set up! Our consultant was always keeping us up-to-date on where the project stood and what we had on our side to complete.
- Most technology will fall into the category, so I don't think it's a great weakness on HireVue's part, but something to consider - there are the occasional candidates who have trouble accessing the interview. Anything that could be done to make this easier would be fantastic!
Great Product for Remote Interviewing

- 24/7 customer support. Our candidates work 24/7 as well so it's great they can call anytime and get support.
- We are a partner with them not just a customer. They listen to our needs/concerns/suggestions.

- The Coordinate tool still needs to fix some of the kinks.

- Ease of use for the applicant. We actually had some people call to say they could not use the product easily as their computers would not allow it.
