Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

  • integration with MS Outlook for sending invoices.
  • Ease of creating and editing reports.
  • Allowing multiple users to work in the system.
  • Sometimes when there are new updates to Outlook or to QB they suddenly stop working well together.
  • More competitive rates for the merchant services feature.

  • Creating simple, professional, branded invoices.
  • Saving secure files.
  • Syncing with bank accounts.
  • Exporting invoices to end to clients.
  • Online payments! Most of my clients who want to do online payments do not want to use their online payment system, and QuickBooks Desktop does not have an intuitive option to allow for the processing fees that go along with using other vendors for this. It is a BIG downside for my business that's mostly online where most clients do not want to use QuickBooks for payment.
  • A simpler way to sync account information from my small banking institution. The files come over but they're cumbersome to translate to QuickBooks Desktop. I tried QuickBooks Online and that's worse.
  • There are too many accounting-centered options for my businesses. Both are small but need more options than what is offered in QuickBooks Online, yet the additional features of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is just too much for our needs. We need a middle of the road option that is efficient for small businesses.

  • Batch Entry of bills.
  • being able to drill down from summary reports.
  • Being able to see the history of a transaction.
  • Warning you of double entry of invoice number, check numbers etc.
  • Would like the dollar amount to fill in when you are using items like it does when you are using expenses.
  • To be able to add items when using bank feed to jobs and items.
  • Be able to edit jobs as a sub account of a client after the job has been created.
  • Be able to import company letterhead as a template to be used for collections.
  • Work in Progress report.

  • Easy to use, especially for an accounting novice
  • Essential reports are easy to pull
  • Invoice feature is fairly simple - and we can get paid directly through QuickBooks
  • They recently added a cashflow prediction feature and it does not work at all
  • In general, QuickBooks does not work for SaaS accounting - we've had to pay for an additional vendor to help us accurately recognize revenue
  • My experience of the desktop specifically is that it's a bit clunky and prone to crashing, so I will often use the online version

  • It is a nice tool to generate financial statements: income statements and balance sheets.
  • It is easy to pull detail reports from QuickBooks to get budget to actual variance.
  • I like the drill down functions to help identify discrepancies and fix them.
  • It takes time to download multiple years data.
  • It only allows storing one set of plans (or budget) and forecast. Therefore, a monthly forecast has be to done in Excel online.
  • I hope there is a way to download multiple journal entries at the same, rather than one at a time.

  • Chart of accounts--very strong here as you have full control
  • Accountant connect--giving the proper levels of access to an outside accountant is awesome
  • Bill payment--you can connect to outside services like Bill.com and pay bills automatically via ACH
  • Connection to bank accounts to easily link bills and credits to the account ledger
  • Not great as an ERP--though they seem to be headed that way
  • No weights of items--no LxWxH dimensions
  • Online version hosted only at Right Networks--should be fully online
  • No direct integrations with LTL shipping

  • Best value for the price point compared to alternatives.
  • Fairly easy to set up.
  • Automatic double-sided transaction entries.
  • Lots of Custom Fields (user-defined fields).
  • Lots of great integrated apps available to extend functionality.
  • Files are easily corrupted - without being obvious to the users.
  • Intuit's minimum hardware requirements are insufficient for multi-user environments.
  • It's a challenge to access the data to use outside the application for other purposes.

  • Easy Purchase Order "copy" function.
  • Product Category function allows items to be easily sorted.
  • Sales Reporting Functions are relatively easy to create and sort.
  • I've heard complaints from Accounting regarding the Payroll features but am not personally familiar.
  • Product/Item search function seems to sort products by some method other than standard alphabetical at times making it troublesome to locate/add a specific item that is similar to others.

  • Solid basic reports on profit, loss, cash flow, and assets
  • Good structure for paying employees and handling deductions and other payroll functions
  • Solid AP functionality and good ability to handle multiple payment types, split transactions, and other needs
  • The software has gotten really slow over time as invoices are attached to reports.
  • Changes made to electronic payment filing have messed up managing electronic payrolls and necessitating additional steps and rights.
  • User management is a challenge.

  • We are able to quickly see our real-time inventory at each site and deliver just-in-time deliveries to our customers where they need it, when they need it.
  • Our reporting is now robust and paints the whole picture, helping in our decisions regarding cash management and future investments.
  • We are beginning to realize savings from accurate inventory movement and better control of Receivables and Payables.
  • Moving our accounts to new software, as expected, was painful. It involved a great number of resources and time to ensure accuracy.
  • Although robust, the reporting is not always intuitive. It takes time and effort to create reports specific to your individual needs. The "boxed" reports are thorough, but fairly generic. But, I suppose they have to be to meet the general needs of a wide and broad user base.
  • The program is fully featured, so, you can expect a long learning curve, especially when you roll it throughout the company at once.
